My space bar won't work when I enter text - if I hit it twice, I get a pop up that asks me if I want to save the document. I cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on - it's working fine as I type here! Hoping someone can be of help as this is stopping work on projects. Thank you in advance!

What OS are you using, @ChrisOmfH?

Are you using Artistic Text or Frame Text?

Does it affect all documents, or one specific one?

Have you restarted the application, and the OS?

Mac or Windows? What Affinity version? – It sounds like the report below. Unfortunately, this OP hasn't responded again, so all we know is that his non-Apple keyboard may have been involved. Or maybe a reboot solved their issue?

macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

From earlier posts, I believe the OP is using macOS. Some basic things to try:

  • Ensure the spacebar works in other apps
  • Restart your Mac
  • Check Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard  and ensure Full Keyboard Access and Slow Keys are turned off
