  1. I know Affinity Photo can use Ps plugins, but I can't find anything in Help or online about how to do it. Can someone please direct me to a solution or tutorial? Thanks!
  2. Thanks! I forgot I had to use the gradient tool to do this. Other apps accomplish this effect in different ways. Some use boolean ops, some use 'paste into,' some use fill. As usual, Affinity's way is the best, letting you precisely adjust the image placement within the group. Is there a distort tool or perspective tool on the horizon? Affinity Designer is totally indispensable now! Thanks again.
  3. Affinity Designer no longer seems able to insert an image into a group, such as a word of display text that has been converted to curves. I've done this several times before in the Beta, but now Affinty seems only able to insert an image into a single object, not a group. I've tried everything, including the 'insert into selection' tool, the 'fill' controls, the 'paste into' & 'place' functions, etc. Any ideas as to what's wrong or what I'm not doing right? Inserting an image into a group is a basic function of any graphics app. (The attached image was done in NeoOffice Draw.)
  4. So I figured out how to open the gradient context toolbar. But I can't seem to apply a gradient to a selection in the pixel mode. I know this has to be dead simple & I'm sure I'm just missing something, but can't figure it out. Thanks for any help!
  5. The gradient tool works OK, but I can't seem to get the gradient "context toolbar" to appear. The Help menu shows a gradient "context toolbar" in the tool palette next to the Swatches tool palette. But it dosen't seem to be there, and there is no mention of it in the Studio menu either. What am I missing?
  6. Thanks for Expand Stroke! That's a really critical feature. Only… I haven't figured out how to use it. Probably something so simple I missed it…
  7. Filling any shape with an image is dead simple as described. It also works for groups, as in display text...
  8. As a FreeHand jockey whose 32-bit MacBook Pro finally went to its reward, AD is exactly what I've been looking for. So far, the beta performs beautifully. Very few problems. Amazingly stable for a beta… Huge kudos to AD developers for this wonderful program! When it's released, I'll be the first in line. The FreeHand tools (or facsimiles) I'm hoping for include: Add points & simplify points Envelope warping (or some kind of object-distortion tool) 3D rotation (perspective tool) Fisheye lens Roughen effect Expand Stroke, Stroke to path & Inset path Text flow around objects, along paths & flow between text boxes Multiple pages, with a scratch area for layout design work A lot to expect, I know. But when Affinity Designer can do these things, then it really is adios, Illustrator... I've heard that AD developers may be working on opening Freehand files. If so, then I DO believe in Santa Claus! Also, IMHO, pro-level CYMK prepress isn't a big priority since the vast majority of users (even Illustrator users) don't do 4-color publishing. Thanks again for filling a big hole in the Mac vector sphere...
