  1. Good evening! I try to get used to Affinity Designer and now have a problem to work with nodes from an SVG file. I have a file that gets loaded asa single layer object. I now want to select some nodes and group them as new object or to cut them with ctrl + x but it always cuts the whole big object, not only the selected nodes. I can delete selected nodes. There is the "Divide" tool, that does get most parts separated into own objects, but sometimes has problems with thin lines like with my shield, it makes big filled objects instead of thin lines. Maybe someone can tell me how I can get own objects out of closed nodes? Problem this shield: gets divided to full black objects: HTML5-SVG-SingleObject.svg shild.svg
  2. Is there any way to group a number of palettes, undock the group, and then toggle the group on/off with a shortcut key? For example, I would like to group Histogram, Scope, and EXIF in one undocked palette that I could toggle on/off as needed with a shortcut key for the group. That would make it very easy to have a clean uncluttered workspace while offering easy access to tools and palettes with a minimum of keystrokes. There are other groupings that I would like to set up but having to call each one individually is a royal pain. Am I overlooking something? Is there a better way to accomplish this?
  3. Hi Today I encountered what seems like a bug to me. When I group some objects in Designer and then proceed to scale them, they scale from the opposite reference point (only left and right are swapped). Non-grouped objects don't behave like this. I've added a video of the problem. Thanks! Bauke Reference point.mov
  4. Steps to reproduce: 1. Draw some objects 2. Select all objects 3. Rotate the objects in any way 4. Press Command+G or right click and "Group" in context menu Actual result: Selection box of grouped objects is wrong. Expected result: Right result we can see if we group the objects before rotating them.
  5. Hi all, new user. How do I snap a slice to layer bounds? Can't figure it out from snapping settings. TIA, Jack
  6. When an object is deleted inside a group, it exits the group. It would be nice if it stayed inside the group. I found myself deleting, then double clicking to enter, deleting and the double clicking to enter. :)
  7. I have various layers (mostly text) inside groups and I want to pull them out and group them together so I can flatten everything else. After selecting them if I simply group them the items are scattered everywhere, including off the artboard. Instead I have to cut then paste everything. It's not a huge deal for me to do this but seems to be a bug.
  8. Hello, I miss the functionality for organizing groups without touching the mouse. If I had a shortcut for renaming a group or an element or could select one or more elements/groups with the keyboard, it would be a lot more comfortable. There are already the standard shortcuts for cut, copy, paste, etc, but it seems to me like they have not much value as long as I had to use the mouse. What do you think? Best regards Leon
  9. Hello, In doing astrophotography, these two features are really essential. I really love using AP for editing, but it becomes nearly impossible to with astrophotography because it's missing these two features. Especially because AP has features like LAB, it could be a really great tool potentially - and I don't think (at least the median mode) is very difficult to implement. They're useful for stacking photos - when taking pictures of the night sky without a tracker, you're limited in the exposure length you can use, because the Earth is rotating. To get a useful picture, you really need an exposure with at least ISO 3200, making very noisy images. The solution is to take multiple pictures and align them in post, and then use a median filter to remove the noise (which is incredibly effective). It's useful for other things as well - basically any noise reduction. There are perfectly clear stacks of images taken at ISO 25,600 or higher - and the median filter can get rid of people walking in front of a landscape, for example. My point is, these are really useful features for everyone and could add a lot to the abilities of AP and make it a very appealing software for another group of photographers.
  10. Can anybody please tell me what´s happening here? Am I doing anything wrong?
  11. I try to use inset stroke and then Expand Stroke in order to offset an object, but... If I want to delete the out side path, I have to select all of nodes? Please tell me the better way to do offset path or about selecting grouped path. I also tried to find Release Compound Path to solve the problem but I can't found it. (you can see attached file below)
  12. Hi I've just started learning Affinity and am loving it… I was a big Freehand fan and never got on with the other one. My question is this: I grouped a whole image in order to scale it up a little. When I ungrouped, I discovered all the objects were on one layer! Apart from being more organised at set up, is there a way round this? Alan
  13. Made a group of a few objects. Each has a different Opacity level. Select group, change group's opacity, expecting entire group to reduce transparency in proportion to each individual member's transparency, but instead all members of the group have their opacity set to a common/normalised number as per the transparency slider. The group on the left shows the problem.
  14. I was tidying up an illustration's layers, naming, grouping, etc. I noticed I had Group object which was not inside a proper layer in my Layers palette, so I decided to try the Layer > Promote Group to Layer command. When I select the command, my composition changes in the canvas. However, if I make a new layer using the Layer palette and the drag the Group in question, it works as expected... Attached is the master AD file. The Group/Layer in question is labeled "atmosphere." Try it out for yourselves and see.escape velocity.afdesign
  15. If you spend most of your time on Facebook I just created an affinity designer group there. Share your work, tips and resources! Here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/351282005040403/
  16. When I have a group selected and closed and I add a new pixel layer ( Command + Shit + N ) it should add the layer outside of the group. When I tried adding layers with a selected closed group and didn't see my layers adding I was confused. But after opening the group I saw all of the layers I had previously added. So either expand the group open if a layer is added to it, or make it so the a new layer is added above a selected closed group. And the same for new shape layers as well. Also as on observation when a group is selected (Blue) its hard to see the group arrow icon (light grey). Perhaps change the icon color to something that will contrast more when the layer is selected. Also an additional oberservation releted to the layers. When the check mark is toggled on the right of a layer all of the icons shift a bit up and down. Attached is a .GIF showing this happening.
  17. It seems that selecting a group in outline view is disabled. I can select the group in vector view but after deselecting then switching to outline view it only selects one object in the group at a time. Is this a "designed that way" or a bug?
  18. Hi, In the latest beta, the slicing tools are not working anymore with layers. Selecting any layers will not select anything in the view, and creating a slice from a layer will always be in the same area of the file whatever layer you select. You have to do everything manually so far.
