  2. Hi, id like to ask if is possible to have in Affinity Designer a effect similar to Ai Zig Zag? Maybe with custom brushes, effects or some kind of trick, maybe? Is that even possible? Thanks
  3. Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum and I just wanted to say how much I enjoy using the affinity designer software. 6. I have deleted art boards on a given document. Is there a way to automatically/manually renumber them to reflect the changes? For instance. If I have Art Board 1, Art Board 2, Art Board 3, and Art Board 4...if I delete Art Boards 1 and 4...is it possible to renumber Art Board 2 as Art Board 1...and Art Board 3 as Art Board 2?
  7. Hello, Just got Affinity Photo for iPad. Great app, thank you very much. I was wondering if there was any plans to create a Wave distortion filter, like Adobe Photoshop has. You can see an example of the Photoshop Wave filter in action right here: https://youtu.be/1CcdLwCRuQ0 You can create really cool glitch effects with this Photoshop filter. As a creator of glitch art I would love to see this added to Affinity Photo. I also think it would bring a lot of new users to Affinity Photo. Thank you.

    Media Man....

With the demise of DaisyTrail and the prospect of CraftArtist eventually fading away I thought it time to get to grips with Affinity Designer....well at least for making a scrap page! Extremely happy with my very first project....found my way around Artboards and the Asset Panel ( a sophisticated 'Digikit Browser!) and all my favourite 'Tools' were soon located. This project was created for a challenge using a collection called 'Mixed Media' .....I had a lot of fun creating it.
  9. Hello, I am new to the world of graphic design and using design software. Thanks to the informative videos I have found via this site, YouTube and Lynda.com., I am slowing learning. I have purchased Affinity Designer and the text book. I have illustrated and written a children's book, "The Exciting Travels of Tuffie and Giuseppe" (www.tuffieandgiuseppe.com) and used Microsoft Publisher to lay it out. I would now like to try and lay out my next book using Affinity Designer. My first book has 25 pages of about 30 paintings. I use 8.5 x 11 inch mixed media paper with acrylic ink. This is so that I can scan my artwork using a home scanner. I would love to hear any advice or about other experiences using Affinity Designer to lay out something like a very visual children's book. I also bought a Huion 1060 drawing pad which I am currently learning how to use. Thank you Ronnie McBride for your many informative tutorials. Thanks, Charla Perry
  10. Hey guys, just want to gather some experiences from people who might be using this software as a substitute for Photoshop on the go digital painting wise...and an idea on if it's worth the investment or not. since the release of the iPad Pro version i have been constantly looking through sites and forums for peoples experiences and the usual outcome is critical praise along the lines of a great substitute for PS but usually based off of the perspective from someone who used it with editing photos and not so much with illustration & painting. Basically my Cintiq is down and much of my work has fallen onto the iPad pro i'm not too interested in Astropad and i do have Mediabang and Procreate but both are always lacking many functions i love from using Photoshop i love concept art, texturing, sprite-work and animating so i'd absolutely love anyone else's input on personal experiences before i make the jump. Thanks! :)
  11. I draw in Affinity Photo and I've seen people draw and resize the lineart on YT. I just can't figure it out... Please give me a hand so I don't have to undo or erase and redraw the thing.
  12. Hey Everyone, Here is a timelapse video of me creating a watercolor still life painting in Affinity designer. I had a lot of fun playing with the different brushes and testing the different capabilities of the software. Enjoy! Here is the video from start to finish: https://youtu.be/y6l6-wOOf2A Let me know what you think? Thanks, Mike
  13. I'm thinking of buying the software but I want to know if this software (Affinity Photo) tends to Digital artist. Does it have varies brushes? Tools? To help with your art? And when updating; will it provide more tools for digital artist or just photographers?
  14. I've tried trail version and I can't even make a soft airbrush like Photoshop which I think very importance for photo editing. I see a lot potential on this software do not ignore digital painting users. so many artists are rely on Photoshop so if you can mimic brush feature and responsiveness like Photoshop also with this price its really a game changer I see a lot of money $$.
  15. Hi Im using MacBook Pro early 2015, Sierra 10.12.2 13", lastest Affinity Designer 1.5.4 Im using extended display on HDMI when i switching between two for ex. i take laptop out or plug it in, i see almost all UI turning black :D Its like that every time, only restart helps. Just holla if need more info about problem ;) Great job guys!
  16. I just bought Affinity Photo as I'm trying to move away from adobe products. Overall your software is stellar and I'm really happy with my purchase. Aside from photography I also do digital art and have been using photoshop with astropad for a few months now and it works really well. However, I tried the same setup with Affinity Photo and it works fairly well but there seems to be some random pressure inaccuracies. The lines randomly become thick abruptly. Is there some setting that will sort this issue out or is this a bug that needs to be looked into. I hope someone here can assist me. I've attached screenshots of Affinity vs Photoshop strokes using the same setup. You can clearly seem the random blobs on the strokes. Photoshop Affinity Photo
  17. Greetings Affinity Designer Users, I'm hopping someone can point me into the right direction. When placing and using a graphic individually on to the canvas, Usually, anything that spills or leaks out from the canvas has always stayed within the canvas "margin" and or does not leak out. That is until you select the Artboard Tool and then you can have as many Art boards (Canvases or aka as the projects pages) in your project as you want, and all the graphics are perfectly visible outside of the actual canvas size (with no clipboard mode being used) as it normally should. (Please see image attached) But then, WHY is it then, that a glitch happens out of nowhere sometimes when your graphics start leaking out of the ClipArt board Canvas, when clearly I DID NOT want to create an ClipArt? nor did i select it the Art board Tool. How can I fix this ? It used to be not long ago where it would automatically fix itself after restarting the software but its coming back up with the file itself and those same settings are now being saved with that same setting for when i open up a new graphic art file. In Other words, How can I turn OFF that "Art board" feature (where graphics don't stay within the chosen margins and never really disappear after it leaks out the confined dimensions of the page as it usually would when in Artboard mode) I don't want that feature ON when I'M NOT using a Art board mode nor the Art Board Tool in my project. I just want the regular mode with its margined canvas without the Artboard tool, and without my graphics leaking out of my main comp. (For an example of Please see attached image) Again, this is me NOT using the Artboard Tool here, and the graphics still leak. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it if anyone can get back to me! Best always, PJ
  18. I frequently use software to clean up hand drawn art. I use red(or blue) sketch lines and then ink over them, similar to standard practices in comic illustration. In photoshop there is a relatively simple process to remove the red lines and in recent years a script to handle the whole process. How can I do this in Affinity Photo(or designer)? Sample sketch attached.

    Ohhh, My Strawberry Monkey...

Hi All, I've had this idea for a while and finally i've got a few ideas up and its going in the right direction. Think clumsy Monkey who does silly things or just doesn't think... and the catchphrase with Jiraffe. May give it a new direction and turn it into in to a kids book at some point, or do i keep it adult based with interest for kids??? Probably would go down the route of Peppa Pig, Hey Duggee if it was aimed at kids. SO need to think about that but maybe keep it as is and look to get these published in a mag or online somewhere?? I still remember my comics as a kid and reading things like Hagar the horrible in the newspaper.. Anyway, thoughts & suggestions welcomed... Here are a few from the Ohhh, My Strawberry Monkey series Allan

  21. Do you have a plan to improve Artboard guides for universal workspace?(can see my attached file) I think this way is easier to create UI design, brochure and etc. On the current version is really awkward and rarely to use but It's better than nothings, however I can use copying an object from an Artboard and paste to other Artboards with the same position instead of making some guides ;). Cheers.
  22. Hi. I hope you dont mind me asking this question but I have got Photo not Designer and before this I was using PS to create line art from my drawings so I could digitally colour create them. I tried to use the process that I used before in Photo but I could not recreate some of the steps. I realise that things work differently but hoping that there is still a better way to do it then I ended up making. The process I used to use is below. The problem I have is that I cannot find a way to do the steps that I have marked in red. I ended up using the magic tool to select the white areas but it kept missing bits and was not a good solution for me and took very long and my selection was quite shabby and pixelated once I had finished. Can you advise what sort of process (if any) i can use in Photo to recreate this please. I dont want to have to buy Designer yet while I am still a beginner and learning the ropes in Photo. Creating Line art from Scans * Open scanned image in Photoshop * Make a copy of original layer and rename for easier finding * Adjustment layer – Black & White * Option box - check all options are in the middle default position of scale. If any altered bring back to middle. * Adjustment layer – Levels * Adjust as required to create more contrast and get rid of any unused white areas * Adjustment layer – Curves * Create S shape to enhance image * Go back to Copy layer and zoom into 100% and then go to Unsharp Mask * Big radius – 120 – 150% * Amount – 60 -90% * Threshold – low – 12 - 14% Touching up image to remove blemishes * Go to Brush and choose a standard brush using the black and white colours to remove any blemishes on image so image is clean * Then delete original layer Define line art * Select – Colour Range – options box – Select sampled colours/selection Preview-Grayscale/Invert/Image * Then use colour picker and click on white area within image – OK * This then creates marching ants around the line art with only the black lines selected * Select/Modify/Smooth – 2 pixels * Optional: Select/Modify/Contract – 1 pixel * Then fill the selection with black. Make sure foreground colour is black and then ALT+backspace to fill with black. * Invert selection again so white selected * Then hit Delete and white background removed so line art is now on transparent background. * Deselect with Control + D * Save this as a PS layer file for future use
  23. Well, I've got a question referring to the HSL Shift Adjustment. I have combined the HSL Adjustment with the Posterise Adjustment to create a really colorful and nice effect on an image. But when I export the picture or even zoom in the colors shift and a quite boring picture develops. So how is it possible to make these effects static to get my expected picture?
