  1. Neither Pixelmator or Sketch seem to have support for color fonts. At least I can't find out how to use color fonts in either of them.
  2. Thanks for that. I am sure this will suffice until a preview option is added.
  3. I have just downloaded Publisher beta and must say even at this release it is an excellent and much faster alternative to Adobe inDesign. The only thing that seems missing at the moment (unless I have not found it) is a preview mode like the one in inDesign. Is this likely to be added?
  4. Just checked and unfortunately the camera is currently set to compressed. Will compressed be supported in the future?
  5. I have just tried importing a raw file from my Fujifilm XT2 into Affinity Photo for IOS. I tried using iCloud Drive and Dropbox but all I get is a black screen. Does this mean the raw files from this camera are not supported? Richard
  6. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to disable the magenta coloured outlines showing around all the objects in the Draw Persona mode. This is something that doesn't happen in Adobe Illustrator. I have attached a scree grab to illustrate what I mean. Thanks, Richard
  7. Will Affinity Photo ever be able to handle curves in the way that Photoshop does? For example in PS I can add different input and output on eachof the nodes on the curve Affinity Photo doesn't seem to have this function. Neither does it seem to have any way of importing .acv curve files into AP curves. It seems odd that AP doesn't have these functions as the freely available Gimp does. If you look at the attached Screen Grab from PS each of the nodes on the curve has separate in and out values and previously saved curves can be imported and applied.
  8. That's a shame - looks like I'll have to stick with Photoshop CS6 then. I have just purchased Affinity Photo but I doubt I'll get to use it much though as there are too many features unique to Photoshop CS6 that I use all the time.
  9. It would be really useful if you could add features to the curves tool to make it more like the one in Photoshop. It would be really useful if you could add: 1. The ability to open curves created and saved in Photoshop into AP 2. The ability to open and run Photoshop scripts 3. The ability to run Photoshop actions As there are no alternatives as yet (that I can see) in Affinity Photo for these features I still will have to choose Photoshop over AP as they are both features I need to create digital negatives for the alternative photography processes I use.
  10. Thanks for the quick reply. The only problem I have now is importing curves created in Photoshop - is this likely to be added in a future update.
  11. I have just purchased Affinity Photo 1.4 after not using the software due to to the beta expiring. However I see there is still no option to split the RGB channels into seperate greyscale files and the method described above no longer seems possible. Does anyone know of a way to separate the RGB channels in seperate greyscales files in this latest version. I find it hard to believe that AP doesn't offer a straight forward method to do this as it has been available in Photoshop now for many years.
  12. I have just updated to the latest version of Affinity Photo Beta and I am having problem opening a psd file I created yesterday in PS CS6. I get the following error when I try to open the file: "Failed to open PSD file /Users/pixelart/Desktop/peguara2.psd The file could not be parsed." Anyone any idea what the problem might be? The file opens in PS without any problem. Thanks, Richard
  13. That would be a real shame as I use actions quite alot in my Photoshop sessions. Not including the use of actions would probably hold me back from abandoning Photoshop in favor of Affinity Photo.
  14. My mistake the button hasn't disappeared I forgot the layer controls what shows.
  15. Has the latest update changed the channels palette and got rid of the button to separate the channel into a greyscale layer?
  16. Both curves and gradients need to have the ability to save and load curves and grads for example ones already ctreated in Photoshop.
  17. Hi Andy, That sounds good. I have the new build but cant see how to separate a channel into a new greyscale layer? Thanks again, Richard
  18. Andy do you you think you will be able to add this feature? As much as I like Affinity Photo without this feature I'll have to continue with PS CS6 as making digital negs is one of my main uses of PS. Richard
  19. In all recent versions of Photoshop there is a split channels option available from the channels tab. This is the sequence used to produce digital negatives: Tricolor RGB negativesStart with a color digital image that has been edited and is in Adobe RGB (1998) and 16 bit depth. Flatten the image to a single layer, then size it to 360ppi and the correct dimensions. Invert the sized image to negative (Image/Adjustments/Invert). Save at this step since the next step cannot be undone. Go to Window/Channels. This will open the Channels panel. In the upper right corner, click on the small stack of lines to open the Channel Options window. Scroll down and select Split Channels. This will cause the color image to disappear and be replaced by three grayscale images, one for the Red, one for the Green, and one for the Blue channel. Rename the Red separation as imagename_BLUEneg.psd, the Green separation as imagename_MAGENTAneg.psd, and the Blue separation as imagename_YELLOWneg.psd. Make a practice of also marking each negative as it comes out of the printer as Blue, Magenta, or Yellow since they look nearly identical. Be sure that each negative file has Gray gamma 2.2 embedded in it (Edit/Convert to Profile/Select Gray Gamma 2.2 as the Destination Space). At this point there are two options. If the correct negative contrast has already been determined the negatives can be printed in the gum layer of choice at the Basic Exposure Time determined in Step 1 of the 3-step method and the Printer Settings determined in Step 2, including the correct Color Density setting for contrast. On the other hand if more fine-tuning of the midtones is necessary, a midtone correction curve as described in Step 3 will be necessary, but when applied to the RGB separations, it must be applied to the positive. Since at this point the RGB splits are negative, it is necessary to invert each file back to positive, apply the correction curve, flatten, then re-invert to negative. Print the corrected negative using the Exposure and Printer Settings determined in Steps One and Two.
  20. I currently use Photoshop CS6 to create digital negatives by splitting the colour channels and apply apply correction curves. Is there any way to do this Affinity Photo?
