Bobaffinity Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Can Affinity Photo handle ATN files/plug-ins? If so, where and how do you load them? Off-topic: I'm greatly impressed where this whole Affinity project is going. It may well become the new standard in a couple of years. Bob wobmann 1
Staff MEB Posted February 24, 2015 Staff Posted February 24, 2015 Hi Bobaffinity, Welcome to Affinity Forums. No, Affinity is not able to handle atn files. I'm not sure we will be able to translate/import Photoshop actions into Affinity (macros) but it's to soon enter in details. The Macro Persona is still being built. Imaginarius Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 These days there are a number of Photoshop Actions that produce more exciting things than full-blown plug-ins.I wish too Affinity Photo could use tham but it is very understandable if that is not possible...However, there could be Affinity Photo's own macro editor?
Staff MEB Posted February 24, 2015 Staff Posted February 24, 2015 Yes, Affinity will have it's own macro editor. It's called Macro Persona (fourth icon from the left right below the traffic lights) but it's unavailable at the moment. It's still being built. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
TomM1 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I am sure free macros, brushes, gradients etc. will start to populate the internet as AP becomes well known. website Mac mini M4 24 GB, LG 4K display, Canon 6DII, Mac 15.4.1

That would be a real shame as I use actions quite alot in my Photoshop sessions. Not including the use of actions would probably hold me back from abandoning Photoshop in favor of Affinity Photo. fploong 1
jknights Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I too would like to run my Photoshop Actions in newly purchased Affinity Photo. This is one of the last things holding me back from dumping Adobe. fploong 1

Agreed. I use actions a lot too. Also, those actions panels like TK actions and Raya Pro are fantastic actions attached to Photoshop as action panels. I believe there are numbers of professional landscape photographers are using this action panel, they will also hold back from abandoning Photoshop in favor of Affinity Photo.
billtils Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 The first MAS version of AP is an excellent editing application and there is the promise of more to come. However, it is NOT (and is not intended to be) a cheap clone of Photoshop. If there are things in the PS world that are not present in AP (or flagged in the AP road map as "to come") then don't worry, be happy, and stick with what you know works for you. eman8kartchner Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Now that the Macro Persona is built within Affinity Photo, is there a way to import ATN actions from Photoshop as macros to AF?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. No, there is no way to do that. The two products are too different in how they work, and also PhotoShop actions can do many things that Affinity macros cannot do at all. eman8kartchner 1 -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. eman8kartchner Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 (edited) Thank you for your response walt.farrell! What format does Affinity Photo use for its macros? And what format, if any, does a Photoshop action need to be in to import into Affinity Photo, if it could be modified and imported? Or am I asking for the impossible here? The format used by Serif for any of the Affinity files is not documented. There is no possibility to convert a Photoshop action file into a form that Affinity Photo will accept. -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
