Sebastiano Basile -Avola Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 How do you object, in AD you can frame text with image? Quote Sebastiano Basile www.superscuola.com
MikeW Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 No. One can make a text frame be a shape that would have a "cut-out" portion. But it would need updated anytime the image size is made smaller/larger or the "wrap" distance needed changing. Mike Quote
toltec Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Make a shaped frame by subtracting one frame from the other. Layer > Geometry > Subtract. Turn it into a text frame by clicking on it with the frame text tool. You can then position the picture where you want. Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
Sebastiano Basile -Avola Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 Thanks for this solution but I could not do this. Can I see a video tutorial? In this forum I read that this function will be included on AP but this seems to me a bit exaggerated because I often create documents for my school (deplians, invitations, etc.) at most two or four pages so I would never buy AP because I will never create a book. This feature and many others I found in 1993 in AldusFreeHand 9 (Aldus >> Macromedia >> Adobe). Quote Sebastiano Basile www.superscuola.com
toltec Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 As far as I know there is no video for that but it is a standard boolean operation. Below, I filled the shapes with colours so you can see better. It doesn't matter if you have fill colours or not, when you use the frame text tool it will make the shape transparent. Put the cutout shape (orange) above what will be the text frame. Select both shapes and go Layer > Geometry > Subtract. That will give a shape like this Make sure the shape is selected and then select the Frame Text Tool When you hover over the shape, you will get this pentagon pointer. Click on the shape to turn it into a text frame. You can turn any sort of shape into a text frame. HVDB Photography and stokerg 2 Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.

Sebastiano Basile -Avola Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 Now I understand. This is a good way. Thank you all. Quote Sebastiano Basile www.superscuola.com
ShaunSmithDesigns Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 Hi everyone, I only recently started using Affinity but I have found a simpler way which would allow for image size adjustments without having to create a new text object each time. Simply select the image and click on the 'Edit Wrap Outline' button to give it a reactive border - now when you move it over a text box the text will adjust around it. I hope this works for everyone and you can recreate it as I have! Quote
Staff MEB Posted October 3, 2018 Staff Posted October 3, 2018 Hi ShaunSmithDesigns, Welcome to Affinity Forums The text wrap options were recently introduced with Affinity Publisher (Beta) and are not available in Affinity Designer, the program the OP was using. Sebastiano Basile -Avola Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 Hi ShaunSmithDesigns, I did a lot of tests but I could not get Wrap text with images. You could explain it better with a small tutorial. Thank you Quote Sebastiano Basile www.superscuola.com

If so, the text-wrap function mentioned by ShaunSmithDesigns is not available to you. It's only in Publisher, currently in beta testing. If you have switched to Publisher, you should post in the Publisher discussion forum. Sebastiano Basile -Avola Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 Ahahhahahahah, I'm trying designer. So this way works only for publishers. walt.farrell, thank you for the clarification Quote Sebastiano Basile www.superscuola.com
PixelPest Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I find the geometry and frame text tool works quite nicely in Designer: Quote
Sebastiano Basile -Avola Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 Yes, this is the best way for designer but it would be more convenient and flexible the way as Publisher. Thank you Alfred 1 Quote Sebastiano Basile www.superscuola.com

The current workaround in Designer is better than nothing, but the wrap needs to be adjusted manually every time you move the image.
