Meta: removing old attachments

Recommended Posts

I'm fast running out of upload space for attachments. Is there any way of deleting them en bloc from the My Profile/My Attachments area, or is the only way to edit individual messages and delete them one by one?

Thanks,

H

If you go to My Attachments you can select the attachments using the checkboxes on the right, and once you have one or more selected, you'll see a button at the bottom of the page to delete them:

Check with the Affinty staff first, they may allocate you more space

If you delete attachments that are relevant and useful to the thread it could make those threads useless to other people in the future

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Thanks Walt and Carl.

Unfortunately I can't see any checkboxes on the right, at least not using Safari.

I'll hang on till after the weekend (if we survive Storm Ciara) and see what the Affinity guys have to say.

Best,

FWIW, I am running Safari on macOS 10.14 on a 27" iMac. I can see the checkboxes but if I reduce the width of the browser window enough, the checkboxes jump to the left, partially overwriting the attachment name:

You seem to have a different issue but I wonder if you use View > Zoom Out in Safari to fit more into the window the checkboxes will appear for you.

If R C-R's hints don't help, I would suggest trying a different browser.

Good call, but I can't see the checkboxes in Chrome, or in Safari on my iPhone.

Perhaps the bleeding-edge developer betas of macOS and iOS I'm running on both devices don't agree with the updated forum software. I'm sure that at some time in the dim and distant past I didn't have any trouble doing this.

Nope - all I get is a shrunk view of the same thing. I've also tried adjusting the width of the window without success. I might try fiddling with the user agent - I'll let you know if I have any luck, got to fit it around cooking...

ADD: no joy with different user agents, no joy hiding the sidebar.

I think the Affinity Forum should automatically adjust the allocated space according to the number of posts and the author's reputation.

P. S. I am offering 10GB !! places to upload files. Have you already allocated the space really exhausted?

Interesting. I see that I have 10GB available, too. But h_d's screenshot showed they have 2GB available. It may indeed be based on one's reputation or on their classification (New User, Advanced User, Dedicated User, etc.).

Just glad to be of assitance.

Me too. 😋

IIRC, several years ago when everyone was limited to something like 200 MB total, the mods decided to allocate more space to the "top ten" users, whatever that was supposed to mean. At that time I think the top ten got 2 GB, with the understanding that the limit would be raised as needed. But I don't know how it works now.

@Patrick Connor could probably tell us, and perhaps advise @h_d on the best way to resolve their space problem.

That's brilliant, thanks @Patrick Connor . Just to confirm, my upload allowance has been increased to 10 Gb. I can also see the checkboxes if I do choose to delete anything, which I'll swear weren't visible before. I'm one happy chap now!

Yes 10GB. No idea about the checkboxes, nothing I've done AFAIK

10 Gb? That's just 1.25 GB, you didn't improve much :-)
