  1. Hi all, I'm working in Infinity Photo iOS on my iPad Pro and need to make a selection using the Pen tool. I can't figure out how to make a sharp anchor point to join two curved paths (please see attached). Normally in Photoshop, I'd hold down the alt/option key and click on the anchor to activate the "V" corner feature so I can adjust the two tangent handles independently, but I don't have this ability on the iPad. I tried the "Sharp" and "Smooth" bottoms in the Node mode, but they just toggle between straight-lined joints and curved lives without a corner. The path handling tool doesn't seem to be too intuitive, and I need to use the Pen tool to make precise selections. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a feature like Photoshop's "Exclude Overlapping Shapes" or "Intersect Shape Areas"? I find that when I create a smaller shape within a large shape, the large shape disappears.
  2. Hi all, I would really like to be able to apply a corner style to curves, similar to the way I can already apply it for a rectangle. In fact, it would be great if I could apply it to any shape! ^_^
  3. Hi guys It seems that I am not able to join nodes from different curves with the pen tool, like I am used to in for example Adobe Illustrator. I think it would speed up my work enormously if I were to be able to join different curves’ nodes with the pen tool instead of drawing extra nodes, selecting these and applying the action Join Curves every time. I hope you will consider this. Thank you!

[AD] Brush Path is very jagged.

Hi Guys, Looked over the forum to see if there was a report for something similar. I came across this while trying out some brushes in AD. I'm sure it's not the driver or the tablet, but I'm not sure if this issue is limited to only the pixel persona of AD or extends over to AP as well, you'll have to see. For evidence, please see one of my examples attached. The issue is that the brushstroke path looks like it's been composed out of polygons instead of a smooth freehand curve.
  5. Hi guys and wonderful Moderators, I know it's been probably said in a few posts but I'd like to list some of what I think are a few of the most needed features in AP. 1. refine masks uusing levels and curves, this is the most important thing, I'm not talking about refine edges or similar, I'm saying that once you created a mask to have the possibility to open a curve or levels adjustement for that mask to refine its range, as things are now we are pretty much stuck with the mask as it is at the moment of creating it, I just refuse to believe such thing is not available in AP, it's a foundamental feature, I mean AP has equations, EQUATIONS!!! and we can't put in this feature? 2. Some sort of luminosity masks panel, YES I'll ask for it for as much as it takes, even if it means having you put one in out of desperation for not having to read my every post about it. And I mean a full fledged LM panel, not the select midtones/shadow/highligh thingy, I mean a zones system/varying degrees of shadow/midtones/highlight selection though masks maybe. Seriously the channel way of doing it manually as it is now is cumbersome and uneffective, resterize layer to mask? really guys? nice feature but let's just step it up. 3. color picker when using the HSL tool 4. More color selection well...selections, blue, red and green are not enough really, maybve axpand to yellow, cyan, magenta. 5. slice tool to percentage or exact slices, as of right now I find the slice tool really...casual and amateur, would be nice to tell AP to: 'slice the image in 3 part vertically', insted of the free hand tool, which is pretty much useless imo. 6. suggestion for 3 filters, one is the tonal contrast equivalent, would be nice and save a lot of time having some sort of tonal contrast in the live filters, baybe a dynamic brightness too. your glow filter, nice idea, but poorly implemented all it does is blow out the highlight, maybe making it s that it protect saturation and luminance in some way, that's be nice. 7. create a panorama out of the opened files, same goes for hdr, it's really bothersome having to export all images before having AP create a new pano. 7 1/2, come on guys, let's just have an 'align layers' option, I don't know if i'm doing somehing wrong but stack create stack in the arrange panel doe snot align anything if you're not opening a brand new set of images, we need to align layers in an opened file. Thank you guys for this platform in which you allow us to give suggestion, I know i may sounfd just like the usual run of the mill whyny customer, but I do complain because I believe in this software and its possibility. Seriously though, take into consideration these suggestion, let's not just trail behind Photoshop, let's make a clear jump foreward.
  6. When I make an opened curve, like V shape, the align stroke to inside or outside don't work, it stays centered. If I close the curve it's ok.
  7. 'morning guys/gals, 2 quick questions please (and thanks): 1) in the image below (thumbnail and file attached) you will see a logo image that was originally on a black rectangular background. I cropped the L and R sides to get rid of portions of the background so as to create an even-ish border. How can I get rid of the still-remaining blue lines outlining the original boundaries of said black rectangle background? ...and, 2) in order to distort/stretch this image (logo portion), don't I simply 'convert to curves' the grouped layers then click/drag whichever node I'd like to 'pull' on? My goal is to be able to manipulate the image by independently move nodes to create perspective changes in some cases, or make the image look curved in other cases (as if on a cylindrical surface such as a telephone pole, etc). Does the image/layers need to first be flattened. Big thanks from a newbie! -Christo CVlogoBlueCropLines.afdesign
  8. I have three overlapping circles and I want to create new shapes/curves from the seven intersections. To achieve this I select all three circles and press Layer -> Geometry -> Divide. This does create the seven curves I want, but also about 20 other curves that I have to delete since they are so small they aren't even visible. Unfortunately the newly created curves do not perfectly fit together. Now I can see the white background where the circles used to intersect. This also happens when I compound them manually. Is this expected behaviour or should I use a different technique? Thanks.
  9. Well not sure if this is Feature Request or Feedback but i'll put it here. I went a head and bought Affinity Photo and this is a list of things that annoys me after a couple of days usage, on windows btw. Curves: - Can not undo curve edits, except when in picker mode then you undo way to much with a single ctrl-z ..please find a middle ground for both, this is just silly. - Slightest miss click creates a new curve point, needs to be more forgiving (same thing goees for when in "picker" mode, it's impossible to work with). - Only the center grid is overlayed on top of the histogram, makes it hard to do precis edits - No numbers for added "keys" so I can not make exact edits specially important in LAB mode - No shortcuts to switch between L/A/B in LAB mode, having to use the drop down slows down workflow - 1 more subdivision of grid drawing - Please don't be like photoshop with a fixed size of the Curve interface, I relay want to scale it up. - When using the "Picker" option you can not just click on the image to set out "safe" areas, you have to click and drag to change the value, which breaks LAB color workflow rather hard. - When using "Picker" mode there is no preview in the curve editor where my point new points might be added. Blend Options: - Histogram display would be nice - Preview of mask generated by curve would be nice - Would be nice to have a "picker mode" like thing for this, not sure how it would work but feels like it could be awesome Gradient Tool: - Probably user error but why does it always started in white to %50 gray, I want it to be white to black always. Presets: - Adding presets is easy and nice, but I can not access them from my tool, like my curve presets..I have to have the "adjustment" window up for this...please give me direct access to preset within the current tool.
  10. Ok this is starting to drive me nuts. I've been using Affinity Designer for at least 6 months for various small non-professional projects and it's been fantastic. I'm trying to create a drawing of the side panel of a bar-top arcade game I'm building which I'll print out and use as a cutting template. I've drawn two shapes and want to join/ add them. The two shapes have given every indication of having snapped together, but every time I select them using the move tool and hitting the add button it groups the two shapes/ curves rather than adding them and losing the line between them leaving just the outline. I've used add to create the top shape, but these two won't add together. Ultimately I could live with this, but I really want to put a radius corner on the bottom right corner of the top shape where it connects to the bottom. Can anyone explain where I might be going wrong? I'm using v 1.5.2 on a Mac (10.12.3) in the draw persona.
  11. One very powerfull set of features would be curves that are not merely lightness based like the Hue VS Saturation VS Lightness Curves in Davinci Resolve. The ability to change saturation based on lightness or hue is a killer feature.
  12. After I draw a curve using the pen tool. Is these anyway I can write my text along that curve (like you can do in CS Photoshop)? Thank you.
  13. First, I'm used to Photoshop & am pretty new to Affinity. I've had it for just a few days now. I'm trying to get text to curve and I'm really having trouble. It seems each tutorial I've watched says to create a shape then click the Text tool & simply hover by the outside of the shape for the squiggly line to show up long side the "A" where the curser is. The problem is that I cannot get that to happen. Just normal, straight text. I cannot get the text on a path. Somebody please help me before I lose my mind.
  14. Update: I managed to solve the delay problem by starting AP while holding CTRL and clearing all settings. The rough strokes are still present. Also the faster you draw, the more edgy (rough) the curve will get. Update 2: Another Useful note for people who have problems with the delay: A thing you might want to do, is to rename the file "c:\Windows\System32\wisptis.exe" to something like "c:\Windows\System32\wisptis.exe_". This is the file responsible for a build in (Windows) Tablet Service which causes a delay by itself, different from the delay that is exclusive to AP. It was spawning for me every time with Affinity Photo, no matter which settings i changed in order to prevent that from happening. So renaming was the only viable solution for me. ------------------------------------------------------ Hello there, i'm glad to see the Affinity line on Windows, but i have some problems in Affinity Photo. First of all, the brush stokes are delayed for about 100ms (roughly estimated). Rapid strokes as in writing text becomes a hard task. Also, maybe because of this, in the time of the delay, the part of the line you are drawing (within that delay) will be drawn as a perfect straight line, even if you try to do circles for instance. To top it off, the brush stokes themselves look very rough, and curves are not smooth at all. you can clearly see fractions of straight lines that make out the curves you want to draw. These problems are not present in other, similar applications. I want to mention that, different to other applications i tried, the brush looks very pixelated on settings near 100 for hardness. this could be intentional, but i wanted to include it. - Tests are done with a Intuos4 and a Trackball with the same results - I'm on the latest version as i'm writing, - Windows 7, 64 Bit Best regards.
  15. I would like to curve my font around clip art or pictures when making certain designs for logos and T-shirts, but I can't find where or how to do this. Please tell me it is possible and tell me what I am missing and how to do it. I am looking to curve up, curve down, bridge up and bridge down and circular Thank you, Scott
  16. Hi everyone! If there is a technique to convert single curve into an object which I could cut (mask) afterward? Simply I need to make stroke of text transparent and also I need if the stroke cuts objects behind (my object is just a line made by pen). The image is going to be a transparent sticker and I would like separate a text from a roll( my lines) by empty spaces. I have no idea how to do it in Affinity Designer  I attached example. Thanks a lot
  17. Hi all, I'm creating an illustration of a scooter as a project. I'm wondering how I might get better curves around the wheels and hubs (pic attached). I remember, there's a 'smoothing' tool in a version of AI I had once. If not, what is a good workaround? Thanks in advance, Kevin
  18. Please could we have a simple Merge Node command. It is fundamental to building various shapes by hand and its absence in Affinity Designer makes little sense. I would like to be able to take two open nodes (typically from two separate curves joined with add), overlap them, select them both and merge them. The result should be a single node which inherits the respective bézier properties of each side. Creating objects with the pen and pencil tool then joining them with other creations is a complete and total pain right now. I covered a related problem in some detail here http://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/26930-joining-nodes-without-losing-bézier, however the problem of joining separate curves in Affinity Designer remains frustratingly counter intuitive and often produces unexpected or unintended results.
  19. Is there a possibility to delete points on adjustment curve? I can't do that or simply don't know how.
  20. The problem — I can't break curve in symbol. When I braking curve in symbol, layer just removes... And designer crashes every second time only if I breaking curve in symbol. Curve became like ghost. I can see only contour and it does not exist in layers and symbol anymore. If I deselect it, it completely disappears.
  21. Hi, I tried working on a stroke and played with it to get a brushed feel. But when i expanded the stroke, It has toooo many points which is impossible to edit later. ( refer attached) As the points are too many, this also makes the application heavy and closes the app. It will be good if the points on a curve are optimised. Let me know if i am doing anything wrong?
  22. Hi, if you open the following SVG: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flagge_Israels#/media/File:Flag_of_Israel.svg the triangles are not the same as the original (see attached image). But if you change the value for "Gehrung" from "1,41" to e.g. "2", then the result is fine Cheers, Stefan.
  23. I'm trying out some basic shape stuff in Designer for Windows and I'm unable to Add a straight Pen line and a rectangle together (I'm trying to create a drip effect). However whenever I select both the rectangle and the line and try to Add them together the line disappears. Same thing happens when I attempt to combine them as well. I've tried shifting the layer order around and still nothing. I've attached an image to show where I am at the moment and what I'm trying to achieve. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
  24. (On Windows Beta) Hi, Is it possible to scale a curve without the containing image? For example: I've a rectangle with an image as sub-layer. So I use the rectangle as cropping. (Because I needed to rotate the image). If I scale the rectangle, the image is scaled with it. Is there a way to prevent this (like cropping does)? Thanks, Andreas Furster
  25. Hello Affinity, Would be great, snap raster brush to any curve line while drawing... sorry for my english, is little bit limited ;)
