This beta is an update to the 2.0.0 version recently released to all customers and will form the basis of our first patch. We recommend that you use this beta in preference to the release version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below. If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry. --- - Trash can added bottom left for quick delete (command controller toggle now moved to burger menu) - Clearer drop zone indication for dropping layers inside - New document and open buttons on Home Screen now expand additional options by default (without needing to swipe down) to make them more easily discoverable - New clearer icons for stroke properties (cap, join, align) - afpackage fails to find Resources on Open - Fixed spurious future version error under certain circumstances - Unable to drag aftemplate and afpackage files into the app - Allow opening afdesign / afphoto / afpub files as template - Improvements with PDF Import and Layers - Fixes for RTF import - font name discrepancies, fields in footnotes - Update for HEIF importer - Fixed lack of preflight warning on Print or Export - Export Panel UI fixes - Pen tool tweaks and fixes - Split and Reverse missing from Node Tool - Fixed some tool drawing issues relating to selections across spreads etc - Hit box of scaled text could be incorrect - Gradients on text strokes don't render unless the fill also has a gradient - Fixes for line breaking in some odd cases with punctuation - Merge runs of tabs using leaders - Tweaks to fix some spurious behaviour on interaction with Apple Autocorrect - Fixed hang that could occur composing vertical centre aligned text - OpenType handling does not respect lookup flags such as IgnoreMarks - Insert Filler Text does not work if not in text insertion mode - Resource Manager updates - Fixed various issues involving handling of placed document files - Fixed crash on Replace Image - Fixes for Drag Drop of Stock images - Placed documents with bleed can fail to render the bleed correctly - Command Controller positioning improvements - Fixes for Display Scale Zoomed - Many and various Layers Panel updates and fixes - Master Page management improvements - Fixed some view corruption issues when switching pages / master pages etc - Status bar layout / clipping fixes - Document grid fixes - Context menu fixes - Fixed Navigator in multi-spread views - Fixed assigning shortcuts from a keyboard cover - Select Same Name should only select objects with user supplied names - Unable to open Guide or Grid settings after dismissing by tapping the canvas - Localisation updates --- To be notified about all future iPad beta updates, please follow this notification thread To be notified when this Publisher update comes out of beta and is fully released to all Publisher customers, please follow this release announcement thread
  2. For information this is a link to the breaking change announcement in the Unsplash change log. We will update our implementation as soon as we can. https://changelog.unsplash.com/update/2021/03/09/download-ixid.html
  3. Hi Mike, Yes - defaulted to 'off' (and sticky). This will change existing default behaviour but I think it's preferable in the long run.
  4. Thanks for the discussion, we'll add an option for 'Dot matches Paragraph Break' in the next 1.8 beta.
  5. Hi Walt, As things stand this is to be expected. You have to imagine the stroke decoration as sides of a box drawn around the text frame.
  6. Hi Seb Mi, We hope to add this drag drop at some stage, but in the meantime you can double click on an Asset to place generally, anywhere, or inside a Picture Frame by clicking in it.
  7. Ordering and Licensing I have a problem with my order, what should I do? Where can I find more information about licensing? Please see https://store.serif.com/help/ for issues with ordering, licensing etc. Beta, Release and Trial Versions My Beta version has expired or is telling me the Beta test has ended. Why is this? The public Beta Test has recently ended. We hope that having used the Beta you might consider a purchase. However, if after using the Beta you feel it was not adequate for your requirements, we suggest and hope you will tell us via the User Forum. Publisher will remain in active development, so currently if you do not wish to purchase you might consider downloading a trial in the future for an opportunity to re-evaluate the software. Is there a Trial available? Yes look at the bottom of this page. Do I have to uninstall the Beta before installing the Release version? The Release can be installed alongside the Beta version. The Public Beta has recently expired, however you can replace it with a Customer Beta as soon as one is available. I have been using the Public Beta. How can I transfer my assets to the Release Version? The Public Beta has expired recently, however if you have purchased the Release you can install and run the Customer Beta. From here you can export you assets in the usual way and import them into the Release version. Additional information can be found here for MacOS and here for Windows. Application Integration What is StudioLink? How do I make the Designer and Photo Personas available in Publisher? Assuming Affinity Designer and / or Affinity Photo have been installed and launched, StudioLink allows you to switch seamlessly to the primary Personas of either of these two applications within Publisher. Please note that Versions 1.7.1 or higher of Designer and Photo will be required for the integration to function correctly. These updates have only recently been released so please ensure you are up to date. You must install and launch the applications to register them. It is possible to mix and match versions of Designer, Photo, and Publisher from the Windows Store and the Affinity Store. Workbooks Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo have Workbooks. Will there be a Publisher Workbook? Yes. We created an Affinity Publisher Workbook (using Affinity Publisher 1.9) and released it December 2020. Feature Requests and Issue Reports I have a suggestion for a new feature or an improvement to Publisher, what should I do? Please post you suggestion in the Suggestions for Affinity Publisher on Desktop Forum. I have an issue using Affinity Publisher, or I think I have found a bug. What should I do? Please create a post in the relevant forum (Bugs on MacOS / Bugs on Windows), explaining your problem in as much detail as possible.
  8. Hi, https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/publisher/ Should be available a couple of hours earlier, around 15:00 UTC for a pre-order.
  9. Hi Passorolle, To ensure that you are always using an up today version of the beta so that you do not experience issues that have already been fixed, we have set all the beta builds to expire after 30 days. If your beta build is more than 30 days old you will be asked to download an update.
  10. Thanks. Download link should be fixed now. Alternatively latest beta is here for macOS or here for Windows.
  11. Thanks. Should be fixed now. Alternatively here for macOS or here for Windows.
  12. Hi @Pebowski, You should find that you can change your email language preferences if you log into your account on affinity.serif.com, via 'Account Details' / 'Manage your email marketing preferences'.
  13. Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience. The book looks great.
  14. To the best of my current knowledge the 1.7 Release Icons will be very similar to, if not the same as, the current Beta Icons.
  15. Hi William, Thank you for asking. There are currently no plans to bundle any fonts with Affinity Publisher at initial launch.
  16. This is the main reason why the gutter width is not on the context bar.
  17. Hi snugsound, Welcome to the Affinity forum. Publisher and Designer files are compatible but not upward compatible, so you can save / load / copy / paste between 1.7 Publisher beta and the 1.7 Designer beta, but not from the 1.7 Publisher / Designer betas to the 1.6 Designer release. I’m guessing this is what you are seeing.
  18. Hi, Because we knew we would effectively be down for two weeks over the Christmas period we gave the last beta (206) an extended expiry time of 45 days, so it will expire round about 26th Jan. We hope to have a new build out in the next few days with some updates if you really are stuck. I know its not much help but my builds, Mac and Windows, are fine.
  19. Hi JeroenK, If I'm understanding correctly, the problem may be that you have to be careful what you apply the wrap settings to - if you apply then to the masked object text will run around the object as though it was unmasked. If you apply the settings to the mask itself you should get what you want. If that doesn't help maybe you could give us some steps or a document which has the problem.
  20. Hi, The context menu for a topic in the Index Panel includes a ‘Find in Document...’ command which should list occurrences of the topic in the document. Specific occurrences can then be included or excluded from the index. Note the ‘Find in Document’ command includes some word stemming support, so for instance a search for ‘find’ would turn up ‘find’, ‘finding’ etc.
  21. Hi, If its any consolation this is high priority for us, mainly in the context of PDF Export. Unfortunately, even so, I can't realistically estimate a date right now.
  22. Hi Steps, The betas typically expire after 30 days, and we would hope to release at least 2 updates in any 30 day period (although we may have to adjust things a little over the coming Christmas period). We do everything we can to ensure that documents continue to load, but at this stage do not wish to promise that just in case for some reason it may compromise future development. We've helped a few beta testers update their documents which have failed to load after an update, but again cannot guarantee this as a service.
