Hey there everyone, I’m Emily and I’m a creative professional from the United States.

I’ve tried all of Serif’s products over the years, and I recently switched to Affinity Publisher after using InDesign for years.

I’ve been impressed with how far the product has come.

¡Buena suerte con Affinity Photo, Oscar!

Regards,

E

Hi Crowd!

I'm a fine artist and photographer currently undertaking my degree in the Isle of Man, started to use Affinity after the end of my first year of study and I'm looking forward to developing my skills, having Affinity Photo on my iPad has been a game changer already.

Glad to meet you all 😊

Hi all,

My name is Mike, and I'm a new user of Affinity Photo. I'm using the program to edit scans of old comic books. One of my favorite features is the Mesh Warp tool, for dewarping camera images of comics that are too fragile to scan.

While I am introducing myself, I have a stupid forum question that is driving me crazy. How do I change my avatar, from the green "M" to a picture?

You wait awhile, a week or so I think. Make a few posts/reply and in time the moderators will know you are a real person and not a bot and allow you to do the change.

Hey there ... I'm a new Affinity user although I've used Photoshop for years. Honestly I don't recall ever hearing about any of the Affinity software until the Adobe fiasco. And since I am really interested in learning to make logos and graphics, the Affinity suite sale caught my attention. Since I never used Adobe Illustrator, I have some things to learn in Designer 2.

I'm looking forward to learning the features of Designer 2 and am partway through Technically Trent's beginner tutorial on YouTube (it's great so far). And I am waiting to receive a preowned copy of the Affinity Designer Workbook by Serif.

Most likely I will be asking more questions as I gain an understanding. Have a great day everyone. 🙂

Welcome, Jecli! I’m new to these forums myself, and I’m curious after reading your post: To what Adobe fiasco are you referring? I don’t want to assume.

Emily, Adobe changed their Terms of Service which would up being vague regarding AI. It sounded like they were using people's photos without consent. And when Adobe tried to reassure the public about its terms, it wound up making things worse. Lots of people jumped ship over it.

That said ... I didn't drop Adobe myself over this but decided to jump on board with Affinity because I really wanted a good graphics program. I think Illustrator is around $20 per month not including Photoshop/Lightroom but couldn't justify the cost.

If you want more info about what happened with Adobe, take a look at some of the YouTube videos regarding it.

I thought that’s what you might have meant. I remember reading about that.

Hello! I'm a graphic designer and digital artist/illustrator based in the UK. I've been using Photoshop since 1995 and InDesign since 2007, and have decided it's time too make the leap over to the Affinity apps, as I despite Adobe's subscription model.

There's probably going to be a fair few questions as I get to grips, primarily with Publisher 2. After years in InDesign as my primary software, it is a daunting prospect (especially my 1000s of .indd files on archive..)

Hi, I am a watercolor artist, based in Pennsylvania, the US.

I am brand new to Affinity (and--gasp!--never used Photoshop), so I am quite intimidated by the learning curve.

But I am tired of paying a lot to the digitalizing studios and want to learn the tools and the art of editing myself. I am starting to work my way through the Affinity manual and tutorials. Kindly point me in the right direction if there are other good learning videos/tools for me to check.

Glad to be a part of this artist-designer community,

Natalya

Best wishes to everyone,

  • 2 weeks later...

hello, I'm Bob Needham, and have purchased Affinity 2 just before the offer ended.

had a quick look at the free trial, but i thought i'd lose out, so i bought it :D

I'm not an expert by any means, pretty much a beginer actually, so looking at the tutorials to understand it all.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. 🙄

Regards

Bob

I have a question, but not sure where exactly to post it, so I'll ask here sorry>>>>>>>>>>>.

I took some photos at the Tattoo in Edinburgh, and couldn't avoid people's heads in front of me, so obviously I would love to remove them, but not sure how. Or even if Affinity can do this......  anyone know, please?

You would be best served by asking in Affinity On Desktop Questions

Hi, I am Clark!

I am a long time graphics software engineer, and I fell for Designer, watched every video I could. I was an Aldus Freehand guy, curse you Adobe for thrusting me at Illustrator. Then you came with InDesign? Byeck. I switched everything over to the very clinical GrafflePro. But then I found Designer. It's the first program to surpass Freehand, and IMHO, it does, mightily. I broke my teeth on MacDraw for astronaut procedures in 1987, and then Canvas, and the RayDreams designer. Anyone remember? I wrote OpenGL scene graphs, Spacecraft simulators, and nearly hacked Alias, Bryce, and Maya to death. Now I am aimed at Publisher with my two very hip other personae: Photo and Designer built in to it. So way cool. If anyone wants to talk about routing Ton's Blender 3D with a 4th persona, I am down. Diligent Engine time?

Clark

Hi all, I'm Tony.

Recently purchased the Affinity V2 Universal Licence whilst it was on offer. Was a long time lurker of using Photo v1, but to be honest I did struggle trying to unlearn that "other" brand of photo editing software.

My decision to start scanning and archiving the family photo collection recently has spurred me on to dive feet first into the Affinity software suite and save myself a fortune on monthly subscription fees!

Already miles ahead of where I was with v1 in just a few months, looking forward to learning more and picking up as many tricks and tips as possible.

Cheers
