Diacritical characters

When I type ê, Affinity Publisher beta type ^ê.

For example tête becomes t^ête

On a Mac, keep the 'e' key pressed down and you can choose.

The "hold down the key" feature is the newer way to add special characters, but the "dead key" feature (option-i then e for ê, option-u then o for ö) has worked forever in every app, is a system standard, and needs to work properly too.

It'll be fixed in the next beta. (It was working in Designer and Photo 1.6, and somehow got broken in Publisher.)

Now unfortunately the „Mac only“ way for entering diacriticals by pressing a key until a small menu with diacritical characters appears, is broken.

That would be unfortunate, and something we would be keen to fix, but... I am not seeing it here. Could you elaborate, do you have a non-English language set, a fancy keyboard etc etc?

@AdamW: Just forget, what I said!

I finally did, what i normally recommend all users, who encounter issues, to do in first place: I restarted my computer – and all was fine again!

I should listen more to myself
