HGF
Affinity Designer - Is there an automatic raster to vector feature available? If yes, link to docu would be much appreciated. Thanks HGF
Staff MEB Posted January 27, 2017 Staff Share Posted January 27, 2017 Hi HGF, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) No, currently there's no auto trace feature in Affinity Designer. We do intend to implement it later if/when the dev team are happy with its output/quality. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

R C-R
At one point there was some indication that auto trace would be a 2.0 feature (meaning it would be part of a paid upgrade), but I do not know if that is still true. ZombieRofl
I hope this feature comes soon, because I use this a lot in my projects. Now I have to use Adobe Illustrator for just this missing option.
Fixx
There are dedicated tools (free, inexpensive and quite expensive) for this so it is not mandatory to use illy. Usually autotrace is separate step that takes its own fiddling so it does not have to happen in same AD application. Of course in some workflows it might ease thing a lot. gdenby
It is a feature that will be most welcome. In the interim, I'm using an app, Image Vectorizer, which cost $5 I think. Works pretty well. wscrcom
I did a quick comparison of some of the FREE tools available. Not very scientific - just using defaults to get a sense of capability.
