Hi Shu and Fixx,

Affinity Designer will not round any numeric values that are entered manually, but use the full numeric precision available. However, any numeric value you enter will be displayed in the user interface as rounded to the number of decimal places you chose in the preferences, just as Fixx said. This feature was obviously implemented with the intention to remove some clutter from the user interface.

Hope that helps …  :)

Alex

I have an issue the other way round - when entering values like 297 mm x 210 mm they get changed to 296.8 mm x 209.9 mm - even if that happens while adding decimal points to the preset number, it should be 297.0 mm x 210.0 mm

I haven't seen that here. Does it still happen if you enter values like 297.0 or 210.0?

It really doesn't round values...ever. Like Excel, it stores the values as doubles very accurately, but displays at a certain user defined number of decimals. So don't worry as nothing is actually lost no matter how the numbers are shown to you.

@voom If you have Force Pixel Alignment turned on, and enter dimensions in mm (or other real world units) they will be moved to the nearest pixel, which will create a decimal with a fractional part.

Could this be what yo are seeing?

Really? I also had the suspicion that this could be the case, but my own tests seemed to have shown quite conclusively, that manually entered values always override any snapping setting.

Ah, you were talking about the Crop Tool in Affinity Photo. Yes, I can definitely confirm this issue, and I remember there were some issues with using the millimeter scale in the past:

So you should definitely add a report to the “Bugs” subforum …  :)

Great find, Alex
