  1. I personally think it would be best to hold off implementing PDF passthrough feature until the placed preview matches the actual original PDF (even a super low res one, I wouldn't care). For example, if I'm producing a newspaper filled with hundreds of PDF adverts placed as passthrough, although they may well export fine in the final output I'm not filled with confidence working on a document that looks wildly different to the final outcome. Just my opinion, not a criticism in any way! But this is a FANTASTIC feature - I'm loving the pace at which Publisher is developing
  2. Hi there, yes there is - I wanted to setup a Text Style that handled the bullets as I have A LOT of text to format. Using a font specifically for the shape means I can use it in my text style and change size / colour etc easily, updating all instances throughout the brochure. I'd previously used a polygon shape manually placed where I needed a bullet symbol for a leaflet that only had a few bullets in, but this version is MUCH easier to manage!
  3. LOL, sorry, I should of shared! I used this font https://www.fontspace.com/font-shapes-2019-f31329 and its worked great. Many thanks for sharing your link too!
  4. SORTED! Found a free font that contains shapes, all done
  5. Any idea on how to make custom bullet points like these please? The simplest option would be a font with a hexagonal character - does anyone know of one please?
  6. Client has come back to me and said that it was created entirely in Excel, latest version. I that helps?!
  7. Ah ok, thank you. I've asked the client where it came from so will wait and see.
  8. Sorry I can't be certain as a client supplied. I can ask them tho and hopefully they'll fill me in. First time i've had a need to import Excel so never seen the issue before. I also tried copy/paste in Excel into a new doc, resaved and tried again. Still crashed so there's definitely something in there that Publisher disagrees with!
  9. As per the title, open a fresh doc, go to File/Place, select a basic Excel doc and Publisher crashes every time. Pub 1.8.3, Mac OS 10.15.4.
  10. Hi @MEB many thanks for confirming that, it would be great if there was a pref to turn this off in the near future. Thank you!
  11. Many thanks for taking the time to look through as well. I guess we'll just have to wait to see if Serif replies to confirm.
  12. Thank you for the info. I've had a look through prefs but can't see anything. I'm working on a website visual in Designer at the moment and its doing my head in! Surely there's a way to turn it off?! I can see how this would be useful in certain situations but generally i wouldn't want it to work this way. If someone from Serif could confirm it I'd greatly appreciate it.
  13. I'm assuming this is something I've inadvertently turned on, but I can't for the life of me see where or how: whenever I delete something (in either Designer/Photo/Publisher) the program will automatically select another item rather than leave my selection blank like it always has. Very frustrating since I constantly have to click some white space to clear the selection. The 'auto-selection' randomly picks any other item on the art-board. How can I turn this off please?!
  14. As reported HERE there appears to be a compatibility issue with the latest Mac OS Catalina release. I thought I'd create a new post to highlight the issue, as it currently stands I can't use Publisher on any Mac running Catalina. Basically, Mac's running Catalina are reporting missing fonts when opening documents - the fonts are in fact not missing at all. There's also some shifting of type happening too. Any info on how extensive the issue is / if its something we need to wait for Apple to fix or Affinity? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
  15. ...well so it is! Didn't realise. In that case, this is kind of pressing now.
  16. OK, thanks for confirming that. I may hold out to see if future betas fix the issue. Given Catalina is due to drop pretty soon I hope this is fixed - either by Apple or Affinity, as it simply means we can't use Affinity software on the next Mac OS, which is a pretty big deal!
  17. I have a similar issue and believe it's Catalina at fault (or rather, Publisher working with Catalina). I have a Publisher document on my Mac running Mojave that uses the Lato font family. All good. When I open it on another Mac running a fresh install of Catalina beta, Publisher states that certain weights are not installed (but they are, they're exactly the same fonts from the same source). It looks like some of the text has moved slightly as well - its a very complex 100 page product catalogue with tables and all sorts but they should be identical on both Macs. Anyone else have the same issue please or able to reproduce?
  18. Linking all images in a Publisher document still increases the AP file size. I'm working on a doc with roughly 15 images and the AP file is already over 500 meg in size - does linking work correctly yet? I'm placing / linking Affinity Photo images.
  19. From what I can recall in my InDesign days I just selected 'Europe Prepress CMYK' or something like that. I assumed there would be something similar in AD/AF/AP ?
  20. New to Affinity software and creating my first brochure using a combination of Photo, Designer and Publisher. I'm based in the UK - i've noticed the default CMYK colour profile is set to U.S Web Coated (SWOP) v2. Should all leave all three apps as they are or change them to something like Euroscale Coated V2?
  21. Thank you for taking the time to look at it. I'd not considered the "misspelled" email was on a Master. It looks like it's refusing to get past it and check the document itself, so may be a bug.
