multicolumn layout will be great. i have 49" widescreen monitor and i have loads of space there  ...so far i'm using floating windows but i dont like it much as its very easy to click outside and they are gone - not forever, switching back to the app will bring them back - but its very annoying

    My top priority are
No data loss. Save always possible, no corrupt files. QA to ensure regression tests performed (automatically) before user beta Solving crash issues  Functional issues (nested alpha layers not working) Rendering issues  Performance improvements Adding new functionality based on user feedback Adding new functionality from Affinity backlog Why not let forum vote for most needed new function? To name a few requested since years:
Set your own defaults for all UI defaults (current layer / & below) show current brush crop to selection Edit alpha channel, copy/paste channels  More control over alpha channel during Import / Export  Palettized file formats import / export export history as video Shape builder

    I fully share the frustration.
I will continue to use the Affinity suite, based on heavy investment of my time to master the product and find efficient workflows. Never the less, i think it is high time that someone at Affinity like a product owner / product manager really starts to communicate with the active user base (forum users), hear their voice about priorities, and provide a raw roadmap how to overcome the painful issues.

Still convinced that all Affinity staff is really working hard, never the less I‘m deeply dissatisfied with Affinity as a company regarding their autistic behavior and complete ignorance to well documented user feedback.

    Hello,
Affinity Designer urgently needs Auto Hyphenation.
You have already added this feature to Affinity Publisher:

... so can you please also add it to AD?
    Thank you!

Cuando reacted to Rakesh K in Need ability to change opacity of global colors in Designer
In Affinity Designer it seems there is no way to change the opacity of global colors. This is becoming frustrating when designing UIs. Opacity is an integral part of color schemes in Google's Material Design; it completely depends on opacity to create visual hierarchy. From Google's Material Design Guidelines: "Using opacity instead of shifting colors often creates better contrast and relative luminance. For example, gray text (#727272) becomes hard to read if the background color changes to magenta."
Is this feature on your road map?

It would be very useful to implement a tool for felling between lines something similar to "Live Paint Bucket tool" (Illustrator) or "Fill Bounded Areas" from Inkscape. As it seems to be a basic tool, I think you already thought of that.
    See figure for example.
    Thank you.

I fully understand why the roadmap was removed, but currently all affinity users are completely in the dark, this means they need to maintain subscriptions to adobe / others in order to use the tools they want, and they have to do so not knowing when / if Serif will ever implement feature X/Y

Essentially the roadmap should only be Key tools / features and should be a "this is what we are working on next" and it will be released when it is ready - rather than this feature will be released in version 1.x.x

this could be done in the form of a dev blog of sorts - (common in the opensource community e.g godot dev blog)
To check in with the teams showing the community what serif is hard at work doing - because we know you are, we just have no clue what on - the only current way to see anything is to daily spam and check the beta thread - but even then that doesn't tell us about what's going on on the dev side for each app, I realise this is not open source, and there is proprietary and sensitive information that you may not want to share, but a little bit of info a teaser and a rough explanation of a concept might be cool. a lot of the things that Serif is doing already exists in a similar way - but maybe not as cool,

so for example lets say you were adding a filter type (before we knew what live filters were) you don't have to explain / show off the live side of the filter just, this week we are talking to Tim , he is part of the Photo Team and recently has been working on various ways to implement gaussian blur  - cue some maths and a rough explanation of what he has been up to maybe with an animated gif / video of examples.

I personally really like the Affinity Suite for a lot of reasons - but there are gripes about certain missing features / odd behaviours, if you check the forums there a LOT of threads about the same issues, with a lot of community support for implementation. e.g vector transform / perspective or DXF import / export.

without the implementation of plugins so people can program workarounds / or 3rd party solutions external from the affinity workflow I think a Roadmap (non encompassing and without hard promises) or a Dev blog showing what features are being developed internally (even if just a tease) would help the community to get behind the team more rather than just complaining it may also serve the purpose of allowing users to make decisions about what adobe licence to purchase length wise, if you know a tool is being developed and is "almost ready to go"  then perhaps that renewal of the Creative cloud can be skipped this month. it also would allow for some live feedback and comments to do with ui / implementation of said tool prior to being included in a beta.

    just my opinion

big yes for a public roadmap!

I agree with a lot of what you are all saying.
I've been using Designer professionally since 2014 and would love to hear from the team more than we do on stuff they are working on or ideas they are thinking about for the future of these applications. I'm not talking about firm dates on upcoming features. That sort of stuff can wait until they are good and ready to share, no, just a little bit more behind the scenes contact with their user base would be nice from time to time. I would think that would be part of community building, an integral part of any company offering a product or service. I think they could be doing a better job at these sorts of things. Spotlight is great and the Affinity Youtube channel is starting to get some love but it would be nice to get a sense of where this ship is heading once in a while.
Having said that, I for one really hope some of the long standing requests/issues/features mentioned (by Serif and others) going back years now are either being addressed or at least discussed behind the closed doors at Serif HQ. I'm assuming they are cooking up some good stuff (2.0?), I hope I'm not wrong. Some of us have been in the waiting room a long time.
Edit: the below link is a great example of the sort of thing I am talking about. It's a link to Blenders latest roadmap from October 2021.

If you're on Mac, check out an app called CheatSheet. Long pressing on Command key brings a pop-up menu of ALL keyboard equivalents in the menus, which you can click on and execute, this is what it looks like:

    Hello my Friends,
I hope that HKS will be included in future in Affinity software alongside Pantone. For time being, I've prepared CMYK versions of HKS colour systems for coated (K) and uncoated (N) papers (download attached *.afpalette files). HKS 98 & HKS 99 are gold and silver (same in both).
Why? Lots of printers in Europe are using HKS, i.e. Saxoprint and others.

    Hey there,
consider adding this "feature" for us Mac folks, too. Not only do docked palettes declutter the workspace, but currently floating palettes stay in FRONT of open/save dialog windows. Could call it even a bug, and an annoying one.
    Cheers,

    - When moving panels they seem to be trying constantly to snap to things I don't even see.
    - The mouse pointer doesn't stay on the panel where I clicked it.
    - They often render weird (see image).
    - If I arrange a group of them that are snapped together, then try to move the whole group, some of them fall off of the group and get left behind.
It's not near as bad as it used to be though and these bugs are low of my gripes about the studio panels.

I am aware I talk about that some in my post. The workflow that I have settled on makes use of keeping the panels collapsed, and it actually works out pretty nicely. The arrangement is different than any other software I use and it took a bit of hacking around with the UI to come to that solution.
When I say they take up too much space, that is when trying to have a few of them expanded. I am used to being able to have useful tools expanded and visible. With Affinity, Each expanded panel takes up a lot of screen space. See my example screen shots. My right panel for Illustrator has a ton of tools all visible and with so much extra space. Affinity struggles to allow 3 stacked panels. I have 4 stacked in the screenshot, but that layers panel is completely unusable.

Cuando reacted to Muhammad Yamman in Some Basic Tools which are Missing in Affinity Designer and Must be Included in Affinity 2.0
I have recently shifted from Adobe to Affinity. Most of my work is related to Designer, I use Photo occasionally. I’m very satisfied with it overall. I can do pretty much everything on Affinity which I could do on Adobe. But I have noticed that there are some very basic tools which are missing in Affinity apps. Here, I’m making a list of those tools. My request to Affinity decision makers & developer team is that, please include these tools in Affinity 2.0 as designers are desperately waiting see these in Affinity (Most of them are just related to Designer but some are missing in Photo too):

If you just added a Big UI option, when people move to 6k or 8k high resolution screens, you would just see more requests for even bigger UI icons like in the menus and toolbar. But if you added a scalable UI, people like me who are older and those who are partially sight impaired would have a much easier time.
I remember the warning I was told about upgrading my Windows PC monitor from 1080P to 4K, the person said my icons would shrink in size and I might have some difficulty (since I was already expressing that with not seeing another UI element, a dropdown menu because my screen display is set at 110%). But now I move from my 2018 16GB i5 Windows 10 laptop over to my 2011 32GB iMac and I am not recognizing where everything is, everything is so tiny on this what, 5k high-resolution screen.
I might just have to move back to Windows, and I really don't want to do that, as Publisher crashes too much for my sanity on the Windows platform. Not a lot, but one crash is still way too much for me. This is not System 7, Windows 95 or Amiga 2.1, I need reliability and I am hoping to find it on the Apple platform.
So please, please, please, set that up as a preference with a scalable icons and text UI.  Your UX nuts (like me) will love you for it.

    Hello,
Anyone got any experience of importing SVGs from Designer into Figma or using copy and paste from Designer to Figma?
I can import a mockup created in designer into Figma with drag and drop, the only problem I have encountered is I seem lose pattern (bitmap) fills. Anyone know if is possible to retain pattern fills wehn importinn the SVG into Figma?
In Designer preferences I have 'copy as SVG' selected but when I copy and paste from Designer to Figma everything is pasted as a bitmap.
    Thanks
