  1. Hi, I just started using Affinity Photo on my iPad 6th gen (2018). I couldn’t find a way to apply “live filters” to my image. What I did is: Tap “Filters studio” > Enable “Live filters” > Select a filter on the list Now the only option I have is “merge”, and the live filter lightning icon doesn’t appear (see screenshot below). If I click “merge”, I can’t modify the filter parameters afterwards, nor apply a mask to the filter. Am I doing something wrong? Or are live filters simply not available on iPad 2018? Thanks for your help
  2. I'm running Affinity Photo on Windows 10. Version 1.7.1.404. I'm also a new user of Affinity software. I've got a basic rectangle and I've added 2 live filters: Gaussian Blur Procedural Texture I seem unable to edit either. Double clicking either seems to select the entire group/layer as seen in the attached photo. If I right click on the mask and select "Edit Filter" my entire image just turns white (as if all layers are disabled - even though they're all still checked). I can only get my layers back via UNDO. Side note is the only way I've been able to delete a live filter is to "release it" and THEN delete the new layer. Is there a better/faster way? I can disable the filter with a single click but I try to keep my layers/filters organized and remove the ones I don't need. Thanks!

  4. Hello everyone ! Hello Team ! Well, i just want to make this request/suggestion that i believe will be of great interest for many in this community. We love affinity Photo a lot but still there are point we often disagree with and tends to make use of other tools but we end up lose a lot of time and some time lose it all. Among those so much wanted features i notice the precious Skin Tone Fine tuning. Well, there are tons of methods that we can use to fine tune our skin tone but when looking closely they are intended for Pro or peoples who have considerable experience with Photo software, but when it comes to newbie ... they just lose it all. So i propose a New Skin Tone Fine Tune - Live filter to be implemented; that live filter must allow us to work fast on skin tone applying quick and auto mask to the subject skin so we can work on it. A bit more ? Well, I suggest this : - an Auto detection of skin tone to be implemented the second we select that filter then a quick mask applied, allowing us to fine tune the mask because skin also share the same color as background and environment. - After mask is okay then we can play with the sliders few of them can be : Smoothing, Brilliance, Vibrance, clarity, sharpening, blemish correction and maybe Hue (for those playing the Hulk stuff) ... do not forget to add a color/picking tool to allow average color picking (kind of manual method for those wanting to select precise areas or ranges) - All this should happen in live mode so we see in real-time what we do and how is the output - When all necessary tuning are done, just click apply Making this a Live filter is a plus that will enable us to come back to it tuning again and again thus increasing the interest Newbie and learners (and even Pro) may have about Affinity Photo. Believe this: the day you will offers us such quick way of working a lot of people will be at peace. Please do not remove or delete the actual way of doing the same job as many people like to do things manually so they have to be satisfied. May another one in this forum fine tune this suggestion for the good. Blessings until this is implemented for the Good of Photography.

    The Coolest Filters for #AD

Can't wait to share these live filters!! I've found it from this link, the author told me that he was saved Affinity Photo filters as Assets and now #AD can use live filters as well, but perspective fitler not working properly Any way it's definitely cool in #AD, try it now Afans Live Filters - for Designer 1.6.zip
  6. In this video, I am going to show you a unique technique for sharpening a portrait in Affinity Photo. I think its the best way to sharpen a Portrait in Affinity Photo. I hope you like it. Please Subscribe this channel and share this video on your social networks.
  7. Hi, i'm just wondering about the live filter/perspective.Looks good at first sight, but subsequent corrections are nearly impossible. When the live filter perspective has been applied, any further mouse click is no longer related to the picture. Depending on how strong you corrected the distortion any tool you are usinf after the filter is no longer in sync with the mouse click. This makes this live filter useless to me. Or am i doing something wrong? Currently i'm using the normal filter for this, but this is destructive and cant be re-adjusted if you are not satisfied with the first attempt.
  8. Can I use NIK filters as live filters like in PS where if you work on a smart layer, Nik shows as a smart filter.
  9. Affinity Photo 1.6.7 Live Filter Layer thumbnails and Mask Layer thumbnails in the layers panel remain white at all times and don't reflect changes to the mask (inverting the mask, painting areas in or out, etc.). However, adding any new layer causes the previous layer's thumbnail to display properly with the alpha correctly represented. Adjustment Layer thumbnails still behave as they should, when they should. This is only a problem with the thumbnails of Live Filter Layers and Mask Layers.
  10. How do I cut out precisely (!!!) the range I selected with the distortion filter "Sphere" - no matter live or destructive. I tried everything, giving up... FYC: if I make a circle selection first, I never get the range spherized I want to... Why is this filter limited to 1024 pixels??? Thanks for all reply in advance
  11. Hi, There is a bug in blending of layer groups in AF 1.6.1.93 when all of the following conditions hold: - layer group contains no pixel layers, not even disabled ones - layer group contains a live filter layer - blend mode of layer group is set to something other than Normal Easiest demonstration I have is to take the attached afphoto document, and experiment with deleting the empty and disabled pixel layer. Deleting this layer should make no difference, but the image rendered is completely different. To see the change you may need to force a redraw to get around a failure to refresh the image, you can do this by disabling the layer group and re-enabling it. The correct application of the blend mode happens only when the pixel layer is present. layer_group_blending_workaround3.afphoto
  12. Hi. I'm trying to export this file, but it won't render correctly, and it won't export correctly either. Some of the live perspective layers clip incorrectly when exporting. Design by Ajay Style Guide Aesthetic > Depth Perspective Drawing.afdesign
  13. Hello! I was trying to create a Photoshop mockup like one in Affinity Photo I just opened an image on Photo and placed a vector document which I worked on Affinity Designer. Then I applied the live perspective filter which didn't rasterize the document and worked as a perfect Photoshop smart object alternative. But whenever I try to align the corner points of the live perspective filter, the software crashes with no crash reporter popup window. And also sometimes it doesn't crash instead render the document improperly. I have attached the links for you people to take a look at the issue. Please look into this issue! I have no additional plugins installed, latest graphics drivers installed and have even tried a fresh install of the software but the issue persists. Watch this video to see AP crash when applying live perspective filter - Watch this video to see the improper rendering of the same filter when applied succesfully with no crash.
  14. In AP 1.6.1, if I put halftone filter in the mask position of a layer group, the result renders incorrectly. This is most visible if you try to zoom into the image. Each time it is redrawn during zooming, a completely different version is rendered, and it is also getting gradually darker. Try zooming around in the attached file to see what I mean. halftone_render_issue.afphoto
  15. Hi folks, by accident I found out that those Live Filters from Affinity Photo are working very well also in the Designer environment. It's as simple as cut&paste a filter layer from a Photo project into a Designer project. I've tried to upload a small example with two effects... So why not make the filters available directly in the Designer Filter Menu? Best regards, AC Lens Effect.afdesign
  16. When applying a non-destructive Motion Blur filter and nesting them into a layer (tested with text layer), screen updates are confined to the bounding box of the original layer, even if the radius setting will make the result expand beyond the original bounds. Moving the result around will leave artifacts behind that can be cleaned up by forcing a redraw (eg. by toggling visibility on a layer that covers the entire document). Version is Photo 1.6.6 App Store build, Renderer set to OpenGL, Use Precise Clipping off, OS X 10.11.6. I've also had issues with the preview clipping the motion blurred result to the alpha of the base layer despite "Preserve Alpha" being off, but I cannot reproduce this after a reboot, even with the same document.
  17. Hi all, First time posting here, so I hope this is the appropriate place... I'm creating an image with multiple layers - I run a small theatre company and this image will be used to promote a touring show. It's a countryside scene with a group standing in the middle, and around the edge I have a black silhouette of leaves, branches, rushes, etc. to frame the picture. I've applied a light (1-2px) gaussian blur as a live filter to these silhouette layers in order to soften them and give a sense of depth. However, when I export the image, the gaussian blur is removed, and the leaves, etc. appear sharp again, as if I hadn't applied the blur. I tried rasterising the layer before exporting, but when I did, the blur was removed in the resulting pixel layer. I removed the live filter and tried applying the blur as an effect, but when I flatten or export the image it still gets removed. I tried applying the blur as a normal filter - the correct result shows when previewing and moving the slider, but when I hit apply the blur is removed again! I don't know if I'm missing something or whether this is actually a bug, but if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it! Other than this, I'm loving both Photo and Designer!
  18. How about giving us some more control about how a live filter affects an image? Example: Live Blur
  19. So when are the live filter grid lines going away?
  20. Hi I'm using Photo 1.5.2.69 on Windows. A few times I open a photo from Lightroom (exported as a TIFF) and immediately add a new live filter perspective layer. I move the corners around and Photo exits with no warning. Windows 10 64bit with 16GB RAM. Thanks Andy
  21. While the twirl filter is active, (starting from the Interactive Introduction), tapping on the active layer will reset the position of the twirl, but not the amount or radius, so i assume this is a bug (due to inconsistency, it doesn't look like a "reset feature"). This also seems to happen inconsistently with live filters (after converting it to a live filter, i expanded the layer in the layer palette, tapped on the live filter layer, and the settings were reset, but i couldn't reproduce it a second time). While the same filter is active, changing the opacity of the active layer with the opacity slider results in extreme flickering. Once the finger is removed from the slider, the opacity is shown seemingly correctly. When it's a live filter there seems to be considerable problem with visibility. Parts of the layer are missing, or not updating, when toggling visibility, opacity, and changing filter settings (like the Twirl position), seemingly as a consequence of the live filter. Please see the screenshot attachment. EDIT: when i toggled away to another app and back to Affinity Photo, this corruption clears up, which validates that it's a bug, not some kind of hidden masking (sometimes zoom and pan will force a successful redraw, sometimes not). Also, it would help a lot to have there be some kind of labeling on the filter controls panel to indicate to the user that they're working with a static filter or a live filter. There's really nothing on the screen that lets us know what we're doing if we've walked away and come back mid-action.
  22. Hi everyone! I have a question about using displacement tool and screen mode for blending a new layer with an underlaying layer. It is possible to make fake graffiti art's on walls with these two tools. Using these tools to make a fake tattoo on a skin. There are many video's for photoshop about making fake tattoo's. But it is different to Affinity. I was wondering if someone knows the answers for making fake tattoo's. My second question is about using screen mode. It automatically makes my text white. Is it possible to change that to black or an other color? Thanks in advance! Joran
  23. This is probably a very unhelpful bug report, but... When I use the Perspective Live Filter layers Affinity Photo (1.5.1.54) often crashes, straight into the "Windows has encountered a problem with this application and is closing it". It happens frequently, but I can't see any sure-fire reproducible pattern. All I can say is that I use it with (Image) layers, maybe that helps narrowing the problem? Thanks!
  24. Hi All, I would like to use Affinity Photo to create some nice low ploy art. In other software packages you draw some triangles and apply an average blur. In attached image I have started to draw some triangles using the pen tool and grouped them above the image. Please can someone help and advice if there is a way to apply a blur effect on the entire group which will affect the image underneath it. (Not the pen border). Any help is much appreciated! Thank you.
  25. Bizarre one this! MBAir running 10.11.4 - Affinity 1.4.1 Using the Perspective Live Filter to correct an image, which works as expected. Set to Show Grid to get the Verticals correct. Then use a duplicate screen layer to lighten the building and for some reason the grid lines are retained onto the picture when exporting or saving back into Lightroom. See the attached screen grabs and exported JPEG showing grid lines on and off depending on the screen layers visibility. Look at the cyclists at the bottom centre of the frame on the JPEG to see lines clearly. Edited to add, when opacity is set to 100%, the lines are not visible, but when set lower, the lines become visible Any ideas?
