  1. Where are you seeing these? There's a slice Tool in the Export Persona, but none in the Draw Persona...
  2. Hi peejay. Welcome to Affinity Forums. There was a feather FX effect in one of the previous betas, but it was removed because it wasn't working well enough for us. It should be back later, as soon as we finish improving it.
  3. Just finished reading it today. Nice work Mike, very detailed and entertaining :)
  4. Hi viewsion, Welcome to Affinity Forums. It's not possible to export slices as vectors (SVG) yet but this is being worked on and should be available later.
  5. No, currently it's not possible to create guidelines from shapes.
  6. Hi jadoob, Welcome to Affinity Forums. Ideally yes, you should close your shapes. Although you can check Use FIll in the context bar for the Pen Tool, you will have a hard time later if you need to clip objects inside others or perform boolean operations, since those actions require closed shapes.
  7. Oh! exporting the cats! the contest! Of course it must be vector... My bad. Thanks Dave :)
  8. Hi JohnM, Welcome to Affinity Forums. You may also check Discover Affinity Designer & Affinity Designer Feature Overview to get an overall overview of the application. Here's a link to the full list of video tutorials available on Vimeo.
  9. Hi JuhaT, Welcome to Affinity Forums. Press space+cmd to zoom in and space + alt to zoom out. It works with any tool. As soon as you let go the shortcut, you're back to the original tool you were working with.
  10. Hi Sunset, Have you tried to create a slice just for one cat and export that slice only? Here's a video that may help you. Another way would be to put one of the cats in one layer and create a slice from it. Here's a video for this second method. Hope this helps.
  11. luigi de poggi, Perspective and distortion tools weren't implemented in Affinity Designer yet, but they are on our roadmap.
  12. Select Move Tool, click on Document Setup on the context toolbar (on top) and in the Color section, check Transparent background.
  13. I guess it's hard to please everyone here. But customisable shortcut keys are coming. Please bear with us.
  14. Love it too. Agree with Mike, seems a mix of modern with a retro twist somehow.
  15. There's no implications other than the lines appearing on screen at some zoom levels. Your file will export fine, without any lines.
  16. I think it's too soon for a feature like 3d extrude. Not only it implies considerable work, there's still a lot of features with higher priority to be implemented. Check out the feature roadmap for information about what's coming in the next months.
  17. Hi RPJ, this is not a bug neither a display issue. It has to do with Affinity Designer trying to antialias the edges of the cut area against the white background at different zoom levels other than 100% (or multiples). Since this is a rectangle with pixel perfect boundaries it should't show those artifacts on screen if you put your zoom at 100%.
  18. Hi purkypumpkin Welcome to Affinity Forums. I think MattP (one of the developers) is considering this. I know it was requested and discussed a couple times before but can't give you more details at this time. Just give him some time, I'm sure he will step in and give you more details.
  19. There's a reasoning for this behaviour: everything that implies a defined ratio, will scale proportionately without the need to press anything (like images and text) - we usually don't want to distort these. All that not implies a defined ratio (ex: shapes) will need the modifier key Shift pressed to keep their proportions.
  20. Yes, distortion tools (and a lot more) are on Affinity Designer's roadmap.
  21. You can set up a slice to export just the part you want. Check the Export Slices video tutorial on Vimeo.
  22. Hi andiS, Welcome to Affinity Forums. Select both paths, make sure the smaller is above the other and then go to the second row of icons counting from right on the top toolbar and press the second icon counting from left (Subtract).
  23. Hi snolanuk, Welcome to Affinity Forums. As you already said Affinity Designer is a vector application. It does have some tools for global adjustments (Shadow/Highlight, Levels, Exposure etc) but doesn't provide tools for local editing (clone tools, patch tool etc). Those are features for Affinity Photo. Both Affinity Photo and Publisher are not available to buy. They weren't released yet. Affinity Photo will be available as a beta before the end of the year, and Publisher is expected for next year.
  24. That's to be expected. It is the result of antialiasing two separate entities/objects where the edges overlap (in this case the fill and the stroke). You can overcome this by pixel aligning your objects wherever possible, overlapping the shapes a little to cover the background, or adding a shape of a similar color below them. Related thread.
  25. Agree with Jobalou, nice subtle texture on the planet and the lightning/color palette does give a relaxed/calm mood to the image. Nice work ^_^
