Mark Freeman got a reaction from Thomas M. Braun in Designer - Free transform tool (perspective distort)
Well said 👏🏻. I have stated before that I think affinity is astonishingly good value, and would be happy to pay for “premium” updates. Maybe not all users would have a need for some of the features mentioned, nor others that affinity had in mind for the future. But having options to purchase individual “plugins” may be a way that the developers could justify the apparently unjustifiable additions to the program you mentioned. In the long run, it is only going to get harder for Serif with their business model. I am definitely not saying they should go down the creative cloud route (cus f*** Adobe that’s why) but again, I value designer and photo enough, that I would happily support the company further than the initial payment while also ensuring that Serif has the liquidity to remain current in the face of Adobe’s rather lucrative business model.

As much as I really like/support Affinity (and have long replaced my Adobe suite with Affinity software), I have to agree, too.
I totally appreciate that it's new in the game, and obviously there's real-world things preventing it from just creating everything anyone ever requested, etc.  I totally get/appreciate that.
That said, the ONE real 'issue/disappointment' I have with Affinity software, is (as previously mentioned) there are so many posts where people are asking about (usually) basic/standard features that appear to be missing... which is then usually followed by other users saying they noticed that too, and were curious about it.... which is then followed by an official response, which is usually 'There is currently no way to do that in Affinity, but it's something we want to add'.....  and that's when you not that the thread is 3-5 years old.
Again, I don't want to come off as angry or accusitive... I am a big fan of Affinity products, but it is disappointing, and I just wanted to 'point it out'.  The reoccurring 'it doesn't do that' does get a bit disheartening, but the fact that you then see the conversation was many years ago (and the features are still not present) kind of hits it up to a new level of... well, disappointment.
I know that I myself have also been (long) waiting for things like a 'blob' brush (vector paint brush where you paint, and it creates a final shape that is the resulting overall SHAPE of the various strokes, rather than a series of individual 'line strokes'... as well as a standard vector free transform tool (ability to pull the individual corners of the bounding/transform box around a single or group of vector shapes)... amoung other featuers I was surprised to see not present.  I can't really understand why these haven't been given high priority, considering how long they have been requested for.
Hopefully, this is taken as the friendly contructive 'criticism/comment on what I (we?) would like to see' it is intended as, and not an angry attack.  I was actually going to post my own thread on this, but ran into this existing thread.... oddly enough, because I was confused by the apparent lack of a free transform tool, and wanted to make sure I wasn't just missing something!'.  I wanted to simply do a bit of a perspective distortion on a vector background I am creating, so it was a bit angled to the camera view.

Second full issue of Skin Art done COMPLETELY with Affinity Publisher, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Designer. This issue went smoother than the last and part of that is due to converting my library of Postscript fonts to Open Type (I posted earlier this year about problems with fonts in Photo and Designer and a bit in Publisher ( https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/125130-strange-text-box-problem/&tab=comments#comment-688016 ). Happy to say that the proofing process with the printer went even quicker with a lot less technical issues. For those that are interested, it's available for order online and will be available in-stores on November 10th.
Thanks again to Serif for giving me an excellent and professional alternative to adobe. Never going back.

Mark Freeman reacted to KennethHuey in How can I input and output hex color values in Designer and Photos for iPad?
It's hard to see how an app that's supposed to be relied on in a professional production environment could fail to accept hex code input. I'd recommend that your engineers make that a priority.

Inspired by a photo in a book and made in the form of a poster. Elmdon (Birmingham, England) Airport opened in 1939. This de Havilland Dragon Rapide G-ACPP was the first airliner (up to ten passengers!) to land there. The old terminal building still stands; it's a little different now, bit it's a glorious piece of Art Deco architecture in the form of an aeroplane. The Rapide is an elegant 1930s design, with an elliptical biplane configuration and fixed undercarriage in 'spats'.It was operated by Great Western And Southern Airlines Ltd, but at the outbreak of the War, it was acquired by the RAF; later it was operated by Scillonia Airlines, flying to the Scilly Isles. As far as I know, it's still around and flying.
(I've rashly promised to make another with Ryde Airport in the background, as I live on the isle of Wight.)

Despite having clean lines the Pilatus took a surprisingly long time to draw, the shadings and reflections especially in that colour were quite challenging.

The Fliegermuseum in Altenrhein is a gift that keeps on giving. This P9 only recently arrived. I always wanted to try to capture the propellor distortion caused by taking a digital picture, I think it came out quite well.

    Hi,
Thought it was about time I posted something new.....
Been working on the Lightbox Expo Challenge (Environmental Design!) for nearly a month now...for a bit of fun..and to learn something new!.

All Vector Construction in Affinity Designer with multiple layer embedded files and manipulation of adjustment layers.....mostly for re-colouring objects
    Two images created for projects
Size had to be scaled to a multiple of 1940px width or height

    EV01
Original Size is 9600px x 3880 px (had to scale to 1940px) and 300dpi

    EV02
    Original Size is 9600px x 4500 px and 300dpi
Extended the height of this one during building as the framework looked squashed forced into the original size!

I do. It is reasonable to save your own computer against being flooded with setup entries etc.  If there is the option to try out something on another system using it is a good alternative.
Telling a community personal impressions is the basic operation of all digital communities. I also created a forum account before the purchase. I too didn't buy Designer – because I read the entries, asked questions, … – this is a major use of communities: discussing, offering personal opinions, asking for help, … – what is your use of it? Lifting the manufacturer above any doubt and emphasize that you are satisfied?
From my point of view this would be useless information because it would be only about you. I know that there are forums where member primarily post information to put themselves in a good light and to be applaused for it. But up to now I do not have the impression that this is the reason for discussing here.
Therefore, I can well understand the drive why people want to share their opinions. As you did.  In regard to the actual topic with a worthless contribution from my point of view.
It's only message seems to be that you can not believe others that are telling their impressions. For my taste this is disrespectful and border-crossing to general forum rules to treat each other with respect.
