  1. Hi!

Coming from Figma and Sketch, I litterally can’t work without Symbols. Now, I have like 30 symbols to create… and I cannot believe I have to use the mouse to select an create each one of them.

Can you add a keyboard shortcut for Create Symbol command? Like Cmd + K…

While at it, it would be nice if we could add multiple Symbols at once with another keyboard shortcut: Cmd + Alt + K

    Thank you very much!

if you are looking for what I think is the ultimate select same object, the Astute graphics FindReplace plugin for Illustrator is the absolute killer. I would love AD to implement such a flexible and powerful tool (over multiple releases - start with select, then do replace)

Or I would rather say, anything Astute Graphics are making! :) I really miss their plug-ins...

I admit, this is Photoshop workflow. I would welcome any hint how to do this in Affinity Photo.

I was also thinking that at first. However, there are about 3-5 ways of doing the same things in Photoshop. Affinity Photo shouldn’t force the user to a single way of doing these things.

Maybe Affinity Photo team should hire heavy Photoshop users, let them test thoroughly, listen carefully to their feedback then adjust AP accordingly.

  4. Hi Affinity Design team,

I’ve been a long time user of Adobe Illustrator and the Astute Graphics plug-in suite for AI.

As seen in their video (https://astutegraphics.com/tech/), it suggest you guys started integrating their tech in Affinity Designer. So I would like to ask: to what extend do you envision going forward with their technology?

If that can be helpful to know, my wishes for Affinity Designer would be to have these features integrated in order of preference (first being most important):

    - VectorScribe
    - SubScribe
    - MirrorMe
    - InkScribe
    - ColliderScribe

    Thanks!

  5. Hello Affinity Team,

Would it be possible to add Dithering Modes to the Export Persona when exporting PNG-8 or GIF ? Right now it's impossible to use something else than Diffusion.

It would be nice if those options were available:

    - Diffusion

    - Pattern

    - Noise

    - None

Also, it would be nice if there was an Export Preview with final file size to see the results before exporting. Right now, it's pretty tedious to blindly export, check the file in the Finder, then go back to Affinity Designer to adjust and repeat the process.

    Thank you very much,

    Philippe Côté

  6. Hello Affinity Team,

Congratulations on shipping Symbols. This was a much needed feature.

But now that I'm actually working with it, I've found out that it would be really helpful to be able to just Substitute a Symbol Instance with another one instead of having to recreate from scratch each time I want to replace a symbol.

Also, it would be nice if there was some kind of Symbol management available. Right now, it's impossible to Reorder, Duplicate, Group or Edit a Symbol by using the panel.

Would it be possible to implement these in the near future? These would make Symbols much more powerful.

    Thank you very much,

    Philippe Côté

  7. Hello Affinity Team,

Would it be possible to implement "Paint select" in the Layer Panel for Visibility and Lock? I know it's possible to select all wanted layers first then toggle Visibility and Lock at once but it's much faster to just "Paint-select", like in Photoshop, Illustrator or Cinema 4D.

If you don't know how it works, you simply have to click and hold Visibility or Lock icon in either of those softwares then start dragging to affect multiple layers. Release when done. Note that it is only 3 simple operations done in ONE click! :)

This is much faster than selecting all wanted layers holding shift then clicking the wanted operation.

    Thank you very much guys!

  8. To a degree.  What we are trying very hard to do is write features that don't appear to just be a bolted-on after thought - and where possible reimagine how things would better work (i.e., not just copying Photoshop).  While many people love certain features of Photoshop, it's evident by the way they are presented and the way the file format is written that a lot of features are very much non-core, and crudely stuck on.  I could reel off a list...

    Hello Affinity Team,

I would also like Layer Comps because I'm retouching multiple picture variations of the same product but keeping the same effects and composition everywhere.

Where this is currently a p*** in the a** is when you have to export your 20 variations one by one:

    - Correctly check the desired picture

    - Uncheck everything else but not the composition's effects

    - Go to the Export Persona

    - Rename the Exported File's name

    - Export

    - Repeat from step one x 20 times

If Layers Comps were there, it would be possible to export everything at once.

For us, this is a core feature because having to work around it makes us lose precious time in a day.

Please boost priority for this feature, it can't come quickly enough.

    Thank you guys!

    Philippe Côté

  9. Hi Dams,

You can do that already. Just copy (ctrl+c) the object with the style/effects you want and then go to Edit -> Paste Style or press shift+cmd+v

All the effects applied to the source object will be copied over to the new object.

    Hello MEB and Affinity Team,

About this feature, would it be possible to simply Alt-Drag the "fx" icon from a layer to another to duplicate the effect? Also, just moving the "fx" icon should just move the effect to another layer. Photoshop has this feature since a long while.

    Thanks guys!

  10. Hello Affinity Team,

I've noticed the Constraints Panel is pretty hard to read on a non-Retina display. Here is an example of both types of display:

I also noticed the font is a bit hard to read (sometimes blurry) on non-Retina display as well.

Would it be possible to improve the UI for non-Retina displays? That would be great.

    Thank you very much!

  11. Would love to have the same functionality of spacebar as in Photoshop/Illustrator where you could hold down space when resizing or using pen tool to move the object/anchor point around! It increases the workflow speed by a lot! :)

+ 100 for this. Seriously, this is basic stuff that should have been nailed from the start. :)

I just came here to write about this but found out you did. Thanks!
