axoloth Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Is the affinity team check the Internet to see what are saying about your softwares ? Because if you conduct the investigation, you would see taht the most wanted feature is a DAM.Everywhere in Facebook groups, forums ... it's THE thing that blocks systematically. This is understandable, amateur photographers as professionals use sensibly same workflow that begins with the classification and organization of their photos... it's impossible for a photographer to do without a DAM when he has thousands of photos.Currently no DAM software seems to be able to read Affinity files ...If you really want to explode the market, take out THE PROMISED DAM for years or make an agreement with other software like DarkTable ...You will shadow Adobe only when you'll have a LightRoom equivalent (the dam part of course), in the meantime, photographers monitor, test but do not seriously consider using your software, many will also forget you... I really think that's DAM should be a priority, what about you ? Jangbu 1 Quote
Stuart_James Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Yup - fully in a agreement with axoloth Affinity PhotoRoom is the name you sould use for the DAM software I think it should be priority (even before the InDesign) clone Quote

squeezer Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 They have been working on a DAM, and making promises, since I first started with the Beta version. Affinity have wasted resources on I Pad versions but not yet finished the main software product. I find this frustrating to say the least j3rry and axoloth 2 Quote
broadtaste Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 I agree this is a real gap for me I had to splash cash out on ACDSee to manage my photos after I dumped Adobe and their money grabbing antics. Quote
Asser82 Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Yes, I also do not understand why a print layouting tool is preferred to a DAM / RAW tool. Looking at the Facebook follower of Adobe products: Photoshop: 7.6 Mio -> Affinity Photo Illustrator: 1.5 Mio -> Affinity Designer Lightroom: 1.4 Mio -> Missing InDesign: 0.7 Mio -> Affinity Publisher the Lightroom clone should come first, because it has a twice as large user base. But maybe such a tool is harder to make, because of the different RAW formats, camera/lens profiles, metadata stuff and undocumented raw features. Hence the decission, to postpone it to later. Making a DAM tool can really be a time sink. j3rry 1 Quote
