skmwrp got a reaction from Chul in How to find out which brush I used?
This thread is old, but in case anyone still using AD v1 wants to duplicate a lost brush, I found that is it paint with a different brush, and then copy a line previously drawn and paste its style on the new line (Edit | Paste Style), it changes to the lost brush.
    Saved my behind, discovering this.

    Hey everyone!
Congratulations on the release of V2!
    - Quite pleased to see V2.
    - Quite pleased to see no subscription.
    - Not so pleased to see no High Sierra support (but understandable to some point).
    - Not so pleased to see no V1 file compatibility (not understandable).
Please include a simple 1.X importer and exporter. You already have that for 1.X. You should (?) be able to integrate it with V2 in a quite straight forward way, unless you went crazy on the most basic systems you have.
I know I can import and export to .psd, but that will leave behind everything that's Affinity. I'd like to only leave everything behind that's Affinity V2 in the process when transferring between V2 and V1.
On some hardware, I still require High Sierra for some stuff. I could update my iPad versions (and get Publisher that doesn't exist as version 1), but without being able to port the files between V1 and V2, that's going to be a headache.
Please be aware that by not including this, you're going to split up your user base. To which degree, of course, I don't know. But it will happen. Some people
    - will still require to or want to work with older OSs you don't support,
    - won't be able to or won't want to invest the money to upgrade the entire suite, especially with the prices increased and the 40% off period being over,
    - won't want to even upgrade one software when this means breaking links between, for example, V2 Photo and V1 Designer as well as V2 Photo and V1 Publisher,
    - are completely satisfied with V1 already and don't see a point in updating to V2,
    - don't like or have trouble using the new UI,
    - just decide updating isn't worth it (yet), because the new features aren't (yet) worth the cost for updating,
    - face bugs in V2 that weren't there in V1.
    User base fragmentation means
    - fewer bug reports, resulting in less reliable software,
    - a number of people having issues with your software, because they need to exchange files with someone from the other group (V1 VS V2) making your software, at best, bothersome to use or, depending on the situation, completely unusable or just not efficient enough to accomplish the required results,
    - people being frustrated, because of going V2 with a trial or buying one of the softwares, saving a bunch of files, and not being able to go back (that's huge!),
    - some users will trust your software less, since a new version created such a messy situation.
I think a simple Exporter and Importer for V1 files could very well be worth the effort.
Now personally, I am going to buy the entire V2 suite anyway, because V1 did serve me quite well (started using Designer before 1.0, it's almost been a decade now) and for a reasonable price as well and I will probably have to update eventually, in a few years. But still. Would be great to go back and forth between V2 on iPad and V1 on desktop.
I searched for "v1" and the search stated there were 0 results.
    Best wishes,
    Shu

I am getting similar results if neither of the two curves have a fill color & if they are not both closed curves. If either one or both are filled with any color or if both are closed, it works as expected (like in V1).
This should be reported as a bug I think....

You could possibly get an acceptable result if you use Power Duplicate. But you would need to create a very subtle transformation in the first step, not to get a too ugly aliasing, and you will get a huge stack of layers. And you will have to do it to each of the characters separately if you want the shadows exude to all sides.

You have to recherche via "What Font Is", "What the font"  etc.
    https://www.myfonts.com/pages/whatthefont

Applying longer shadows and the like to text can also be done easily in LibreDraw. - Additionally it also hat a Fontwork option for more artistic things!

    That is CorelVector.
I thought the Radio Antenna animation was in the opening.
Glyphs are easy to to draw - but this is pretty close if not based on this: https://www.fontspring.com/fonts/ae-type-inc/reload

Seems from the early 30ties and is most likely hand-drawn on glas plates.
And no 1-click-bliss available in Affinity Suite here. And because we have no adjustable "Long shadow"-effect it´ll become tedious but very robust in the end by doing it in vector:

Nope, also don't know that old edged font there. - Though that label "Radio Pictures Presents" can be found often on images of old movies when performing a Google search.
Another way would be to vectorize that stuff ...

There have been some threads and tutorials about that theme in the past! - Overall it's always some work to do so, either by using two text chars and then combining them by lines so the behind/beneith 3d like area can be filled black, or by using a bunch of stacked/displaced/combined duplicate (Ctrl-/Cmd-J) repeats of chars. - Or via ADe isometric design grids.
    See overall:
3d text shadow site:forum.affinity.serif.com ADe editable 3D text (Youtube) ADe 3D vector text (Youtube) Websearch theme images ... etc.
... and so on, do also a forum search!

This does not answer the question well. The ABR (Adobe Photoshop Brush) format does not seem to be recognized by Affinity.
I found a tutorial in French.
Drawing the contour of the tape. Filling: white, 25% opacity. Outline: normal melting, opacity 35%, radius 1 px, inner alignment, white. Internal glow: normal fusion, opacity 19%, radius 215 px, black, noise 46%. Outer shadow: Normal blend, 40% opacity, noise, 46%, 1 px radius, black. Please note that as of February 12, 2021, noise is not supported and cannot be precisely adjusted.

It’s frustrating to say the least that we’ve had no response in over three years as to whether this (seemingly simple) feature will be implemented.
It’s a standard interaction that really should be there. The iPad is crying out for a quality design software, but having to deal with a lack of a delete keyboard shortcut is a major distraction to a designer’s workflow.
Vectornator is a free tool, and when you select an object and hit backspace, it deletes it.
Affinity Designer is a great piece of software and one of the few genuinely Pro level apps for iPad. There’s been some great updates, but don’t forget the little details that will make a big difference.

Look for the hamburger icon  in the layers panel (or you can do it in Preferences > User Interface)

skmwrp reacted to v_kyr in Is There a Way to Run Two Copies of AD at Same Time
The QuickLook (QL) window resizes since when the image changes on HD it has to update and reload the image and so falls back to defaults. With Cmd-Space QL will open an image full screen, but then you can't see APhoto at the same time.
In order to change the default QL window size for an Affinity file preview plugin one would have to alter/change the "info.plist" package contents in it's corresponding "xxxx.qlgenerator" package. And there then ...
change the "QLPreviewHeight" parameter value and also change the "QLPreviewWidth" parameter value IMPORTANT NOTE:  As always, back up the original "info.plist" file first and realize you are editing a file Apple/Serif didn't intend for the end user to edit.
There are also some third party tools like "Optimal Layout" etc. which do allow to alter the on screen windows and their handling. - Other than that, try out some other third party previewer like XNViewMP and see if that updates/reloads it's file preview instantly when an Affinity file changes from another source on disk.

skmwrp reacted to thomaso in Separate Tab to Put on a Different Display
In Non-Separated Mode you could drag the Navigator panel to become floating + increase its size to fill one of your two screens.
Actually for your goal Separated Mode was developed, note that you may arrange all windows and panels as wanted + additionally save your custom arrangements as presets for easier toggling between various viewing & screen settings. So it is easy to setup with the document layout window on one screen and all panels on the other. Or, as with non-separated mode, arrange all windows & panels one one screen + just the navigator panel on the other monitor.
Also, if in Separated Mode, you can open a 2nd view of your document with its own zoom level. (menu View > Views)

No way I know of to do that, other than the probably not acceptable work around of using the stability options so you get a circle + a dragged line instead of the pencil icon.

skmwrp reacted to R C-R in How to quickly select/switch brushes?
I have a 27" screen so the minimum width is by itself not a problem for me. But to keep it out of the way when I don't need to access it, I have dragged it out as floating panel & assigned a keyboard shortcut to show & hide it. (I use Shift-B because it is easy to remember & doesn't conflict with anything else.)
I have also thought about creating a lot of different brush categories, each one with the brushes I tend to use together on certain kinds of projects, but I am lazy & have not yet actually tried doing that.

skmwrp got a reaction from SzilardUK in Enable physical keyboard “delete” key to delete selected objects
Still missing that would be greatly  helped by keyboard shortcuts:
Delete Undo Redo Deselect (broken) Close Window Hide/Unhide UI Resize Brush Larger Resize Brush Smaller Hitting those little targets from one corner of the display to the other is a PITA.
Also, while we're at it, when I hide the UI, then open a panel to change a brush, then close the panel, the UI remains, meaning I have to hit that tiny little target in the top right corner, which does weird things half the time, like opening a panel. This is the reason for a Hide/Unhide UI keyboard shortcut. (Though really the UI should hide itself if it was hidden when I opened and then closed the panel.)

Seeing as though this simple request has been going for almost 3 years and no explanation has been offered, I would never recommend affinity software on I Pad. Impossible to substitute the PC as it is. Quite a shame for otherwise a great app....

skmwrp reacted to EasyAffinity in To record a batch job and save it
I want to create a batch job as a macro, means I can restart it anytime without creating the batch job each time. Example. I put some photos in a folder A. Two macros I have created apply the action AutoColor and then AutoContrast. Then, the photos are saved to the folder B. I know how to do this with a batch job, but I don´t want to create each time a new batch job, because I have to repeat this sequence of actions or macros each day. How can I do it? I mean I just want to select somewhere a batch job named "AutoColor and AutoContrast" and then the macros are executed as described. That's something I used to do in Photoshop before.

skmwrp got a reaction from Krustysimplex in Is Affinity Designer even developed anymore?
Personally, as a professional, I wish they would fix the more fundamental issues of concerning productivity, like finally making the Deselect keyboard short work on the iPad as well as actually having shortcuts for Delete, Hide/Show UI, Undo/Redo. Stopping to fix an errant changes in a line because you didn't know it was selected, or hitting those tiny little targets, just brings the creative workflow to a halt.
This is the stuff that annoys us every time and makes us wonder if there's anything better.
New functionality should be held off (which, to their credit, they did this last release) until the stuff that should be working is actually working.
    They keep promising, though.

Flip Horizontally for the whole canvas is a must for me, and is found in almost all of the drawing apps.
It's the fastest way for assuring/fixing perspective problems in drawings and it feels to me like a mandatory feature.
An accessible button/menu-drop for the flip would make this Affinity Designer my go-to app for pixel drawing, besides being the killer app for vector drawing.
    Please make it happen .

In Preferences Interface, there is an option to show Undo & Redo buttons. Enable that & they will appear at the bottom right of the screen (as < & > symbols). I find that much easier to use, with or without using the Apple Pencil.
