Liza, have you read the whole thread here? The title of the OP is not accurate, and no one seems to have been able to reliably get affinity apps to work in linux using the methods here. Just checking that you are aware before troubleshooting this issue, which seems to have a number of possible causes. Apologies for the stupidly large lettering. Am placing this here in the hope it might save others the trouble. ;/

Ima just going to throw this in here as it seems on topic and may (when it is set up with Affinity) provide a more straightforward route to a similar result. And given the progress (or lack of) here, this may fill a gap for some people (in the not too distant perhaps)_. Note I am not the dev and have no affiliation with the app or its development.

Linux host, Windows 10 VM. The OS is fresh install running from SSD. CPU is 3.4ghz with an allocation to the VM of 4gb RAM CPU virt settings are enabled Full allocation of VRAM - But the application runs with a significant delay between mouse movement and rendering on screen. I really would like to continue using Affinity because I love it. However I am done with Windows and will not be moving back to it in future. Anyone have any joy with this sort of setup making the app run at a reasonable speed?

Really fell like the title of this thread is misleading inasmuch as a number of people have commented they thought 'working' meant 'functional'. Some statement in the first post that this is experimental and not ready for production might ameliorate the hyperbolic initial presentation

you understand this process is experimental and may not work as you expect? if you want to continue despite that, and are prepared to go though the instructions to try and get it working on your system, you will need to provide details about your specific problem (the point you got up to that didnt work for you, what you did to try and fix the error yourself, and what you need to know to make it work). from there someone might take an interest and try to assist.

Thanks to everyone involved in the efforts here. Its excellent progress and very pleasing to see headway is being made. Has anyone spent much time working in Affinity using this (wine) setup? How are you going with it? (trying to decide if I should set it up or wait in hope of further developments) Thanks

I have been having issues with any large file in latest build. It is _really_ slow even with just copy pastes. The machine gets really sluggish for about 10-20 secs, mouse movement juttery, impeded. Anyone else having this issue?

I have an icon, 13x14. I select the icon, EXPORT, SELECTION WITHOUT BACKGROUND, and Affinity changes the size to 14x15 Why does it do this, and how can I stop it from doing this? Thanks

Hey I am trying to make a small icon 24x24. I have a rectangle, 24x24 and an icon that sits on the rectangle, 21x21 I center the icon in the rectangle, then group the objects and Affinity changes the size of the grouped objects to 29.6x29.6 I so not understand why it does this and its annoying the shit out of me. Agreed. The 'not installed' notification does not work. Would very much like some way of tracking missing fonts. Its a real PITA to have to try and identify and locate fonts based on guesswork. *This should not be the requirement IMO.*

Sorry for the whinge, but wanted to provide some feedback on an issue with Designer. Ive been caught out numerous times on reformats and working more than one machine, trying to open files that use fonts that are not installed. It makes for a lot of additional work trying to locate, download and install the font. This is especially tricky as there are no 'tags' that notify you to say '[fontname] is not installed' Even this feature by itself would be useful, as it can be difficult remembering the name of the font and there's no other obvious reference (that I can see, anyway :) ) Thanks for considering this suggestion. Otherwise, very, very pleased with my purchase. Its been a very positive experience.

That might work but Im stuck on what you did to get to that. I tried 'undo' to follow the steps but didnt work. Tried replicating it but couldnt get the same result Please advise process so I can understand what this is? Thanks J

Hey Guys I just cant get subtract to work. Layer 1; an oval (curve) Layer2; a carbon fibre pattern, (curve) When I try to get the oval subtracted from the pattern, the only option for boolean is 'divide' Could someone please help me to understand why these two layers dont play nice?
