  1. Hi, After last update i'm facing few issues during typical retouch activities, below there is a list of problems what i have found : 1. Liquify Persona - After finishing of modifications and applying changes Affinity stops responding, the only thing I can do is saveing the project and restarting the program. 2. Layer Mask - After applying mask and invert it, color of the mask icon does not change for black and that is very confusing, specialy when I have about 20 layers and some of them has white and black masks 3. Gaussian Blur - for 7 of 10 attempts applying gaussian blur filter I dont recive window with the radius slider of the filter These are the issues, that slowing down my retouch work and I hope to recive some respond for them. I wish You all the best for the new year 2018
  2. I use the gaussian blur to get a blurred frame around photos. I make a selection, invert it and use the gaussian blur filter. In many photos, the frame as in photo 1, the frame was blurred out at the edge. All of a sudden it becomes a sharp edge instead as in photo 2. What have I done wrong? Some settings I missed?
  3. Hi all, as part of working on helping someone else I did this (see image below) If I move the gaussian blur below the ellipse the grid disappears, a bug or is there a valid reason for this affect? odd effect.afphoto
  4. I have two curve layer adjustments for my dodge and burning retouch work on AP for my iPad Pro. I’d like to select a section of the mask and add a Gaussian blur. Is this possible? If so, how do I do this? I new to AP but a Photoshop veteran looking for an iPad alternative. Thank you so much in advance.
  5. hello, when I using frequency separation ,I repeat pressing Ctrl+Alt+F to use Gaussian blur, and it makes the app crash. it shut down itself suddenly.
  6. It would be extremely cool to be able to apply a gradient to a Gaussian blur on an object. Say you have a rectangle - the Gaussian blur could go from 0 at one end to 10px (or whatever) on the other. The object would start out solid and crisp at the one end, and gradually become more blurred towards the other. Would be nice for creating more realistic shadows, etc.
  7. From yesterday I am noticing a mysterious shortcut on Affinity Photo! If I press G+G it blurs the current layer and opens the Gaussian Blur dialog. I am not able to find where it's coming from as there is no such shortcut assigned to Gaussian Blur filter. And once it's used, pressing G once opens the Gaussian Blur dialog instead of fill! If this is an intended feature, could anyone please demystify it?
  8. Hi all I want to blur my mask. If I activate "Gaussian Blur" as Effect of an Adjustment Layer, it does not apply the effect to the mask. Checking "Preserve Alpha" has no effect either. HSL mask in attached image selected by Alt+Click on HSL Layer Greetings, Roland
  9. Hi! I'd love to see a Gaussian Blur tool that acted similarly to the Transparency or Gradient tools ... You could have the blur get progressively heavier as you dragged the mouse pointer towards the edge of the object. Having the ability to have a "blur gradient" could make for some awesome effects! Does anyone know of a way to duplicate this effect without the Affinity folks having to come up with a new widget tool?
  10. Hi all, First time posting here, so I hope this is the appropriate place... I'm creating an image with multiple layers - I run a small theatre company and this image will be used to promote a touring show. It's a countryside scene with a group standing in the middle, and around the edge I have a black silhouette of leaves, branches, rushes, etc. to frame the picture. I've applied a light (1-2px) gaussian blur as a live filter to these silhouette layers in order to soften them and give a sense of depth. However, when I export the image, the gaussian blur is removed, and the leaves, etc. appear sharp again, as if I hadn't applied the blur. I tried rasterising the layer before exporting, but when I did, the blur was removed in the resulting pixel layer. I removed the live filter and tried applying the blur as an effect, but when I flatten or export the image it still gets removed. I tried applying the blur as a normal filter - the correct result shows when previewing and moving the slider, but when I hit apply the blur is removed again! I don't know if I'm missing something or whether this is actually a bug, but if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it! Other than this, I'm loving both Photo and Designer!
  11. Today I experienced some issues while exporting an artboard where a gaussian blur filter layer was applied on the background image. When exporting the document to pdf, both designer 1.5.3.69 and photo 1.5.2.69 on 2 machines would not render the background image in the pdf. by disabling the adjustment and filter layers I narrowed the issue down to the gaussian blur filter. When disabled the image would render correctly. It would also seem that when the preserve alpha option in the gaussian blur filter layer is disabled, the image is rendered, although the edges are not rendered as previewed in designer/photo. Is this issue also present in the latest beta? Or known to happen on other filter layers? SIDE NOTE: The blend mode of the gaussian blur layer, which was set on Luminosity, did not have any effect on the export, setting it to normal still caused the same issue. SIDE NOTE 2: I opened the pdf files in both Microsoft Edge 41.16226.1000.0 as well as Google Chrome 59.0.3071.115 EDIT: It seems the issue is only present when I use the PDF (for print) preset, changing the DPI from there or using another preset does not cause the issue
  12. Hi, I would like to voice a feature request to the gaussian blur layer effect. In its current state when applying the gaussian blur to an object/layer, the edges of the object/layer are also blurred/feathered, which is great and expected! :) However, in some situations that’s not the desired effect. It would be great if there was a ‘clamp edges’ or ‘clamp transparency’ toggle in the gaussian blur settings that would preserve the layers edges when increasing the blur radius. This addition to the Gaussian blur effect would be beneficial for iOS design specifically but would also come in handy in other areas as well. I’ve attached two images for reference. I applied a gaussian blur effect in both Affinity and Illustrator. As you can see in the second image, Illustrator blurs the layer while preserving the edges. Thanks Cam
  13. Applying Gaussian Blur to a layer (Ellipse in my test) will cause it to be composited uniformly everywhere, even though the "Underlying Composition Ranges" curve was modified. When deactivating the blur, the curve will have an effect, enabling it ignores the curve.
  14. Firstly, let me start by saying two enormous positives about your Gaussian Blur: 1. It's a fucking sexy blur. And the Preserve Edges feature being right there.. THANK YOU!!!! 2. The logarithmic scaling (or whatever it is) you have is damn near perfect. Now, the problem. If working with a big image, the fact that it's constantly trying to update, live, becomes a little problematic because it reduces the accuracy a user can find/feel/flow to with the slider. There are two solutions. Adobe's way: Which is to put in a slight delay after any and all slider moment before attempting to do the blurring. Affinity's way, + a Shortcut to temporarily restrain the Live Update of the Blur processing, at which point it behaves like Adobe's, with a little extra time before attempting to blur. Perhaps 0.25 of a second more delay. Might only need to be 0.1 or 0.2 of a second. Won't know until we feel it. Now, where to put such a shortcut? I strongly suggest the CapsLOCK key, as this is what's used in After Effects to "power down" live updates, and it makes nearly perfect sense, because it can be activated and then deactivated, and the signal can be received by the app.
