Power duplicate should have a panel with configurable settings instead of this "invisible" feature with no controls

absolutely agree on this. This is one of the most powerful features of illustrator. It would give more control over the actions I want to duplicate: how many copies, exact degree of rotation, exact distance. Also would be great to be able to scale and/or rotate each instance by a specific percentage. A random option like AI offers would also be welcome.

Liking the idea's people, a colour shift would also be cool, like a hue setting, tint setting or based on a palette maybe.

Definitely a preset option.

I'm in the middle of a tutorial covering using expressions in the Transform Panel. Very cool, but I agree a panel would be a welcome addition, and the features mentioned here would be terrific.

Absolutely. The current approach is extremely imprecise. It needs a way to control the offsets properly. I was hoping this would come with the clone/step&repeat tool though.
