  1. Hello Affinity Photo development team, I'm a newbie to your program, but have worked as a digital illustrator for several years. Affinity Photo is a really nice program - a nice alternative to Photoshop. It could be a great program for digital illustrators and painters... But it is missing a critical option for higher speed efficiency: a fast color picker option by pressing "Ctrl" or "Alt" This is present in Photoshop, Corel Painter, Krita, OpenCanvas, PaintStorm Studio, etc. It is very important to painters to be able to access the color picker quickly. When you hold down "Ctrl" or "Alt" and click on the color - it color picks it. Then when you let go of the "Ctrl" or "Alt" key, it goes back to the tool you were using before. When you have to switch between brush and color picker, this wastes twice the amount of time. An extra second or fraction of a second may not seem like a lot - but it adds up. A painting that would take 2 hours, takes 4 hours. A piece that would take 1 day, takes 2 days. 1 week turns into 2 weeks, etc. This would be a great addition to Affinity Photo - for all artists. One last idea... Is allowing the user to "fix" the color wheel triangle in a fixed position - instead of having it rotate all around pointing at the chosen color. Why? Because having lightness point up, darkness point down, and saturation point right - is far easier for the brain to process than having the triangle flip all around the wheel... it makes picking specific shades across different colors inconsistent.. harder to match the same saturation position on different colors... because it has changed position. It's easier for the brain to map out the color triangle when it's fixed in one position. White up - black down - and saturation to the right.. Would be far easier to remember for artists - who need consistency, and speed in color picking. Thank you immensely for viewing and considering these ideas!!
  2. I love how each tool can have its own double tap shortcut but the shortcut options are limited. My favorite use of the pencil so far is doing alpha masks. It’s so perfect, precise, and quick in the app + pencil that I’ll probably never do curve selections for cutouts again! One very common task when drawing alpha masks is to switch between black and white colors to draw what part of the layer is visible (white) and what part is hidden (black) Request: Allow double tap shortcut for pencil that switches between two colors, kinda like hitting the X key in photoshop. This will let me quickly swap between black and white brush tool colors when working on alpha masks.
  3. Cmd+Space is old fashion switch command of macOS. Still many people assign this as input switch but default command(Ctrl+Space)
  4. I read that the windows shortcut for brush size and hardness are holding Alt + Right Mouse Button and then dragging left/right or up/down. However this is not working for me. Am I doing something wrong?
  5. Is there a way to disable the opacity shortcut when using the number keys (1-9)? I use Affinity software for digital painting and illustration, and I keep accidentally hitting '3' instead of 'E' for the eraser and changing my brush opacity to 30% by mistake. I've also assigned Cmd+1 and Cmd+2 to rotate my canvas left and right, but the same problem here - I keep accidentally changing my brush opacity in the process if I don't perfectly press Cmd together with the number key. I don't use the number keys to set opacity of my brush anyway, so I would love to disable and/or customise those shortcuts to accommodate my workflow better, but I can't seem to find those keys anywhere in the Keyboard Shortcuts panel. I wouldn't recommend removing this shortcut for those who use it, but perhaps having the option to customise it would be helpful? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi Everyone, i'm not sure if it's a bug, but i use "insert filler text" a lot, so i decided to give it a shortcut. Usualy when i use the text menu i get classic "Lorem ipsum", but since i have created a shortcut i have what seems to me pieces of "Alice in wonderland". Is that known? Looks like an easter egg of some sort. Haven't found options to set it to "Lorem ipsum". Any idea? Thx ! Ben
  7. In Lightroom, if I want to change from landscape to portrait, or vice versa, in any given crop setting. I can hit Ctrl x, and it does it quickly. Is there such a shortcut in Affinity without having to type in the orientation change on the tool bar? I have searched in preferences, but I have not found it. Thanks
  8. Is there a quick shortcut key/combination I can push to expand/collapse all layers?
  9. There is a shortcut to past an object inside another. Is there a shortcut to undo that? I only see the multi-step option to find the pasted object in the layers panel and release....
  10. I'm become crazy by a stupid simple task: How to delete something in an selection? I've selected an area (Rect selection) that i want to delete. Then i press the delete key, but it deletes the complete layer!? I've searched in the Edit- and the Selection-Menu, but nothing. Then i use the help to search for delete, and it finds just the Delete Layer command? Searching for that term in google shows me al lot of impressive tricks, but not how to delete the content inside a simple selection. So i switched to Pixelmator to do that in two seconds... - But that's insane, for such a basic function. Where did you hide the simple delete function?
  11. It would be faster to access the STUDIO list of palettes if STUDIO was on the menu, perhaps between "View" and "Window". No doubt it is a major programming shuffle but accessing STUDIO is done frequently and one click is faster than two. Giving STUDIO a CTRL+? or ALT/CMD+? shortcut would help, too. And/or, make an icon for STUDIO so we can put it on the Toolbar if not on the menu. TKS.
  12. Hi, I’m pretty sure I’m missing something obvious, but how do you exit the text editing mode without having to switch tools in Affinity Designer ? In Photoshop cmd + return will do this, but in AD it converts the text to curves (witch leads to numerous errors on my part. So much that I now have changed the shortcut). If there is a way I would love to hear about it otherwise, I would love to see this added.
  13. Hello there, shortcuts for tools have a bit annoying functions (atleast for me). First one is when you press a shortcut more than one time it cycles through other "modes" of that tool (this I solved with rebinding a keymap). Second one is when you press shortcut more than one time and you previously pressed another tool then it switches you back to that previous tool. Now this second one I wasn't able to solve and it is disturbing my workflow. Is there a way to turn it off somehow? Thank you, T.
  14. Hi, I just started using Affinity Designer at work and I love it so far. One of the features that will really come in handy is to collapse all artboards with one shortcut key. I usually end up with several artboards in an Affinity Designer file and it gets pretty annoying to navigate through layers on top of layers. So please add this feature to the next rollout of the app. Thanks!
  15. Hello, What happened to the feature on Ipad that color picker appears when I press the pen 2sec on the screen? It was really useful in my workflow for blending colours... How can I pick/blend colors in the easiest and most efficient way now? Thanks, N.
  16. Mac standard keyboard shortcut for moving the cursor to the end of the line is cmd+right arrow; moving to end of word is alt+right arrow. In APub, cmd+right arrow gives end of word, alt+right arrow does nothing. Is this deliberate, or a bug? I find it really confusing, as it's a shortcut I've got used to, and use quite often.
  17. Hey, i was creating basic dodge and burn macro for myself but started thinking that is there way to set shortcut key for macros? Would be awesome.
  18. Hi, Is there any way to show and hide layers quickly by using shortcut? It would be very useful for both Photo and Designer but I am not able to find how to add shortcut for it. Also, a shortcut for showing all layer is also essential. I found another thread on this forum on this topic but it's a work around and not very efficient IMHO. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/42112-hideshow-layers-quickly/
  19. It would be nice to have a shortcut for quickly open the resource manager, without going in the menu. I feel that need because when I have the Resource Manager open all the document suddenly becomes slow, especially moving images and frames (I do not understand if this is a problem of the resources of my computer or an application bug), so I keep it open only when I haeve to chek the images parametres. By the way, great app! Can't wait to use the final stable product!
  20. Some of the most frequently used edit commands are not available from the toolbar. E.g., the Edit > Undo and Edit > Redo functions would be productively convenient.
  21. Hello guys! You know that in PS we are using Ctrl / Alt + Space bur to control Zoom in or out. Do you've any keyboard shortcut there in Affinity to control Zoom tool? Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi there, Would anybody else find it useful to have a key command to hide all vector outlines & nodes (& bounding boxes too) without deselecting the item, nor changing tools? It's easier to judge your final result without the distraction of the "back-room mechanics" on top of your stroke. I remember using that kind of Hide command back in Adobe days. Just pressing Spacebar for a momentary Hand tool _almost_ does the trick. But not if you're adjusting the item's stroke or brush or layer fx properties in a dialog – then Spacebar doesn't work. So you have to judge your adjustments with the nodes & outlines obscuring your edges (with Pen or Node tool selected, at least). And if you switch to a different tool that hides outlines & bounding box, then your pen or node tool parameter ribbon goes away. All these issues would be resolved with an additional View ->View Mode: Artwork/Result Only. Thanks in advance for considering it!
  23. The specified shortcut of shift + return is inserting a new line, not a line break. Inserting from the "Text" menu is working correctly however.
  24. Please can you add a Shortcut for Text Horizontal Scale, need this often for manual paragraph fine-tuning.
  25. Hi there, maybe I'm just blind, but I'm missing shortcut to jump to the next or previous brush in the brushes studio (suggestion: , and .). I'm also missing simple keyboard shortcuts for decreasing and increasing the brush hardness like the shortcuts [ and ] for the brush size. My suggestion would be Shift+[ and Shift+]. Greetz, Tekl
