Maybe a way to solve this would be to have the option to hold down say three fingers one the screen, which would mean that when you touch the surface with the pencil it would only show a preview (as hoover is not something support on the iPad).

So anywhere press down for example three fingers and while you hold them the pencil will just show a preview brush size where it touches. Then release to paint work as normal.

Another one would be to have a preview button on some corner toolbar that would allow to be pressed to enable this in the same way as the three finger gesture (being able to configure this would be the best!)

Our apps don't have an auto trace feature, it's something our developers want to add to Affinity Designer at some point in the future as it's one of our mostly requested features.

For some features merging down a layer is super slow, and because it is unpredictable what is happening I will sometimes not know if it detected my merge down layer request and I will do a second one.
One is most often able to pan and interact while it is merging in the background (without any sort of info about this happening).

I like that the UI allows you to do this, but I really would want to see some sort of progress bar clearly visible.

Also having merge be faster would be nice.
Mergin a 42 pixel frequency separated layers takes forever...   (I'm running on the latest 10.5" iPad pro)

 

I notice that I often have a tool, say inpaint tool selected and want to zoom or translate and when I go to pinch zoom/move I by accident very often draw a long line, which I then have to wait for it to finish before I can undo.

I never use the fingers to edit the image, I only use them to select in the menus,  but most often I use the the pencil for that too.

I think adding a toggle button, say in one corner of the display, that allows for panning with one finger touch + two finger zoom/pan but disables drawing or retouching with the fingers on the image.
I'm not sure how easy it is to differentiate between the pencil touching the screen compared to the hands, but I feel it would speed up workflow immensely by not having to fear to edit the image by mistake by touching on it with your fingers when you mean to zoom or pan.

So to clarify the fingers should be detected on all menus, and if I touch the image then it should only act as a pan/zoom tool, so unless the pencil is being used on the image the selected tool would be ignored.

Ok, so the only thing I then miss is a button to quickly turn this on/off in the main interface. Say if you switch to liquify, then you might want to use your fingers... but heck... I'm happy with how it works now!

There is an autosave feature built in. You can change the interval by clicking on the cogwheel in the top right from the home screen of the app. Others have faced similar issues, but that usually happened if it crashed before pressing the home arrow within a project, which would have saved the project. That seems to have been fixed in the 1.6.2 update.

Hello, iv spend some time to get my workflow with this app and all the time im thinking undo/redo should be top middle also? Am i the only one? Right away when i started using this app i got that idea and it's still in my head all the time when im reaching undo which i do a lot and it doesn't feel effortless.
 
I also get the idea why it is where it is, but maybe my workflow is just different, for example If i use pen and doing something and want to go undo, most times it would be just lot easier and faster go top middle with pen or fingers instead going down right (less movement for the hand). Also most of time my fingers pointing up so it would be easy to undo/redo from there.
 
Also there's free space already at the top for that feature so.. is it hard to for example add feature which you can turn on or off, or what about even moving that thing where you want and taking it out of the grid etc?
 
This is one of the most used function If it's not most so it should be very effortless and fast to use and people could like it to be where it's most natural for them to reach fast and effortlessly.

That option is already implemented in the most recent version (1.6.3). Select Preferences > Tools > Touch for Gestures Only. This will disable any tool input with your fingers. Only the Apple Pencil will be an input source for tools now.  :)

Would be very useful to have the ability to select multiple photos to import from the Apple Photos App on iPad in order to effect a batch import. 
 
Works better for those with a workflow based around batch developing of RAW files or batch editing of .jpg files.
 
The ability to batch import directly from SD card via the apple sd card reader would be even more useful. 
 
With 1.63 there is the ability to pick multiple for Stacks, etc. but not for direct import.

Strange, here I thought that the .cube format was a standard file format....  
In the list I see about 17 different types of .cube formats... what is the matter, why can't people create one standard for such a simple thing..

I've downloaded the Color Finale trial and it's accepting 3D LUTS i've created with Affinity Photo. Which adjustment layers did you use?

I made some smilies some time ago (in PSE). The glossy look is achieved by adding shadows and highlights, -circles/gradients with various shades of yellow.
(I'm not happy with the mouth)

Yes, this is not only an issue with the Swedish keyboards but other languages as well: I have also read on some posts (don't remember exactly which ones) that a solution is being looked into. No doubt many will be glad when it arrives.
