Dullard
Hi - Got the Beta Download this morning, and tried to install it immediately. Yes, I am that excited. Downloaded fine, but the first step on install is a window saying: Installing Prerequisite: Microsoft.NET Framework. The green loading bar gets to halfway (very slowly I should point out) then just hangs. I have to use Task Manager to close it down. I have tried shutting down, restarting and trying again - same result. NobleValerian

Mark Ingram
We're interested in trying to fix this issue, so if you could help with that it would be great. But as a workaround, you can install .NET Framework 4.5.2 directly from Microsoft, and then our installer shouldn't even attempt to install the prerequisite. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=42642

Dullard
Hi- OK, so.... Downloaded and installed Microsoft.NET Framework for the link provided It installed fine. Tried to install Affinity again. First up I got a window pop up saying Prerequisite installation C++ redistributable. This then disappeared and another window popped up in its place saying "Prerequisite installation failed" I clicked on the install icon again, to try installing once more. the installation Window came up and it started the install. Ran all the way through to "Finish", which i clicked. I then clicked on the desktop icon it had created and got a window saying "Designer has stopped working. I uninstalled the programme and went through the entire process again, with the same end result, although on the second attempt, I did not get the window stating that C++ installation had failed. Chris_K
Hi Dullard Although the redistributable seems like it may have installed I have a feeling if you go to to the Programs and Feature within control panel you might not see it there If it has installed, can you try uninstalling it, then try separately installing it from this link then see if this is any better for you? Dullard
Do you have the platform update for Windows 7 SP1? https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=36805 Hi Mark - Two updates on that link - one says not applicable to my computer, the other says already installed. Sorry Chris - can't make any more posts until tomorrow due to your forum limit of 5 a day! So this is what i wanted to reply to your next post: Hi Chris - You may don the detective's Deerstalker. Although the C++ redistributable was shown as being there, it must have been corrupted because it would not repair. I downloaded a fresh version from your link, and now Affinity opens! Thank you - I can now have a look at your handiwork. Thanks to you and your colleagues for everything Mark Ingram
zehh
I have the very same problem...Affinity Designer frozen at Welcome Screen. Install process was fine. Two times. My OS Windows 7 SP1.- VC_++ Installed and updated (all version 2005/2008/2010/2012/2013/2015).- .NET 4.6.1 installed (can't install older version 4.5.2) - Unistalled and installed again. Same problem.PS.: I have all the screens documented, and a printscreen of all System Monitor (all .dll loaded at startup process). zehh
I'm back to say that the problem is solved. What I've done before: - Uninstalled and reinstalled Affinity Designer Public Beta - Uninstalled and reinstalled VC++ 2015 - Uninstalled and reinstalled .NET Framework 4.6.1 So... none of this procedures works... So I make a more wide and deep uninstalling procedure... and the problem solved!!! 1) Uninstalled Affinity Designer Public Beta 2) Uninstalled VC++ 2015 3) Uninstalled .NET Framework 4.6.1 4) Cleaned Windows (I used Piriform CCLeaner, works for me) 5) Reboot Windows 6) Reinstalled VC++2015 7) Reinstalled .NET Framework 4.6.1 8) Reinstalled Affinity Designer Public Beta (only for precaution, in a brand new directory name - C:\Program Files\ADPB...) And...Works !!! PS.: In my research I found that the " AppHangB1" problem occurs with lots of software, and the solutions is to update/reinstall VC++ and .NET Framework. Now Affinity Designer is running blazing fast !!! MattP

Alfred
Almost same problem When I run the Beta version it gives me a error that says an unhandeled exception has occured. Please if there is a way to fix this I would be really greatful. If you managed to install the beta version then you didn't "fall at the first hurdle" and it isn't the same problem (or "almost" the same problem). Try clearing your user data. Press the Ctrl key, hold it down while you launch the program from its shortcut, and keep it held down until the Clear User Data dialog appears. Now release the Ctrl key and press the 'Clear' button.
