AffinityJules got a reaction from BrokenT in A Bit Of Humour
I would normally begin by cutting out all the components I need.
Select a background (in this case it was a photo I took while at Waterloo Station.
Then I would use the 'channels' in an attempt to colour/tone etc.. match (as best I can) all the elements.
After that I use anything that looks good; lots and lots of adjustment layers, brightness, HSL, contrast.
I don't know if that explains to any degree but that's how I go about it.

I wish that I was better at doing shadows! But it seems no matter what I do, I can never get it quite right.
One day. . .maybe?

I'm not that sure what all the updates mean in terms of application etc (still getting to grips with the program) but since I've been using AP it just keeps getting better and better. I'm glad I made the switch from PS to AP.
So. . .keep up the good work guys!

I like photo composites so this gets the thumbs up from me.

AffinityJules reacted to Bigby in (AP) Mysterious Forest
Here's a little composition I did yesterday, trying to familiarize myself with Affinity Photo. I didn't have any specific vision, so everything was thought up on the spot. It all started with this picture.
Then, using different elements of like 9-10 other images, came the final result
Regards,
Bigby

I'm a member of a Music Production/DJ group called Ultimate Rejects (UR). This piece was made using vectors and alot of stroke work with customized pressure graphs.
The hand to the left is making the letter 'U' symbol in sign language and the hand on the right is making the letter 'R'. The hands were difficult too draw by memory as I'm not a natural artist so i drew it on paper first and imported a snapshot into the project.
The image on the cap is our logo.
Paying for artwork for our albums and singles became costly so I purchased AD & AP in Oct. 2016 so I def consider myself one of the 'day ones' lol.

"I feel stupid asking, but where's the smooth selection tool?"
The 'smooth" tool/option can be found in the "select" window (top of the screen). Click on that, then select "smooth."

she cast the spell
then held the lantern aloft.
I began meddling with this image just before I bought Affinity Photo, and with the new purchase in hand I decided to finish it in AP. You will see similar images cast all over the net and this is my shot at that fantasy genre. Not sure how it stacks up against the lofty giants out there doing great stuff, but at least I enjoyed my time when I was doing it.

Like anything new one has simply got to get on with familiarising oneself with the perceived 'newness' and do exactly that - get familiar with it. I have been busy just playing around with the program and slowly but surely I am getting somewhere nearer to a greater understanding of how to use it. So far I have found nothing negative to say about it but can only give praise to a real alternative to Photoshop. I must say that so far I'm impressed with everything I have dabbled with and I'm sure that as I delve deeper into the workings of AP my initial assessment will remain the same.
However, I do have a question already!
I know this is NOT Photoshop and every single feature will not be replicated in AP but, is there any chance that in the future an update might include a tool similar to the PUPPET TOOL as found in Photoshop?
