At the right you see the bright green color I want. The RGB-code is R:86 G:251 B:51. At the left you see the color in AD. Not bright at all

Why is the color in AD not the same, why not so bright? I used the correct code.

Please help.

I wonder what colour space you’r document is in?
If it’s setup for CMYK then although you can access RGB sliders you will still only be able to generate colours within the limitations of the CMYK colour space. Which generally excludes  zingy bright colours such as your wanted green.
If the document is not for print you could change it’s colour space to RGB and have the green you want.

Just tried setting the left colour to iMac1943 desired colour, and taking a sample from the mucky colour, then changing the colour format to CMYK and you get...

I started a test document in CMYK, entered your RGB values and get the dull green as you show.
Changed the documents colour space to sRGB, bright green! But not spot on so then re- enter the RGB values and all is well.
Again I would say do check your documents colour space.

where do I find the menu (Document etc) as you show? I don't have that in my menu...

For Affinity Designer, it would be in File->Document Setup or (in your screenshot) the Document Setup button in the context toolbar.

The screenshot from firstdefence is from Affinity Photo.

Thank you Walt.

If it is for the web, It's then better to take Web (as Type) instead of Print (Press-Ready) I guess.

But why is the difference in colour so big between RGB (8 bit) and CMYK (8 bit)? Can I find documentation about that or can you fill me in?

Kind regards,

Luc

I'm not sure it's that the difference is so big, but that you tried to use a color specification setup for RGB in a document setup for CMYK. You might be able to get the same color in CMYK as you saw on the other site at the start, but the numbers would be different because of the differing color spaces.

OK Walt, fine. I can try it out. Anyway, the result is perfect. And it must been said, AD and Affinity Photo are great programs. I have them both from the very beginning. But the work I do is for 99,9% in black and white (screen printing on textile, one colour)

The gamut of (i.e. the range of colours included in) the CMYK colour space is much smaller than the gamut of the RGB colour space. In particular, bright greens are outside the gamut of CMYK. RGB is an additive colour model, dealing with emitted light such as you get from your computer screen; CMYK is a subtractive colour model, dealing with reflected light such as you get from coloured ink or laser toner on paper.
