Puck reacted to Chris B in CRASH | Export Any LUT | (1.9)
Hi, this was working in the beta before the newly updated retail version. I'm not sure what went wrong but I will log this with the developers.
Thanks for making me aware.

Puck reacted to SarahH in Justification broken with update
Updates are nice and all... but not when they break perfectly good (and necessary) features. 🙄
In Justification (under the Paragraph tab), the Minimum Word Spacing and Maximum Word Spacing values are now linked together. I can only change the Minimum one, and it changes the Maximum one automatically. Needless to say, this isn't going to work if I want a Minimum of 80% and a Maximum of 120%. (Also, if I try to adjust the Desired Word Spacing value, it resets itself from 100% to whatever the Minimum value is.)
This worked fine before the update.
I can't use Publisher until this is fixed.

Styles really are the best way to go for multipage documents. I think on the whole styles are nicely done in Publisher, and once you get used to them, they are a pleasure to work with. (But I am not saying the bug you reported is not important: it is, and I am glad you did report it).
My first guess at what is happening: you have vertical justification turned on the text frame. In that case, if you reduce the tracking just enough that another line will fit, it will cram that line in, observing the tracking that you have set. If you bump up the tracking just enough so that the last line will not fit, the last line jumps to another frame, and the remaining lines are evenly spaced because of the vertical justification section, which would indeed mean the inter-line spacing would be larger. This effect would be compounded if you have keep options activated in flow section, such as widow and orphan control.

Hi,
If you click on the more buttons the app crashes
I hardly ever use batch operations, just needed to reduce the quality to quickly send some snaps by email. It doesn't matter if you have selected the files or not... just click one of those buttons and the app crashes

Thank you for your detailed reply, MEB. In the end, it is only a "cosmetic" correction 😊

When can we expect the pending auto-update to be available?

Puck reacted to carl123 in 'Paste Into' does not work at all
See the Help File...
The Paste Inside command allows you to paste one or more layers inside another layer
"Paste into Selection" is a Photoshop command which does not exist in Affinity apps.
To achieve what you want just make your selection, then use Edit > Paste then (with the selection still active) hit the Mask icon in the Layers panel

Excellent! I agree with you 100%. You've done a great job with your suggestions. Thanks a lot! 😀

Puck reacted to srg in Icon in a layer does not draw
Among the numerous problems I and others have previously reported with layers I want to mention another more, very annoying too. The layer does not redraw the icon at the left. At times is very very slow at times the icon never shows up.
Furthermore, I already mentioned before but repetita juvant...the "levels" layer is very slow to to draw the histogram. At times I have to turn the layer off and then on again and wait, and wait...
Also at times the content of the layer disappears for no reason, always in the first moments after the layer is made or a desperate (see various previous post on this) attempts to write a caption.

I agree. AF needs to have better brush management capabilities. It was something Photoshop users had to wait a very long time on. I hope AF doesn't let us wait as long as PS did with their costumers!
I suggest making it possible to create sub-categories within categories. A 'sort by ...' button in the hamburger menu would also be helpful (for example 'sort alphabetically'). Another thing that would make brushes more manageable is to let users choose how they want the brushes to appear in the brush panel (by stroke only, by name only, by brush tip only, ... or a combination of these things). Also having multiple brushes sit aside each other when resizing the brush panel would be helpful for those with a very large brush collection. Maybe instead of selecting the collections in a list, icons could be placed on the left of the brush panel, which could be scrolled through, and with dividers, making it quicker to switch back and forth between different categories. Or maybe only the categories favorited by the user could appear here. Beneath is a quick mockup of what I mean.

Puck got a reaction from LouisV in A suggestion to sort the brush categories
Hello, a suggestion that has been on my mind for a long time: it would be really nice if one could sort the brush categories in the brush palette afterwards. That one can sort the brushes within a category is good so far. Please go one step further and make it possible to sort the categories itself. Maybe this is already possible and I just haven't found it yet.
Cheers, Puck

Puck reacted to MEB in "change document size" dialog misinterprets fractions in non-English locale
Hi @BenjaminGrenjamin,
Welcome to Affinity Forums
Are you sure it's working with an English locale? It's failing for me too.
Thanks for reporting this. I've logged the issue to be looked at.

Puck reacted to BenjaminGrenjamin in "change document size" dialog misinterprets fractions in non-English locale
I hope this is intelligible because the English terms are different in the menus.
The "change canvas size" dialog has a bug which has something to do with the locale and the decimal point.
Example
I have a square image and a German locale I enter "change canvas size" and lock the aspect ratio I want the size to be 40.6 cm (16x16 inch print size) I enter "40,6" for the horizontal cm size (note the decimal comma) The vertical size box will now show "40" and throw the fraction away. Note how the aspect ratio is now different During input, the comma is also shown as a point, and then changed to a comma when I leave the input box Behaviour is the same whether I enter a comma or a point. So basically the "lock aspect ratio" button is not usable outside of an English locale.
This bug is not present in "change document size".
Only workaround seems to be to use millimetres or inch formats (or a manual calculator).

Yes, we are aware of it. The latest update (1.8.6) just added Big Sur and Apple M1 compatibility/optimizations. No other changes. Thanks.

Puck reacted to emfx in Discussion on Affinity Suite for macOS 1.8.6 release
Both Photo and Designer waste 1 additional GB on my ssd........ 6 GB for the 2 apps now !!!???
We really don't care about having the Apple Silicon binaries that our computers will NEVER use (or vice versa) so, please do your job correctly and optimize the app size, and just ship 2 versions (x86 OR arm).
PS: It is totally ridiculous that the apps even were 2GB. Please ask the devs to compile their code correctly and to remove redundancy in the app binaries !

Puck reacted to 78deluxe in Discussion on Affinity Suite for macOS 1.8.6 release
Related to this update...it seems Affinity has both put out Optimized for the new chip and compatiblity of the latest Apple OS....are these things not expected for many months from now in the Adobe "alternative" lineup?
Affinity reported some 2 million users a while ago or something like that. Seems it is time for us Affinity users to utalize the "network effect advantages" we have.
I'm not a MAC user, but the fact Affinity just made this announcement and what I'm hearing from the dark side that the competitiaon is many months out from optimizaiton and full support, suggests Affinity is playing in that professional network space. The number of users with the M1 chip today??? Pretty much beta testers, so they are well ahead of the curve.

Serif won't comment on suggestions here; they will be read though.
It is not possible. Several customer voiced their ideas here too. Me as well. All programs need a much, much better brush organization and management.
Before my enthusiasm, patience and hope was killed off I purchased quite a few brushes from various sources; they are melted together in an unholy mess and it is a pain to find and select brushes.

Correct me if I'm wrong: For someone with a Mac with Intel CPU and Mac OS Mojave this update doesn't make sense, right?
