Version 1.6.0.86 Beta seems to be stable. You have to improve one thing. Pull out the guides independently of the selected tool icon. Now if for example I draw a rectangle and I want to draw a vertical guide I have to mark the arrow icon, draw the guides back to the rectangle icon, draw a rectangle. etc. Would not it be easier if the pulling of the guides was always possible regardless of the current tool? So it's been organized in CorelDraw . If we move the cursor on the rulers, the cursor should always switch to the arrow and then the guides could be drawn. It will really speed things up.

We desperately need some clarification. For the past two years it was mentioned several times here in these forums that you are working on a DAM. However, we haven’t really seen an update on that topic in the past weeks and months. And in your Twitter feed you mentioned a couple of times now that you are currently not developing a DAM. So which is true?
 
With the recent changes from Adobe with their Lightroom software and with Apple still not improving Photos really, it would be a great time to put a great DAM out there right now. Many, many photographers are looking for a new solution to this old and essential problem. Also, MacPhun just announced a DAM for their Luminar app. 
 
In any case, we just need to know if we should wait for a DAM to be released by you guys or if we should look for other alternatives. Thank you!

Adobe just announced that they are forcing all Lightroom standalone licenses to go subscription. I've been reading about a lot of disgruntled customers that are going to be leaving Adobe for another product. I have read the writing on the wall for a while now and that is why I have migrated over to Affinity Photo, I believe you have a Home run Product here and could capitalize on this turn of events by incorporating some kind of cataloging or indexing feature into Affinity Photo that would put the final nail in Adobe's coffin!

This would mark the perfect Day for Affinity DAM public Beta!!

RAW file loading speed and other RAW improvements will be available in the forthcoming 1.6 point release and are checkable now in the current customer beta #85 and above.

Within v1.5, opening a RAW image does not not assign the active present.
Boring because I made profiles for my Nikon matching the original camera settings.
However, when a new raw is loaded, I always have to select another one first and click back on my profile again before it applies those settings.
Same is still valid for the Beta versions.
I would suggest, or jump back to default when opening a new image or apply the last active preset.
The current situation is incorrect: Showing the present as if applied, but it applied the default.

+ Shadows & Highlights works very incorrectly. It is almost impossible to use it. One of the raw development modules that requires substantial refinement.

Dear Affinity-Team,
Regarding the Shadows & Highlights function in the Raw Persona; please solve the "shadows-problem".
Currently it is simlpy useless! Using the Shadows slider, the shadows in a image will be simply clinched together (have a look on the histogram) which causes a horrible black and grey sludge.
Please check this out and change the algorithm for that. It's possible to make a workaround by using Exposure, Blackpoint, Brightness, Contrast and Clarity, so it shouldn't be a big deal for you smart guys
I know there are also other threads for that issue, but in your own interests, this weakness is one of the most discussed problems of the AP raw converter in many other forums (the other big issue is the load time of the raws, which improves version by version :)).

In Paintshop Pro, I (1) use the marquee tool to select the area of an image I want to copy.  (2) Ctrl-C to copy an area, then (3) Ctrl-E to create a floating selection, which will move with my mouse to wherever I want to place it.  (4) Click to place it.
 
This is very quick and easy, and I'd love to see it in Affinity Photo.
 
(In Affinity, you need to (1) convert the Image layer to a Raster layer.  (2) Use the marquee tool to select the area of the image you want to copy.  (3) Hit Ctrl-C.   (4) Hit Ctrl-V to place a static copy of the selected pixels over the original.   (5) Change to the Move tool.  (6) Click and drag andcopy of the selection to the place you want it.   (7) Merge down the new layer that was created along the way.)

Anyway, just a suggestion from a new user trialing Affinity Photo.
