Absolutely agreed. I rely on the Help >Search to quickly locate and execute commands instead of hunting around the main menu's hierarchical structure, like using macOS's built-in Spotlight Search to quickly execute open apps, do simple calculations on the built-in calculator, find contacts, etc. A quickly accessible CLI is invaluable.
Please return this vital functionality. Thanks for all you do!

I know there are some issues with the built-in help in (some?) OS versions so it has at least for now been removed & all help directed to a web-based version, so that may be why the Help menu no longer has a Search field but please consider that for Mac users in earlier versions that field can also be used to highlight & select menu items, so even if there is no built-in help it is still a very useful feature.
Should it not be clear what I mean, below is an example from AD V2.4.x showing all the menu items that include the search word "text"

So please consider adding this functionality back in the Mac versions, even if there is no way to link to the Help Topics.
EDIT: It took me a while to find the older discussion about this at https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/201635-online-help-to-resolve-search-in-macos-that-affects-macos/ but since the retail version of V2.4.2 still has the Search field I have to wonder why we can't have it in the 2.5 version as well....

Make your own digital mosaics and fauxsaics in Affinity Designer!

    >>GET THE PACK HERE<<

After a trip to Sicily, where I saw some stunning ancient Roman mosaics, it occurred to me that there was no tool which allowed Affinity Designer users to draw their own mosaic designs. So, I set about making this complete mosaic tile tool kit – it contains everything you need to create your own realistic looking fauxsaics.
In this pack I’ve captured the irregular, chipped edges of the original Roman source material (c. 4th century AD) allowing you to create stunning designs and illustrations with a sense of antiquity. However, the pack isn’t just for adding a vintage look – as you’ll see from the screen-shots you can use the Affinity Designer brushes, patterns and textures to bring a unique twist to contemporary designs too.
To test the pack I studied real mosaics and put the Affinity brushes through their paces by re-creating a real Roman design – the bear image screen-shot.

    >>GET THE PACK HERE<<

The pack contains all of these fantastic components:
The Brushes A variety of mosaic tile Affinity Designer vector brushes, all sourced from genuine 1600+ year old material. A grout brush is also included – perfect for adding a rough, undulating edges to vector shapes.
The Pattern Styles 6 authentic mosaic repeat patterns – perfect for backgrounds or for flooding areas with tiles quickly. Supplied as One-click Affinity Designer styles.
The Border Brushes Add authentic looking borders to your mosaics. 6 Different designs supplied, each made using multiple vector brushes – simply layer them up.
The Seamless Overlay Textures 2 Stone textures and 2 grunge overlay textures – use these to flood areas quickly and add age and authenticity to your designs. The featured Affinity Designer textures are seamless, so you can fill any sized area. Supplied as One-click Affinity styles.
A quick reference PDF guide This will help you quickly find the right brushes and styles for the task in hand and get the most out of this brush, pattern and texture pack.
Example file The Skull image has been supplied for you to backwards engineer. Supplied as an Affinity Designer file.
Instructions A very thorough guide on how to load, apply and then adjust this brush, style and texture tool kit is included.

markw reacted to Art51 in Alita Battle Angel poster - Hand-drawn raster art
Just wanted to share a recent alternative movie poster I created for the film, Alita Battle Angel.
The poster is completely hand-drawn in Affinity Photo 2. As I've noted before, I enjoy the hand-drawn and coloured posters by the likes of Drew Struzan and contemporary artists like Paul Shipper and Kyle Lambert.
This work was completed primarily using the Natural Pencil 2B brush (the underlying sketch) and the Round Soft Brush (colouring over and clouds) with more Natural Pencil 2B coloured pencil over the top for the highlights and detail. There is some use of texture brushes such as spatters and custom dust etc. There are no fancy filters or tricks used. I treat the canvas and drawing as though I were working with real physical media and so start with a scanned 'paper' background. I use an XP Pen pen display connected to my MacBook Pro as my workstation.

Having links to online help = Good
Having no offline help at all = Bad
    Having both = Good
I get that there are benefits to having an up to date online guide on every feature, especially when it gives additional context to how they can be used. That said, I agree with fde101 that it's a bad idea to scrap offline Help. Even I as a long time user of Affinity sometimes open up the current Help guides to find simple descriptions of specific features I haven't used in a while, since they aren't always easy to find on the interface. The Help section doesn't need to be full of videos and highly descriptive tutorials for it to be useful. Just as a simple lexicon can be useful, offline Help should remain for such a purpose.

In addition to these excellent points, I would also point out that if anyone is working in an area with poor or no internet connectivity, there is no reason to rob them of access to online help simply to add rich video content that is probably not as important as having a quick reference to some less familiar feature they are trying to use.
Some users may also work in an environment where they need to be disconnected from the internet for security reasons and losing access to online help would similarly mean losing access to any kind of help.
I agree that a change to online-only help is a TERRIBLE idea.  PLEASE reconsider.

    To use Photos Batch Job processor to do the converting;
Go to File > New Batch Job.
In the window that opens, on the Left Hand side add all the TIFF files you want to convert.
In the top section of the Right Hand side under ‘Output’ you can either Save to the same location as the originals or choose another location by selecting; Save into… and choosing a location by clicking the ellipsis icon to the right.
Next, deselect the default option of ‘Save as AFPhoto’ and select the “Save as” file option of your choice from those offered. Click on the ellipsis icon at the far right of your chosen file type to open a popup where you can set any other user definable output options like for example; the amount of file compression to be used, etc…
If you do not want to change the resulting files dimensions then leave the W & H fields empty.
If you want to run a Macro that you have in AP’s Macro library select and Apply it now.
If you don’t want to run any Macros then just ignore that section.
Now click the OK button bottom right corner of the window to start the process.

If you are the only person working with the production document and have full control of where the images to be used are stored on your system, then click ‘Yes’. It can greatly reduce the size of your working file and potentially making it more responsive to work with.
If you should later move the storage location of any of the images being used they can be re-linked but really is best not to move them during production if you can avoid it.

There’s no need to ‘faff around’ with brushes and/or macros to get a simple re-usable watermark.
You can create one quickly with a Rectangle, some Artistic Text, Photo’s Pattern Layer functionality and Assets.
See attached video for a quick run-through.
Note: I feel sure that this isn’t the first time this technique has been posted but no-one else in this thread has posted any links to the tutorials they mentioned/used, or given a run-down of what they did, which makes it difficult for anyone reading this thread to know what the possibilities are.

While i fully understand the (probably) good intentions, i have seen to many apps from other vendors going to total disarray because older versions lost attention and help get totally out of sync. It really helps nobody if online help works reliably only for the bleeding edge release of the app, and provides misleading or completely wrong results for slightly non-current releases.
The help documentation is an dedicate deliverable accompanying the app releases. It s no „optional“ or „if we find time“ low priority thing. As Affinity updates UI and features in every minor update, we need a perfect fitting documentation for every minor release. The offline help can include links to additional online-only resources like videos. This is never a reason to go fully only only.

markw got a reaction from Alfred in Can pre-V2 of Affinity suite be uninstalled?
In addition to Garry's comments I would recommend waiting till after first launching the v2 editions before removing the v1’s, as v2 will ask if you want to migrate stuff over to them that you may have added to the v1’s.
When deleting the v1’s I would also recommend using an app like, at least on Macs, AppCleaner, as it will not only delete the apps themselves but also look through your hard drive for the v1 support folders which, depending on what you may have added to the apps over time, can measure into the Gigabytes of storage space used.
AppCleaner will present you with a list of what it has found which you can verify/edit before it removes what it’s found.

You could use an Ellipse with a radial Fill or use concentric ring made with the Donut Tool and some Layer Effects.
The attached was just quickly done but gives you some ideas hopefully.

In addition to the advice above, if you draw the gradient fill in greyscale you can use a Gradient Map Adjustment to create the colours.
That way it’s easier to adjust the colours without adjusting the gradient.
See attached video where I have used the adjustment to convert white to yellow and black to red, with different opacities on the gradient stops to get the ‘ripples’.
