Many thanks for the updates. Less to do for Santa, more for the easter bunnies.

If they had the file(s) since 16 days that means more than one month! What went wrong? Printed in China or where?

Did not critique, just telling facts. But if you only Interpret in one way: If somebody is saying that he designs stunning stuff and he shows something else, his needs for linked text in Affinity Designer get implausible.
It wasn’t said that you have to use other apps. But only the market pressure (this is what was meant) could change the decision of Serif not to add features like linked text "directly” into Affinity Designer.    This (topic) is about the Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.5.5 - Beta 1) and it does not really make sense to discuss those Affinity Publisher features here (more for bugs and thanks) because you already knew that they will need time (until 2017 / 2018 [Affinity Publisher]).

They are there because you may want to resize the image and in that case the Resample algorithm does matter.
When you are simply exporting an image without resizing the resampling method is irrelevant (assuming you are not working with a composition where layers where scaled down). This doesn't depend on the image. If you are not resizing the images there's no differences in the results no matter the resample method you pick

The pre-optimisations you are suggesting are not important because for a fair comparison you have to perform them to the same image on both programs which leads to similar image data before exporting. With the same image data Photoshop will eventually get a superior result again due to a better export/compression engine.

The results posted by canetti2 show that for an approximate file size of 100Kb the visual quality of the image exported by Photoshop is still superior to the one exported by Affinity no matter the mismatch between the scales (except for Save for Web where both go up to 100) assuming both are using the same settings.

Thanks for the files. I will add them to our log.

This is what you think but Dave Harris already answered what Serif will do and will not do. No idea why you asked for APu features in AD here again. There are other design apps that also have features that Affinity Publisher will have.

BTW: No designer would do what you have done with texts. One example that really hurts:

    Olá Jeremias Andrade,
    Bem vindo aos Forums Affinity.
Sim, ambos os programas podem ser configurados para usarem Português do Brasil.
Vá ao menu Affinity Photo/Designer ▸ Preferências (ou Editar ▸ Preferências se estiver a usar a versão para Windows) secção Geral e escolha o idioma na dropdown em baixo.

You don’t need do fix anything, because we don’t know the purpose of the pictures. If you change the image title (baby, not man), you don’t have to fix the proportions.

Well, a knife tool is on the Affinity Designer feature roadmap for a long time.  :(

The Break Curve Action or a second software are no optimal solutions.

The Vector Eraser still is only on the Common Feature Requests INDEX.  :(
BTW: MattP posted (14 November 2014):
It's fair to say that there will be a vector eraser in the future - all the code is already there except for just one tiny little bit that you wouldn't even think was that important - and it's that one little bit that changes the whole thing from being 'just another' implementation to a proper implementation - so until I can get that working (i.e. after I've delivered everything else I've promised, hehe) then it has to sit in my list - but at least it's there! :(  :(  :(

For example try a history slider with small previews and the possibility to zoom/pinch into the timeline (same for layers, everything showing with your loved fonts, etc.). Don’t forget the slide gesture that shows the future document!  ;)

A slider to change the UI colours ;) and pre-defined panel positions, a panel for colour mixing and creating/editing brushes, new buttons for semi-professionals like undo, redo, …

What about starting an idea competition?

I'd love to have the possibility to override default ones, and customise my bar for each tool.

If APu would have been launched in 2015 as announced, Affinity Designer would perhaps have been Affinity Illustrator without the frame text tool for looooong texts (filler text seems to be infinitely). But many people and even Serif are using AD for posters, flyers and more and run into typical typographical errors. The results are not professional (like examples of Neil).

First they told us here “We are going to focus on completing the full suite (including Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher) on the Mac over the next 12 months. After that we will look into other platforms.”
Then: “Affinity Photo and Designer for iPad […] They’re coming in 2017.” And now: “The earliest [release of Affinity Publisher] would be the end of 2017.”

People who purchased AD and/or AP because they want to support the development of APu and/or use them/it together with Apu in/before 2016 on the Mac are not happy that more than a single second is used for the development and presentation of iAffinity apps.

There are not many purchasers that are not satisfied (see the MAS). :) But for example as a «professional graphic design software” “Expand Stroke” should do much better like in apps that costs nothing. People spent much time to report such bugs and feature requests, creating snapshots and movies, helping others and get unsatisfied because they cannot use Affinity professionally because those bugs are not corrected after years. Probably most of the professionals still use PS&Co.

No, you don’t need new glasses. Just the transform panel. Have a look into Affinity Designer Help. AD has a very powerful field input.
