  1. Hello, How to distort text like in Adobe Illustrator like a flag or arch ? How to distort horizontly or verticaly ? Thanks for advices.
  2. I can't find anything in the Help about this but it seems like a reasonable thing to want to do. It would be nice to be able to easily convert an artistic text layer to a text frame so I can take advantage of the extra functionality without having to manually create new text frames and copying the text over. Is there any way of doing this easily? On example where this would be useful is if you had a page originally created in Designer - which doesn't have text frames - that you brought over to Publisher for further editing.
  3. Hi, Had several issues following the Tutorials (Tuts). Zoom in to workspace. Can't get it to work. Cannot drag and drop text using the Artistic Text tool. It drags into place with the a sample character (A) displayed of the appropriate style selected. When I let go of the drag, it's dropped, it's an edit point of whatever size, but cannot type into it. Is it me? After quitting the tutorial and still in AFPub, my keyboard is not typing- cannot type anywhere, in any app (arrow, keys work)! Senses input to system but characters are recognized... Weird! Had to log off and log back in to restore keyboard operation. This one definitely ain't me! Henry
  4. I am running Affinity Photo Desktop 1.6.4.104. It appears that the Artistic Text Tool isn't working … I looked at several YouTube Video's as to how this should work, but after I select the circle shape, click on the Artistic Text Tool and place my curser over the circle's path, the curser DOES NOT change (T with the curved line under) to indicate the Artistic Text is ready to be typed. I type a dozen differ ways. Please help! I'm basically wanting to type text in a circle … nothing fancy.
  5. Can Artistic Text be typed vertically in Designer or Photo? I don't mean typing it horizontally then rotating it 90° nor a long narrow text box, I want to use Artistic Text.
  6. Hi, As I have stated before I am not a seasoned graphics designer. Ok, so the image attached is an example of what I am trying to do. I have two Artistic Tool Hellos. One Black and One Red. I want to cut up the Red, so the Black shows through. And since there is no scissor tool, I tried to convert it to Curves and use the Node Tool. It doesn't work. My thought was to layer the Red on the Black and then use the Node Tool to cut away different areas of the Red so the black lines up and shows through. I tried to Group the Red Text with a Box and then Convert the Box into a Curve and use the Node Tool. That did not work. Any thoughts on how I can do this? Thanks Bill
  7. I cannot export artistic text to pdf when using an artboard. Export to jpg works fine. Not using a artboard export to pdf is fine. test.pdf test.afdesign
  8. Is there anyway to change frame text to artistic text (or the opposite) or must it be recreated?
  9. Hi, It appears the position of the font single and double strikeout needs adjusting. I noticed it's font dependent, and sometimes this means you end up having to create a manual strikeout just to get it in the right place. Attached you'll find a simple example where it's not quite where it should be - the single strikeout is similarly problematic. As an aside, I'm not sure if the .afdesign file is of any use without the font - unless AD embeds the fonts in use in the file like, for instance, LibreOffice does. 10. I have a wondering about the boxes surrounding artistic text. In my example in the attached picture the text position related to the box surrounding it isn't the same for the different words. Why is that? And is it anything you can change? When to position text with the x-cordinates this becomes little of a dilemma. Naturally when you want to align text it's the text itself that you want to align but in this case it's the boxes that correspond to the x-cordinates. So my question is: Is this how it's suppose to be and i've missed something? And in either way, can i do something about it?
  11. I need to know how to edit existing text within a Artistic Text box. I want to change the word Town to Townhall while retaining all of the particular settings. I need to repeat this type of action with several words but can't figure out how to select the text to do so. Thanks, Scot
  12. The adjusting the limits of an artistic text along a drawn line is clear in AD. Unlike Illustrator, however, there does not appear to be a way to move the entire text within these limits to the desired position along the line. Of course, I can adjust the two red limit indicators to achieve the desired effect, but this is a longer and more difficult process than simply adjusting a center indicator to move the entire text on the line (as In Illustrator). Am I missing something or is there a way to do this?
  13. There's a problem in the new version of the beta where the text will not change font when selected or change size. The text also appears above the text box
  14. I have made the site names on the maps I've created in AD all with the frame text tool. However, many of those I imported from Illustrator are in rectangular text boxes but are artistic texts when I select them. A frame text is much easier to get out of (click outside the box and choose a tool = my own shortcut) but with artistic text I have to push esc a couple times and then select a tool. I often click outside (forgetting that the name is not a frame text) and then have to get back to where I was before. Earlier an AD moderator seemed to like my idea of making a click outside an artistic text work like it does with a frame text---and I hope that will appear in some update. In the meantime, is there anyway to change an artistic text to a frame text (either individually or globally)? I do not see this option in the bottom left of the Context Toolbar. To date I've simply been creating a new frame text and replacing the artistic box, but for thousands of names, that is a real chore. Many thanks. PS: All of my work with text anchored on a stroke must of course be artistic text, but any reason why my text within what appears to be a frame text rect is actually artistic text? Just wondering if there is any answer.
  15. The bounding box that appears when selecting artistic text objects is incorrect in AD 1.4.1 on El Capitan. Please see screenshot. EasyRE Walmart Flyer.afdesign
  16. 1) Create two artistic text objects (or just create and clone), 2) enable all snapping options, 3) randomly place the first somewhere in the document, not aligned/snapped to anything 4) try to line up the second to start at a random y position under the first, but to co-incide the x positions of the two artistic text objects The only viable snapping option will be to snap the start of the current artistic text box to the start of the previous artistic text text, i.e. the bottom one we are trying to place will be skewed (usually) to the right of the top one because you are snapping box to padded content within box (the start of the previous text).
  17. AD & AP: The "Bitmap" fill type option is only availabe if Gradient tool is activated. If it's possible and convenient with the Serif software design concept, please add this also directly to the Fill and Contour option of Text tool. I once used it with the Gradient tool "accidentially" correct, but it's over two weeks ago and I could not recall from brain (or whatever there is) - I was searching for over an hour...   Cheers (time 4 a beer :P), Roland
  18. Please may I suggest: I am really missing 3D Artistic Text, so in Photo and Designer. Using the Mesh Wrap and Perspective Tool should not convert Artistic Text into Pixel format. This features would be really useful to have them added. Many thanks in advance! Cheers, Roland
