Currently, only Affinity's iPad apps allow you to use touchscreen gestures to rotate the document view. Affinity's desktop apps on the other hand, do not support touchscreen gestures for view-rotation, yet gestures for zooming in and out are supported. While there are workarounds for this such as using the ALT+Mousewheel Scroll shortcut and trackpad gestures to rotate the view, these can be cumbersome for those like myself who draw on touchscreens laptops and are used to using gestures for rotating the document view like in many other illustration and art creation apps. Given that prominent art creation desktop apps like Photoshop and Krita allow for touchscreen gestures for document or canvas rotation, and that the Affinity Desktop Suite already supports them for zooming in/out, it feels like an oversight to not support the rotate-view gesture on desktop as well, especially since it is supported on Affinity's iPad apps. If it helps, below is an example of how Krita allows for view-rotation using just a computer's touch screen.

Hi! I'm trying Affinity Photo v2 with the intention of leaving Photoshop after 20 years using it for Illustration and Photography (very good but too expensive in my case). Tried before with ADesigner v1 but didn't fit my needs. There is a tool I use a lot in Photoshop: the one to straighten photos: to rotate the image so that the ground is parallel to the horizon. In Photoshop (Camera RAW) I can fine-tune, moving with the cursor the percentage of rotation point by point: 0.1%, 0.2%, very precisely. Also, when I confirm the rotation, either Camera RAW or Photoshop itself automatically crops the photo so that there are no strange white spaces in the corners after the rotation. I have had a look but I have not found any of these two options in APhoto... do you know if it is possible to do it? Thank you very much for your help and greetings from Spain!

The Zoom/Rotation right click menu is not shown once I start adding objects. Only the object manipulation right click menu is shown. This happens on both Mac/Win.

Hello Affinity Designer community! I have been searching through the already asked questions and I couldn't find my answer so I am posting it here. I am looking for a way to change, or better yet, delete a shortcut for the Rotate View feature. I am on a Mac and the shortcut is ⌘ + Scroll Wheel Up or Scroll Wheel Down (Command + ...) and I am assuming for Windows it's the Windows key. Because it's next to the Zoom shortcut (Option key + Scroll Wheel) I keep messing up my view and I would like to know if there is a way to remove that shortcut. I have looked through the Shortcuts section in the Preferences tab but I couldn't find it. And in general, I couldn't find the shortcut that involve the scroll wheel. Could someone help me out please? Thank you kindly, Robert Reynik

Cmd/Ctrl + rotation to duplicate
ashf posted a topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
Would be nice if you could add a modifier to duplicate objects when rotating it like when moving it. -
This is something I don't remember seeing before 1.10.1 but now the rotate shortcut (⌘ and apple magic mouse scroll) continues to rotate when removing finger from the ⌘ key (I've also assigned a shortcut ⌘` to reset rotation) and when moving to the zoom shortcut (⌥ and apple magic mouse scroll) straight after using the rotate shortcut, it zooms as expected but if you continue to scroll while removing finger from the ⌥ key it rotates - I'd show a video to illustrate but I have no way of capturing key combos - tested on two different macs both running mojave

Since v.1.10, after I've worked on a few files, when I use the crop tool to manually rotate and straighten a photo, there is a lag and a jerky motion which makes it difficult to be precise. After restarting program it works properly for awhile. Performance setting attached Any thoughts are much appreciated. 2017 27" iMac 3.4GHz, 24 GB DDR4 RAM running Big Sur 11.5.1

I've been using the "R" key to rotate the Close Brush tool - but it rotates in large steps that make it unusable for the fine clone matching I wish to create. In Photoshop I am able to use Option + Shift + <left backet> or <right bracket> - and while this is a painful finger twister they do offer the fine controls. I would really love that in Affinity Photo - without the finger twisting - perhaps a much finer control by pressing the "R" key.

I have activated the configuration to rotate the canvas and it works, but there are times that it stops working, and it does not rotate anymore, I must exit the project to the project gallery and re-enter to make it work, it is an error of the app definitely. Please fix it

There was meant to be a new feature in 1.9 where you can hold CMD to rotate the canvas with the scroll wheel - I noticed it as an option in the "Tools" preferences too. For some reason this feature doesn't work for me at all. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug? I'm using a Logitech MX Master 3 mouse on an iMac.

How may one visually rotate a photo, with a random degree rotation, such as 8º, 17º, 58º, by use of dragging the mouse or cursor? The Crop Tool does this well, but the result is lost after deselecting rotated image! Neither may the rotated result be actually cropped, as a next step. Photoshop does this workflow well, and I wish to avoid work-arounds. My solution seems to be the OS screenshot to capture the carefully rotated result. Next open the screenshot to crop or cut away the blank slivers of photo, around the edges. If there is a method for Affinity to retain the rotation and thereafter allow cropping or cutting away the blank portions, please advise.

Issues/situation: When I rotate a photo in the Develop Persona it does not 'translate' correctly into Photo Person - but gives me a very strange set of coordinates and once I then export it from there it's back to the original rotation. Here's the specs for my computer: Mac Pro (Late 2013) Processor 3,5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 Memory 16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 Graphics AMD FirePro D700 6 GB Question: Is this just me or does anyone else have this issue? Also is it possible to set the rotation in Develop Persona to 90 degrees and/or have a hotkey for it? Screenshots: See attached screencast of the issue. ( Notice the coordinate system showing negative numbers ) Operating system: OSX Catalina 10.15.6 Affinity Photo: Version 1.9.0 Unusual hardware: Wacom tablet Intuos pro Any help or input on this matter is much appreciated. Thank you in advance. PS: if this post is in the wrong forum, then please let me know, and I will submit it in another. affinity_photo_rotate.mp4

For the design of machines I often need to connect 2 rotating parts. In attached example both cranks can be rotated individually. The green connection-piece should move Crank#1 to the right whenever Crank#2 is moved to the right. It probably goes beyond a little modification. But rumors say, Serif is working on 3D-modeling program ... would nice to get this function any which way. Connect two cranks.afdesign

Just been doing a Photo tutorial on RAW images ....there's a jpeg to compare to ...opened up the jpeg then RAW image...the RAW image came in landscape so had to rotate it.... Clicked back to the jpeg image and then back to the RAW...it had jumped back to landscape ...Any ideas why and how to stop it? I have 1.8 Desktop_2020_07.29_-_11_06_56_01.mp4

Hello. I’m struggling with transforming selected areas of designs in Affinity Photo. When changing the size of a selected object, even a little bit, the edges of the selected object become considerably blurred with an “anti alias” look to them. Same thing occurs when rotating a selected object to a new angle, even without changing its size. This ruins the original integrity of the selected object, changing crisp-looking edges to blurred. Trying to fix the blurring by hand afterwords is a huge interruption to workflow. In Snapping Manager, I already have “Force pixel alignment” checked and “Move by whole pixels” unchecked. This seems to prevent the blurring problem when simply moving a selected object. But otherwise transforming selected objects still creates the blur. Hopefully there’s a setting I’m just not aware of to prevent this from happening. Could someone please let me know?

Dear developers, I made a project in Publisher, where include two pages/spreads. When created new project add to 2 landscape pages. After created this, on second spread turned on Portrait option. Project was saved, Photo Persona showed perfect (exclude bleed). When I opened this project in Affinity Photo, then second page leave landscape, but objects is portrait. Open again in Project, second page show normally, no problem. Please fix this (too)! Here is screenshots in my bleed bug post:

Hi - I've been tinkering with Publisher and want to leave the current program I use, but am stuck on what's probably a simple solution. I'm trying to fill a rectangle and want the fill to transition horizontally like in the attachment, but I can only get it to vertically, blue on left, red in middle, yellow on right. I'm sure there's something very simple I'm missing, but I can't figure it out. In the program I currently use, there's an "angle" adjust to rotate the fill to any orientation I want. Thanks!

When you embed a drawing created in Designer in Publisher and then rotate the drawing, the light source of bevels do not rotate with it. However the light sources of drop shadows do indeed rotate. This should be consistent (lights should rotate in both cases), since it messes with the overall drawing. See my other post here for more details and a demo file.:

When I have a layer selected I can use CTRL+Drag (in Windows, or whatever it is in OS X) to clone it, and that’s great. But, when I rotate or shear a layer, I cannot also clone it by using CTRL+Drag. I have to make a duplicate and then rotate/shear that. That’s not too much hassle but I think it might be nice to be able to clone a layer while rotating or shearing. Does anyone have a reason why this is a silly idea? If there’s a specific reason why it shouldn’t be done, or there’s some better functionality that could come in the future that could better use this modifier key, then I’m happy to drop this line of enquiry. Just thought I’d mention it.
