You can create a table outside the text frame, then drag it over the frame, and set the text wrap properties to ensure the text wraps around it. You cannot, however, anchor it to a specific place in the text.

And that was the crux of the question. :)

Yes that will help in some instances but generally I'd need it to flow with the text. In a 100 page annual report with lots of tables this would currently be a dealbreaker, I'd have to use InDesign instead (much to my annoyance!).

@walt.farrell Do you know why the decision was made not to anchor tables to the text?  I'm curious as to the  reason for that design decision.  I would think that most potential customers would find that a problem especially for documents that are text and table heavy.

Ah, ok, that makes sense.  Is there a list of features on the roadmap that we can see.  I understand that you can't guarantee  when a feature will be implemented, but it sure would help to understand what's your planning on.

Thanks!

Well glad to hear that it's on the list for planned updates. Without that feature, long document production is basically a non-starter, at least anything with more graphics than a novel.

I just hope it's high on this list. :)

Hi Michael117,
It isn't a design decision. It simply wasn't implemented yet. Anchored Objects will come in a future update (during the 1.x cycle of the app, after release).

Will this (necessary for me) feature include any and all Objects? Meaning; Are you aware of any caveats or outright exclusions to what we can anchor?

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
