  1. Hi SSovenok, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) There's an issue with a open dialog appearing automatically that may be causing this. It was fixed in the latest Beta which you can download from here. This fix will also be included in the next Mac App Store update. Just remember to keep the Mac App Store version installed since it's needed to validate/run the Beta in case you decide to install it.
  2. Now, here’s another vote for a non-App-Store version of Affinity software: There is no update check or alert inside the application. Apparently it’s only done via the App Store, and you have to be permanently logged in there in order to get notice of an update. I hate the thought that Apple is controlling what software I’m using and how I’m using it.
  3. *****UPDATE: WINNER HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED***** ...and we have a winner! DRUM ROLL PLEASE... Congratulations to Katie Porter! :D For those who didn't win, we are just putting together some freebie content we will be offering up on the Affinity Blog next week so I hope that softens the blow a bit and I hope you like them! Thanks to all who took part, we really appreciate all your support  *********************************************************************************************** As you may know, we now have a few iPad Pros at Affinity HQ and will be starting to devote more time to developing versions of Affinity for it in the coming months. They are incredible bits of kit, and we think—especially in conjunction with the Pencil (and Affinity when it's available!)—the iPad Pro will be a serious tool for creatives. Want to get your hands on one? We're entering anyone who helps spread our amazing App of the Year news on social media into a free draw! All you need to do is: Follow us on Twitter and retweet this tweet OR Like our Facebook page and share this post The winner will be chosen at random and announced on this forum thread sometime on Friday the 18th December. Best of luck! Kate
  4. Hi. I bought Affinity Photo on July of this year and I was impressed for the quality and power of this app. I kept using Photoshop for panorama stitches and other minor issues, as AF gave me all I needed. Now, with this new update I think I can erase PS from my MBP and I will not miss it. Congratulations for your work. This app is just amazing. And now, I have the opportunity to buy Affinity Designer with a discount, something I did not some months ago... As soon as I arrive my home I will purchase it too. Bye Cecilio
  5. Congratulations. And as you all know, with every major update, the ratings reset on the App store. So get those great reviews updated, and the ratings reposted.
  6. Big Congratulations - awesome team! And a nice website update :) PS: I´m without Adobe CC since a few days now (still have not made my decision for a DAM/ Viewer)
  7. Wow how did I not know about that sketch feature thingy. It's life changing and awesome update as always
  8. Affinity Photo is wonderful, and the Photo extensions are the best in the market. Thank you very much for this wonderful update. - The Photo extensions raise the value of Apple Photos a lot by adding lots of missing functionality. - I would love it when Photo would accept the Affinity file format natively with all the layers and non-distructive elements. Thank you! Best regards BlauerClaus
  9. I am using OSX 10.9.5 and have just installed the 1.4 update from the Apple Mac Store. It says it has installed but my version remains as 1.3.5. I have tried restarting my computer but this made no difference. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks Peter I've now uninstalled 1.3.5 and reinstalled 1.4 and that's solved the problem. No idea what was wrong . Looks fantastic - I'm going to enjoy exploring it. Congratulations to the team !
  10. Mi accodo al trevisan che m'ha preceduto... ;) Epic update!
  11. --------------------------------------------- [edit] This thread was originally about 1.4 updates in December 2015. The team have now also released 1.4.1 updates on Jan 20th 2016, incremental patches to squash some bugs—visit your App Store to update now! Read a little more about 1.4.1 updates. [/edit] --------------------------------------------- Hi all As many of you will know after seeing numerous beta versions over the last few months, our dev team have been working very hard and we're delighted to share the fruit of their labour with everyone! Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo both have new 1.4 updates available now in the Mac App Store, free to existing customers! And to celebrate these updates, both apps are now on a 20% discount offer to entice new customers, bringing the normal price of US$49.99/€49.99/£39.99 down to US$39.99/€39.99/£29.99 for one week, ending December 15th. Here's a little taste of what's new in both apps... Full support for DCI-P3 extended gamut iMac displays Pro printing including PDF/X and Pantone support Custom keyboard shortcuts More languages And a look at what's in Affinity Photo: Six extensions for Apple Photos on El Capitan Pro image stitching in new Panorama persona Live image stacks And Affinity Designer: Artboards! Custom rotation centre We've packed in plenty more too, more than some devs would add in paid upgrades :) There is also improved PSD compatibility, updated RAW support, improved typography, Split Screen on El Cap, workflow and performance improvements—all across both apps. Visit your Mac App Store update page to get your hands on the good stuff and see what else has been added in the 1.4.1 incremental updates. As always there is useful info on the Mac App Store pages for Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo and you can check out the overview videos on our blog. Thanks guys, you've knocked it out the park yet again! Thanks for reading, Dale.
  12. Yes, the Italian language version will be in a free update, maybe around Christmas time :)
  13. Hi, I'm Xavier, a freelance web developer and graphic designer from Barcelona,Spain, currently living in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. I'm pretty excited about adding Affinity Designer to my workflow. I have been using the trial for the past 2 days and I couldn't be happier with it. I've just purchased it and it feels like a great investment. I can't wait for the next big update to start working with art boards! See you around!
  14. Hello Maz Welcome to Affinity Forums :) The Affinity Photo extension isn't available trough the Mac App Store version yet. Only after the next update. To use it now you must install Affinity Photo Costumer Beta. Just remember to keep the Mac App Store version installed since it's needed to be able to run the Beta.
  15. Hi all, my name is Valentina and I'm from Berlin, Germany. I'm a pet photographer and a Mac user since 1989. I did not know anything about affinity, nor the development of a new professional photo- and design-software until last Friday. I was very thrilled about it and wanted to download a trial version at once. But I still had running Snow Leopard on my computer, so I had to update first. Well, here I am :) . I would really like to try affinity, to see, how it works for me. But today I didn't find a trial version... Would you please make a trial available again? I work on an older iMac and I would rather test it before buying. It would be just great to find another option than photoshop :-). Thank you and I'm looking forward to this new experience!
  16. Good morning all, My name is Mark and I purchased Affinity Photo yesterday so I could have a little play around and see what I thought. I must say what I have seen so far, I am impressed. I'm primarily a Lightroom and PS user and am subscribed to their monthly subscription (This may end soon ;)) As will all new systems you have to learn your way around and get to grips with things, in the hour or so I have had to play with Affinity Photo I know the basics so am happy. Also wondering if anyone is able to advise (Dev's) if there is going to be some form of cataloging system will introduced in a future update? Keep up the good work guys.
  17. I think you guys should stay with the concept of the old icons. The old / current icons gave an visual indication of the apps function — if theres a need or desire to update I feel that the visual indicator element must be maintained. Personal I thought the icons were fine.
  18. Hi, Byrne here in Northern California. I've been on Macs since OS 2. Canvas was my favorite drawing program until they abandoned the platform. Been suffering with AI ever since but version CS3 is evidently problematic on Yosemite and the whole subscription thing is egregious. So far, except for lack of arrowheads, dashed lines and a few minor others, Affinity looks and works better than Illustrator (at least CS3) in every way. I'm a retired teacher who mostly uses vector graphics to write science education apps plus the occasional mock-up of a shop project. To update my apps I'll need to update to Yosemite but will lose the use of illustrator. I suspect I'm not the only one in this bind and very much look foreword to the growth of Affinity Designer.
  19. Just an update, really, life rarely goes according to plan and I couldn't give the beta as much time as I wanted, But the break was good as, when I came back, Affinity Design suddenly felt like an old friend. Then along came Yosemite, I was one of the unlucky ones and this Mac has an appointment with Apple on Monday, it's hit and miss whether I can log in and I have to log in by using the first letter of my user name, enter, then my password. It works 50/50 and effectively that's meant a whole week when I'd cleared my 'desk' but couldn't log in to my Mac! But I've spent a couple of hours on here tonight and it just gets better and better, really getting to grips with the brushes and making mountain landscapes. I don't know how you managed to make the learning curve so easy (after a flirtation with Photoshop Essentials a while ago I never liked the idea of Adobe Illustrator), but I'm glad you did.
  20. Those of us who were brought up on DP and always bemoaned the fact that DP couldn't be used on a Mac can now say WOW! its the top seller in the Mac Apps Store! Well done Serif. Roll on the next update.
  21. No sales data yet - the App Store doesn't update so frequently (fair enough - I guess they have a lot of data to process!). So far, it says we have sold 14 copies :D (And none in the UK - I bought it at zero hour, so it's way, way behind). We probably won't share exact numbers for the launch period, but I'll try to make sure we give you guys some feedback as to how we did! AndyS
  22. Howdy all! I'm Michael Rhodes, cartoonist, storyteller and illustrator. Got to this party a bit late, only got the beta yesterday and been playing around in it to get a feel for the app and now am working on character sheets (just for grins&giggles I tell myself, knowing full well this is a shake-down of what AD can do and what I can do in it). I am in the process of de-adobe-izing (and I make up words on a moment's notice) my graphic work flow. Lately I've only been using Illustrator just to letter my comics as ol' illustrator is getting a bit bloated and can't walk up the stairs without take a few breaks to catch its breath. Now that I've been using ComicLife 3, I've not even been using bloat-strator for that. Photoslop has been replaced with Manga Studio 5 (aka Clip Studio Pro) and Sketchbook pro (love the fisheye perspective tool in Sketchbook). So I've been looking for a good replacement for Illustrator. finally settled on iDraw and Artboard after getting disgruntled over the sketchiness of the makers of Sketch. While I don't begrudge anybody making a bit of coin, there's a way to do it and a way not to do it. Bohemian gave me an excellent lesson on how not to do it. Not to go all Aesop Grapes on y'all, Sketch really isn't for creating "art" (as in illustrative/comic/cartoon art) and has an interface only programmers who think they can also be designers can love. Anyway, I was on the MacUpdate page and it listed all the newly updated apps and I saw that Sketch has a new update, thinking it was for some other app I clicked on that link and saw it was for that app that is *dead to me*. Because I had some time to waste, I read the comments which was pretty much the balance between outrage and apologists as usual. Then one comment mentioned that a new app could come in and kick some proper behind. That app was Affinity Designer. The poster didn't include an URL, so I searched and promptly had my morning consumed. Affinity Designer has the potential to be a great for me replacement for Illustrator. I'm still gonna have to keep Illustrator CS6 as at this point, nothing can kill it (not even FIRE can) but I'm sure it's universality will be crumbling in time. Look how Flash is withering on the vine at this time. And Flash was the reason for Adobe buying Macromedia and promptly killing Freehand. At least Freehand is in good company: Pagemaker and GoLive needed some companions. :( So I've freed up the resources to purchase AD tomorrow. Glad to have found out about Affinity Designer and look forward to using it a lot in the future.
