I don’t think we users can get those sample illustrations back.
They were licenced, from people who don’t work for Serif, to be available with earlier versions of the software and those licences may have expired.
The illustrations that come as samples with the 1.8 versions will probably soon be also replaced when 1.9 comes out commercially.

Hi,
 
For my fourth try in AD I wanted to illustrate at Omega Speedmaster watch. Think it worked out well :-). Still a few glitches here and there :-(
 
The hardest to figure out how to make was the wristband with the try to make it look woven. I did it with a costume made brush I made.
 
I am still amazed how well AD performs. Great to get under the skin of the software. I set my self these challenges (HTC Phone, Nexus phone, Bulb and this) so that I would be sure to really learn to use AD, not just fooling around.
 
Compared to how I usually does these illustrations Photoshop (Vector Layers), then AD is by far the easiest.

Thought I'd share a project that I have been working on. I have always been fascinated with Meso-American cultures and their art and after reading Jo-Jo's Bizarre Adventures I couldn't help but make my own version. Oddly Matt Groening's work reminds me a lot of Aztec art but maybe that's just me. I made it using Affinity Designer and all vectors. Thanks for taking the time to view my work and I hope that you enjoy it. 

Sketched in Procreate and finished in Designer on iPad (I’d use Photo, but the touch gesture paste isn’t working...). Looking at uploading a process video soon

@ Gear maker: Simply create a gradient swatch on the Swatches Panel and apply the swatch to the target you like ... works in both directions (fill > stroke, stroke > fill) ... and of course you can apply the same swatch to fill and stroke ... 
 
@ alexbet: To copy attributes from one object to another simply Copy the source object (Cmd-C) and choose Edit > Paste Style (Shift-Cmd-V) while the target object is selected ... or create a custom style by right clicking the object and choosing Create Style from the context menu (perfect for multiple uses) ...

Although not a palette or anything, I found two websites that may be helpful as you generate gradients for your projects:

(each gradient has the hex codes for the two colors)

(click, "Show All Gradients" in the upper left to see a ton of gradients. Then click on any gradient to see a full screen gradient and get the Hex codes for the gradient)

I have seen this topic come up pretty often and thought maybe I should post this resource here.
I know some people need to have native vector arrow shapes in their work so I created a brush for that you can use until arrows are implemented fully in the the application.
 
Just import them into your brush pallet.

I feel a cup theme coming on.
All done in Affinity Designer's Draw Persona, lot's of blur fx and transparencies. Ideally, I would have used a' blend tool' or 'blend along path' to created the equaliy spaced and repeating patterns, but AD doesn't have it. Soooo, I had to eyeball everything, and I now have a headache. :-)

I love Affinty apps and I have created a version of the Affinty Suite icons using Affinity Designer.
