  1. Can someone explain to me why this distortion is happing to the curve "H". I converted the character to curves, and performed a boolean operation. But the distortion isn't uniform, but it only happens on the lower part. I know it properly doesn't makes sense, so I have included a video.
  2. Is it possible to add support for FreePik (https://www.freepik.com/) or any other similar sites like the current 3 that we in the suite? An option to define it manually perhaps?
  3. I was just doodling with some shapes to try out the improved 'expand stroke', and this is what emerged. It started out as a coupe of cogs and an ellipse and a few Boolean operations, followed by a bit of inspiration and tweaking of nodes. When I was knee-high to a sketch pad, my grandfather -- a talented draughtsman -- told me to invoke inspiration by making a random scribble and seeing what it suggested. Good to see the technique still works in the digital age!
  4. Hey, in the new versión it doesn't work CMD+Z, and this function is also not available in the "EDIT" menu. impossible to undo!
  5. It will be an awesome feature if you put a "Selection method according to attribute" which means when we need to Select Same color (Fill or Stroke), same opacity, or same appearance. It is so much helpful after tracing an image to select a range of colors. When working on a flyer or packaging design for production selecting similar color or select strokes that have same thickness or fill color to change together all those needs select with attribute option. Consider a special tool for those selection purpose with a bunch of option to rectify and narrowing selection range or Add all those features to the Move/ Selection tool.
  6. Hi, I'm trying to place a logo I made in Designer into a Publisher file. I click File > Place > and select the file and nothing happens. I don't get an error message. Nothing. I tried reducing the file to only one artboard (because I recall there being an issue with multiple artboards) and tried placing that new file. Still no response. What am I doing wrong?
  7. Hello, I have installed the new version of 1.8 for all of my Affinity product. However, the moment I press enter to go to the next line the text format changes ?? such a weird behavior after installing the update. The file is attached maybe someone can take a look at it. You can take a look at the video as well. Is it a bug or maybe I am doing something wrong ? Thank you, text-frame-bug.mp4 text-frame-bug.afdesign
  8. (Very) quick digi-doodle to celebrate International Polar Bear Day.
  9. Hello, I am a very longtime Serif software user. Over the years I have had the following products. Serif Drawplus 4 Serif Drawplus 6 Serif Drawplus 7 Serif Drawplus 8 Serif Drawplus X2 Serif Drawplus X4 Serif Drawplus X8 Serif Webplus 10 I still use Serif Drawplus X8 almost exclusively, though I own a more recent version of CorelDraw. I prefer Drawplus overall. I would like to move to Affinity Designer soon, however, for the past 5 YEARS I have seen threads again and again with an employee claiming that gradient mesh is on the road map. I absolutely cannot switch to any product that does not offer gradient mesh as I use it in almost every project I create. There is no better way to produce a photo realistic nose on a face in my opinion. I simply will not buy a program without it while I can use Drawplus, CorelDraw, or even Inkscape and find the tool there. I have been waiting, for five years, to see an announcement that Affinity Designer has gradient mesh. I am almost done waiting. I need to know, definitively, will it come out this calendar year? If not, I will permanently move to CorelDraw. I would very much prefer to stick with you. Can you please give me more information than a vague statement that it is on a roadmap? Roadmaps typically finish out in less than half a decade. Is this actually going to occur? If you decided not to do it, that is fine. I am okay with moving to another product but I am tired of waiting for something this board was told in 2016 would eventually come out. Please have the courtesy to tell a life long supporter of your products if this is worth waiting for or not. Thank you.
  10. Hi, I was just opened Designer and noticed that there was an update, started working, and had to undo something, and noticed that undo doesn't work since the update with keyboard shortcut, not from the dropdown menu. Please fix this, it is a vital part working. Photo works perfect, the problem is within Designer.
  11. After installing Version 1.8 the Protokoll Funktion ist not working. I can not go back in the history. the protocol/history panels alway empty.. I can't use the SW at all. I don' have the problem with affinity photo and affinity Publisher after update to 1.8.
  12. Ok Serif / Affinity guys... This is driving me crazy! Previously I have submitted this suggestion, though I don't believe I was heard. IMO Affinity products desperately need the ability to auto-hide panels. See [https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/31218-multi-uiux-suggestion-auto-hide-panels/] I am using a very large notebook computer with a 17" screen. Large screen for a notebook, though smaller screen size for graphic design work. With this monitor using the panel controls in Affinity products is frustrating. There simply isn't enough room! I group panels needing more vertical space (layers, effects, history, brushes, etc.) together. Panels needing less vertical space are also grouped. Regardless how it is organized I do not have enough vertical space to effectively use the panels. Some of the panels require large vertical space, some medium, some smaller. With 3 stacked sets of panels the larger panels are way too cramped. Even if I group the medium and smaller panels together (which puts way too many panels in the smaller panel group), there still isn't enough vertical space for the larger panels. With smaller monitors, having panels on both sides of the screen (without auto-hide) is obviously impractical. Working with cramped panels is extremely clumsy and frustrating. Affinity UI panel design is not elegant for smaller monitors!!! If I could auto-hide panels (as was implemented in Serif *Plus applications), I could put panels on both sides of my monitor and have all the panels I find useful easily accessible. Current implementation forces users with 'smaller' monitors to make significant concessions in their use of panels. Regardless of screen size, the ability to auto-hide panel groups would be useful for all/most users, as this would allow users to better organize their application interface, and enable users to have more panels immediately accessible. This would make the use of panels in Affinity applications significantly more elegant. PLEASE consider implementing an auto-hide feature in panel groups in Affinity applications.
  13. Red Eyed Tree Frogs are native to Mexico, Central America and go all the way down to Colombia (perhaps on holiday). Its scientific name is A. callidryas, which comes from Greek words kalos (beautiful) and dryas (a tree or wood nymph). I was chatting with someone about drawing and she liked to do Victorian style flora and fauna illustrations (I think there’s a proper name for it but I forget). I said that I usually try for realistic when I mess around for fun and she wanted to see something. One her favourite things are frogs, she has lots of ornaments etc in her house. So I did this, I think it might be the first living thing that I’ve done properly although I'll probably do a bit more to it sometime. Just the pen tool, no textures.
  14. Created these two last week as part of a current project I'm working on. It's done fully on Affinity Designer with a mixed workflow of vectors and bitmaps.
  15. Recien actualice las apps y ahora el affinity designer no me deja usar Cmd-Z, el menu deshacer y rehacer siempre está desactivado!! Es imposible trabajar así! Que puedo hacer???
  16. I was getting frustrated until today morning working with imported CAD drawing with lots of curves due to the extremely sluggish response! I had reported this issue: Just downloaded 1.8 and it seems be much much better (as promised by @MattP) in the original thread. Thank you team affinity!! Keep up the great work
  17. UPDATE: This issue is now resolved in the 1.8.1 update which is now available from the Mac App Store.
  18. I run a household moving company... Not the most exciting topic for pics/adverts. So I use my logo in fun ways for the industry. Happy with my 45rpm vinyl image today. Thought I'd share.
  19. I learned a lot about using Affinity Designer for iPad with this piece. - To select multiple objects in the layers panel, tap the first item and then two-finger tap the last item. Those two items and all the intervening items in the same layer will be selected. This came in so handy for quickly selecting those hundreds of scales. Thanks to @DM1 for this one. - To add a gradient to a stroke, select the object (or objects or group!) and then open the appearance studio. Tap the stroke and then the gradient tool and drag it to position your gradient as desired. You can see the different stroke and fill gradients applied across the scales. Separate stroke and fill gradients gave me the most trouble though. Repeatedly the stroke would become unselected, or the fill would be selected instead (or vice versa if I was working on the fill gradient), or the gradient would disappear and I’d have to start over. These issues made adjusting the gradient quite cumbersome and a bit frustrating. - To snap nodes to each other, well I never did really figure out which of the little symbols it was... but if you turn on all the snapping options in the node tool’s context toolbar, your nodes will snap. This was great for aligning the tip of the tail. And I’ve been wondering about how to do this for a long time. - Oh and I found the in-app user manual which is basically a lifesaver. I wish I’d known about it sooner!
  20. I hope that I can describe the problem correctly. I am working on a logo, which should consist of the letters O and K. The K should be in front of the O, as well as behind the O. After I drew an ellipse, which should represent the O, and converted it to a donut, I wrote the K over it with the Artistic Text Tool. Next, I selected the two layers (the layer with the ellipse is on top) and used the geometry function divide. Then I deleted protruding parts from the K and colored other parts that should be displayed above the ellipse. Unfortunately very fine lines are always displayed. I don't know how I can prevent this. Can anyone help me? For clarification I have exported a PNG and I also provide my afdesign file. ok.afdesign
  21. Trying to get away from the photo-realism of my recent work, so set myself the challenge of creating a much simpler piece, and this was the result.
  22. Another one, featuring the same look-and-feel of my previous post. As the eye is always the main element, I thought of naming this one as the 1000 eyes of Doctor Mabuse – as in the Fritz Lang's movie. It's not as rich as the first one but I do like the depth of the layers I got with the radial elements.
  23. In this video, you will see the process from the sketch stage to the vector drawing stage of the Davraz Off Road logo, which I prepared using Procreate, Affinity Designer and iPad Pro. I hope you will like it.
  24. I'm using the current Designer beta (1.8.0.5). I have been encouraged by the new beta and much appreciate the much improved add and divide geometry tools. It's worked well with some tests I've run. I decided to test it out with a project I'm doing and ran into a few issues. I traced my sketch using the brush tool using the standard vector brush (100% vector) with the controller set to pressure and the stabilizer on. I then selected it all and expanded it - no problems there! I again selected it all and hit the "add" geometry option and the entire design disappeared. It actually made a new layer called "curve" above my artboard with nothing in it. I went back a step and tried doing the design in smaller chunks... it worked fine in some areas and not in others. When I have done designs like this in Illustrator, I've usually filled in sections with the blob tool or done a live paint fill. With Affinity not having those options, I fill in with strokes - potentially creating more work for the program to process. It's possible I did something wrong in my process. I know I used the same brush settings for the entire piece when I created it, so everything should have the same properties. I did increase and decrease the brush size at times. i included a video of the problem as well as the file with two layers - the unedited initial strokes and the other layer after I had expanded it in the video and attempted to add together sections Thanks for any assistance!
