There is another complication, though. For some purposes (specifically printing or exporting to PDF) the order and layout on the workspace is not relevant. What is relevant for those functions is the order in the layer stack, on the Layers panel. The lowest Artboard in the stack will be page 1, the next one up will be page 2, etc.

Double click the round fill area in the Colour panel or at the bottom of the Tools panel. That brings up the Colour Chooser. Then change one of the CMYK values, then back again. Easiest way is to use the mouse scrolling button to go up and then down. That changes the fill to CMYK rather than Pantone.
 

View - Reset Rotation should do the trick.
If you want to turn it off, go to Preferences - Tools - Enable canvas rotation with trackpad and uncheck it.

You've feathered the selection. If you want a hard edge, don't feather it! 

I would just like to chime in here, as a "tester" coming from CorelDraw too. 
As a designer I use pages as a scrap book; when designing a new theme, logo or similar I start working with ideas, then I 'm used to open a new page to work more on some of the ideas, then a new page to work more on even less ideas, and so on. Then i may use one page for keeping fonts which I find relevant for the project, another few pages for icons, etc. A typical logo workflow will contain at least 10 page with different parts of the process to the final product. With Affinity it seems like I have to open a new document for each step in the process, which will make it really messy, in my world at least. 

I'm still not clear about exactly what you're trying to do. Is it that you want the effects to scale with the text, rather than staying the same when you change the size? If so, you need to check the "Scale with object" box. If not, you'll really need to give us a few more details about what you want to do and what isn't working for you.
If you don't see the settings box, you need to click on the "Settings" button, to the right of the effect name. It's often easier to use the "fx" button below the Layers tab. rather than the Effects Tab.

In both cases untick Facing Pages, for the first case in Document Setup.

Love the 1.8 update. Would love to see a measuring tool in the next update. It can't be that hard can it?

To work as you wish we needed to have the ability to save a preset for custom pixel sizes in Unconstrained mode but currently this is not an option/possible. I will pass your feedback to the dev team to see what they say.

Both guides have been enabled.  I've been trying to drag them from the rulers.  On one document it works, but not on the current one.  This is on a document page. 

Yes I would be happy to have this feature as well, I don't have to change some fancy text but is has to stay as it was...

Is there a way to open and edit an image in photo, directly from designer?

I will frequently draw a small figure in Designer and then export the selection to a PDF. Each time in the export options I need to change the area from "Whole document" to "Selection without background." Could you please make it so that the app remembers the settings the user selected the previous time they exported so that it isn't necessary to change the option every time? Thanks a lot. 

I often use the Export Setting "Area >> Selection without Background".
The issue with this is that Affinity Designer does not remember the setting and it has to be chosen each time again.
It would be cool if the setting would be remembered, this would make it easier when you have to save a lot of designes you keep in a single document.

Can you please add the functionality to remember the last "area" settings used on the export panel? 3/4 of the time I'm going to be using the "selection without background" setting, and it's a pain to have to select that option each time I export something new.
