jonaskohl Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 I am used to feature by Photoshop that I am missing in Affinity Photo. I want to change the color of the transparecy grid. If I am creating white icons, it is very difficult to see what I'm doing because the grid is way to bright for this. I could not find an equvalent setting in Affinity Photo. Is this currently possible? See my attached image for clarification. I am using Affinity Photo 1.6.5.135 on Windows 10 x64. AndRo Marian 1 Quote
Staff MEB Posted January 11, 2019 Staff Posted January 11, 2019 Hi jonaskohl, Welcome to Affinity Forums No, this is not customisable. Why not use a background layer with any colour other than white to help you visualize the icons while you work? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

Hamcha Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Will it ever be customizable? The background layer hack is incredibly annoying to use on multiple artboards Quote

Domvel Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 It would be great if there is a button to toggle light and dark theme transparent checkerboard background. Quote

thomaso Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 How about toggling the Transparency Checkerboard more easily? In AD + APub it is a general document preference (like color space or bleed) – though being available situation-related (like tool or context options) often maybe more useful. In APub I also would expect to get it activated/deactivated together with "Toggle Preview Mode". The current behavior of this button hides all UI guides (e.g. object boxes/edges) but leaves the checkerboard visible – Not an actual "clean" Preview. Finally I wonder why the Transparency Checkerboard isn't listed in the "View" menu, allowing a shortcut key. Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
luislodosm Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Not being able to change the transparent background is a problem when working with white objects such as cursors. You can set a background for the artboard, but then it appears in the export. Quote

Laura Ess Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 My workaround for this was to make my own transparency grid using pattern layers. I have a tutorial on this at Deviant Art @ https://www.deviantart.com/lauraseabrook/art/Customised-Affinity-Photo-Transparency-Grids-914858675 Quote
