I would also like to see a text wrapping feature in Affinity Designer!

I'm attempting to create a logo for some clothing tags and the feature is not available.

Definitely think that Text Wrapping needs to be in Designer, too.

It is vital for use with flyers and advertisements, which is a huge part of the work flow of most pro designers.

The option to display 100% full screen when pressing the TAB key.
Right now, the menu displays at the top.

Photoshop has this as one of its modes when pressing the F key.

jarcon reacted to Greg3746 in Designer: Export at different sizes
I think Designer is great. I often design icons though, where I would produce the same or similar image at a variety of resolutions.

It would be good on the Export persona if you could define a slice and also assign an output pixel dimension to it, e.g. 32x32, and then if the pixel preview would also reflect that would be great.

At the moment I realise that I could just duplicate the object in question and resize it to the required pixel dimension, but it would be better if I could have just the one item with different export profiles, duplicating it only for those resolutions that would benefit from some extra changes.

I would also love to have a photo manager from Affinity. Adobe bridge doesn't show thumbnails of affinity, and I don't think they will fix that soon.

Certainly a DAM is a good option, and I would like to have an hybrid like this:
The speed and work flow of photo mechanic (ingest, catalog, export and share really fast with color flags), and the keynote option. Bridge tools. Apple Photos (the timeline between years, months, days, events to preview really fast; and the face recognition), only that, the rest is awful in this app. The less time you take importing and converting for bulk development, making a catalog, exporting for different sizes and qualities options in bulk and even adding watermarks, etc, the more you will be enjoying taking photos and perhaps making money with it. I will be more than glad to but this solution from Affinity.

I won't get involved in what a DAM is, all I want is a replacement for Google Picasa.
    Good features of Picasa:
Face recognition Stores face recognition data in XMP in the jpg file (So can be read by DS photo for example - see below) Enables placing of a location. Not so good features
No longer supported Requires a separate database, which has therefore to be backed up and causes problems when moving files to a new computer Not for use on a network. Cannot amend person details (possibly because of the link to uploaded Google photos) I haven't used Lightroom but have DS Photo on my Synology network storage.
    Good features:
Picks up face data from XMP Free (with Synology drive!) Has location data Use on a network Mobile apps available Not so good
Must be used through a browser for all features (I think) Not as many features as Picasa. I would therefore hope that the release for Affinity:
Stores all data (metadata) in the file (even if a separate database is used for indexing) Can be used on a network Picks up data (including face recognition) from XMP data Has face recognition facility Good search facility Opportunity to amend and add to metadata Can be easily moved to a new computer, without loss of data Good luck with the new program. Although I'm using free programs at the moment, I'd be happy to pay for a good organizer.

Incidentally, if you want to view metadata attached to a file, try Exif Pilot http://www.colorpilot.com/exif.html

Honestly I always wonder what people here in the forum call Digital Asset Management (DAM) and think it to be. - Nowadays a real DAM solution goes much bejond what people here are suggesting, it's not just for local tagging/classifying/importing/exporting/catalog/browsing/searching/finding/sorting/sharing of images and videos. A real DAM additionally handles and has to deal instead with pretty much all sort of digital media data, it needs/uses enormous flexible metadata, offers collaborative team and huge flexible inquiry features.

In short, it is something which is more meant to be used by big agencies, newspapers, companies and the like. It's not something the common single user or casual single photographer uses, thus it goes feature and usability wise much bejond of that what common single user image catalog, browsing software or some RAW converters (things as Lightroom, Aperture etc.) do offer!

However, I don't know if Affinity plans to develop what I call a DAM software, or instead something like a single user image and video cataloging software (?).

    @Travelling Man

I too wouldn't call Adobe Bridge to be a real DAM, instead the Adobe Experience Manager comes much closer to my personal understanding of a DAM system!

    Hi vpcllc100,
    Welcome to the forums.

Affinity Photo isn't a file manager or organiser, it's a RAW developer and photo editor. We have plans on developing and releasing our own version of a DAM application in the future. Which you will be able to use to organise and manage your image collections.

In the meantime you could use Apple Photos, I've used Darktable in the past, which is open source.

I´m currently again searching for an image viewer for Mac.
I still have Bridge which is fine but I will cancel Adobe CC subscription at the end of the year.

With LilleG I talked about PhaseOne MediaPro (thanks for the nice explanations!) which would probably do the job but is not really cheap, and it won´t get any data handling benefits with the other Affinity products as an Affinity viewer could....I could also buy Lightroom as well but that´s not really where I want to spend my money right...

I took a look at the following products:
    Lyn
    - it looks promising, but when I downloaded the test version, the preview has a lag of 1s for every picture (20mb jpg) which is just really annoying in my opinion (checked the same folder with bridge and it was fast as expected)
    Xee
    - even cheaper and even less functions but would have been totally ok with that at the moment
    - BUT preview is still not fast, it´s faster than Lyn but get´s a short spinning wheel every two pictures and that really interrupts going though the pictures
    Picasa
    - ...would be an option and I did a quick google search to check if my problem is valid:
    - fullscreen viewing is only possible in presentation mode, but you can´t delete pictures in presentation mode
    lOS X build in Viewer
    - in list view you can go through the pictures with the arrow keys and also delete them but it´s not fullscreen
    Affinity Photo Viewer
    - well, I don´t have any use for these thumbnail views at all, currently opening pictures from my folder structure (the preferred way would be - from a real Affinity viewer)

there has to be some appropriate software for these needs which does not have to be a huge DAM in the very first place...

So would´t it be possible to offer a proper image browser for mac? really .... "praying"   -_-

    EDIT:
    Apple Photos/ iPhoto
    - the last place where I would want to store more than 200 pictures, just way inflexible file system IMO

Snap to object edge (anywhere not just nodes or midpoints)
Snap to midpoint of individual line segments
Snap tangent to circle or arc

jarcon reacted to MarkA in Need to be able to EDIT/ADD EXIF data!
I'm a long time Photoshop user.  One of the default things I do before posting photos to the web is add a title, description, copyright info, and keywords to my files.  I really, really, really want to be able to do that in Affinity Photo!

I've tried using a standalone EXIF editor on my iMac, but only part of the data added is retained when output for the web (after editing in Affinity Photo -- i.e. all keywords/tags are missing).

Something is running on my mind! What if the iPad and the Mac work together? I don't know the iPad version, but I'm not sure if it will provide all the tools that the mac version offer, but what if they work together and/or independent?. I just imagine working on the field, taking photos, uploading it on my iPad and making some edition on the go, then i reach home, turn on my iMac and then I keep working, using my iPad as a capture tablet, instead using my mouse, but with all the power of the Mac version. It will be one of the few apps that will break the division between iOS and OS, communicating two devices for the same purpose, a better way to create, edit and share your designs and photos.

jarcon reacted to EmanueleSabetta in Add frame by frame Animations with automatic shapes interpolation
Animations are very important today. There is a growing demand for vector animations everywhere, from the web to mobile UI to videogames assets. Read this article on Medium for an overview on the subject:

    https://medium.com/@fmuaddib/the-following-are-the-possible-ways-to-create-professional-animations-in-svg-9d4caca5f4ec

Affinity Designer should add a simple frame by frame animation system, with onion skinning overlay editing and automated in-between generation with morphing, like the one that CACANi already offers.
It should also provide SVG SMIL export for the resulting animation, like the Animate CC plugin Flash2SVG.

    Thanks in advance.

I hope i'm not asking for something that already exist, but It will be great if in the export persona there will be a preview of the result, information about the size of the exported file and the chance to resize the exported image.

I usually export for web and the size of an image is really important to know, instead to export the file several times until you get something closer to what you need. Even this forum require that your avatar image have max 50k.

Affinity could go even further and ask you the max file size in order to give you the best result with that restriction; it can also present a preview of different formats or resolutions, so the export decision becomes visual and with information.

That you very much for this great software!

Actually that's really useful. I have been working with animations in photoshop to create some .gif and I will be really happy if I can use affinity products to do that.

It could come as a new persona, or something similar, and if this animations could be integrated with final cut, that will be excellent!

Thank's affinity team to create such great software!

jarcon reacted to maschinsky in Affinity PSD Files in FinalCutProX
When I import multi-layer .PSD files that have been created with Affinity Photo int Final Cut Pro X, they always get imported "merged" or "flat" unlike .PSD files from Photoshop that are imported as separate layers. I assume this is some kind of export bug, because all I have to do ist open the Affinity PSD in Photoshop (CS6) and save it again, then I have my layers.
Fixing this would mean a big deal for me because I want to replace photoshop with Affinity Photo and that's one of the biggies that keep me from doing that.

A much smarter thing would be getting Apple to support the Affinity format from inside FCPX or the OS, but that's not very realistic, I assume?

    Cheers
