Yea this is one major reason I haven't jumped onto the affinity wagon just yet.. Tools, colors,  resetting their values when opening new files is ridiculous. I also work on numerous files that need the same unique settings that I predetermined on the first file. It's a loss of time re-establishing the same settings over and over again.
We've already gotten all the best tools and functionality we can possibly think of, now it's about which company can give the fastest, easiest smartest way to help us do our job. Sadly it's still  greedy ADOBE. ;(
Whoever does it right will get a billion users jumping the Adobe ship.

    Hello,
Sorry for more topics about features.
Can we please request a RMB feature for Brushes?
It would be good for productivity if RMB opened a quick access to the brush width , opacity, flow and hardness values? Or a Keyboard shortcut like CTRL + ALT + LMB to change the size and hardness of the brushes in real time? Similar to what Photoshop has.
    Thank you

    Hi
Every time I load in a new picture to edit it I go to the crop tool. About 95% of the time I want to crop in the same ratio that I took the photo in. I have to think that most people are doing the best they can to frame there photos the way they want them to be. Also there is no use working in free mode as default because it does not relate to printing. It only makes sense to me that the default operation of the crop tool should be set to the ratio that the document is when loaded.
Having this even as a little check box somewhere as "Default Ratio as Document" in the settings or something would be amazing.
Anyone else feel the same way?
    All the best

Same here, as a concept artist AP has room to grow. Maybe photo hobbyists don't care so much, but concept artists use lasso quite often
So having a dependable lasso tool is essential. Hopefully you gets addressed by the team

I noticed the "jaggy effect" on other types of selections, for the same reason of "selection lock on pixels" and it often requires editing of the mask, to remove this irregularity. Smoothing the selection still keeps a very "wavy" line, unless considerable smoothing is being applied, but then the selection gets affected everywhere.
So, this should be improved in a future release.
    Thanks for making AF better!

I'm a concept artist and often start a piece by blocking out large shapes using the Lasso tool. However, when drawing organic shapes, Photo's Lasso tool does not give the clean edges that Photoshop does. I whipped up THIS quick demonstration video, showing results of the Photoshop lasso vs the Photo lasso.

    Hi @bitey,
Photoshop might have some sort of stabiliser, and also they do not seem to take into account the pixels, and they average your selection based on the pixels AFTER you make the selection. We lock the selection on pixels, so there is no "on the fly smoothing" applied.
I have moved this to feature requests.
    Thanks,
    Gabe.

thank you @GabrielM for the explanation. I get much smoother Lasso selections with Lazy Nezumi's "Speed Smooth" activated, so it looks like you're probably right about Photoshop using some kind of default stabilising behind the scenes. For now I'll use Lazy Nezumi with Photo's Lasso tool.

I think there is a space left in the context menu for this and former users of Photoshop Elements will find their way a bit quicker if you add it also there.

    Hi Dams,
You can do that already. Just copy (ctrl+c) the object with the style/effects you want and then go to Edit -> Paste Style or press shift+cmd+v
All the effects applied to the source object will be copied over to the new object.

    Hi,

Not sure I have seen this feature request anywhere but as a designer, I heavily use this feature.

I know you can create styles but it's not the same feature and not as fast as copy/paste.

You don't want to save all the FX you create. :)

    Thanks !

    Hello,
Sorry one more small feature request. Could we please have the function to copy \ paste layer effects when RMB the layer?
edit: For those wondering, the function exists. But you need to first copy the layer in its entirety (by selecting it), after which navigate over to the edit button with the new layer selected and press Paste FX
    Thank you

I completely agree about paste FX being in right-click menu.
You could also create a 'Style' to do this:
right click one of your photos with the shadow and outline and choose 'create style' Make sure 'Styles' is showing in View > Studio Scroll to the bottom of the styles palette and your new style will be the last item - you can right-click that to rename it. Any new photo frames just select them, then click your style to apply it. Personally I think styles is unfinished - when you click 'create style' a dialog should pop up straight away to name it - that would give instant feedback that something has happened and take the guesswork out of finding the style you just made. And you should be able to 'update style from selection' the way you can with a text style.

Thank you very much for this.
Actually I clicked on "Create Style" before to solve that problem, but since nothing happened I considered that menu point to be broken. :-D
I indeed would also expect a naming dialog to pop up and also I would expect that the "Styles" view opens up if closed when I use that option.
