ParanoidAndroid Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 We would love to be able to use Affinity with our Chinese laser cutter which really only works well when supplied with DXF files, please implement DXF 12/14 export. Currently we have to use Illustrator for this it but it would be great to be able to drop Illustrator finally! MuuSer, fabius_ and sergio 3 Quote
goldie Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I totally second this request. I use Affinity for textile designs and electronic cutting machines, and I need DXF files for these. I usw Inkskape for the DXF export but it's really buggy and it interrupts my workflow. The lacking DXF export is the only problem I have with Affinity. Quote
RobM Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Another feature request for DXF export for cnc, laser and vinyl cutting. DXF import too would be even nicer, but DXF export is a big benefit. Quote
werner1661 Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Hello, I do technical illustrations with adobe illustrator since years - roughly 600 illustrations a year.. It happens regularly that my customers provide me with data from their CAD systems (which is very helpful). Adobe illustrator can import dxf files. Affinity designer enables a better workflow, the menu design is more logic and your program is fantastic ... so I would be glad to change from Adobe to AD. However, dxf import would be a necessary prerequisite. Quote
fax2009 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Hi, I just wanted to make that request as well. DXF is also usefull for working with maps, qgis for instance. I'd love to see that feature! Thanks Max Quote
harakiro Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I also really would like this feature. I'm super excited to have found your software it's great! I'm just sad I have to use an ancient version of corell draw to convert to this file format. Quote
S_Metzger Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Please please please add DXF import/export. There are so many users you would pick up in the CAD and fabrication world. That is the one universal standard for getting vector information between apps. Quote
anon1 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I also just recently had the issue Exported to PDF > imported into AutoCAD and the cutting agency still could not read the dxf file for some special reason Maybe a direct affinity export would solve such an issue (I'm not an expert in AutoCAD) Quote
ludesign Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I totally second this request. I use Affinity for textile designs and electronic cutting machines, and I need DXF files for these. I usw Inkskape for the DXF export but it's really buggy and it interrupts my workflow. The lacking DXF export is the only problem I have with Affinity. Same here. I use DXF for both cutting and print/cut jobs. Support for older EPS would also be good as some machines prefer that. Illustrator, CorelDraw and Freehand (if anyone remember it) all supported it. ParanoidAndroid Posted October 24, 2017 Author Posted October 24, 2017 bump: any chance of getting DXF export? Quote
chris11 Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I was about to buy Designer but thought I'd check if it exported DXF, I'm glad I looked as it's a must for me. I've looked at the programme and think it could work for me but needs DXF export. I know lots of people are saying it but thought I'd chime in also Quote
lorbus Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 I also would love this feature. I do cnc wood sculpture and this would help me avoid endless conversions. Cool app Quote
sceyefeye Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 DXF out would be great. I am also using Inkscape as a bridge for that (usually Affinity -> SVG -> Inkscape) but that really means keeping inkscape around just as a file translator, workable but not really necessary? As an aside, If you have CAD the internal PDF plotting results in a vector based PDF which Designer and Photo both open as vectors which is quite useful. Quote
BennyD Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 I would love to see DXF-export functionality with options for spline-to-arc and spline-to-polyline-conversion. Best feature example is http://www.baby-universe.co.jp/en/plug-in/exdxf-pro4/ b Quote ___♥___ | | | | | |
Alex N Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 +1,000 We're evaluating this as an Adobe replacement, and I'm unable to recommend we purchase 50-100 licenses if this (IMO basic) functionality is not present, or isn't planned for the very near term. It's a shame - this is the first "gotcha" I've found that may rule out this option for us. BennyD 1 Quote
dries Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Is there any chance this will be implemented? This is one of the things that forces me to switch back to illustrator from time to time... Quote
Plasmaartco Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 DXF. PLEASE. Would make life so much easier with my plasma cutter. Quote
dries Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 FYI - For the laser / plasma / cnc cutters over here, I found a solutions that works for me: https://deepnest.io/ Can import SVG and export dxf and works very good in nesting. Aammppaa 1 Quote
TBB Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 I can only second the above: an option to export as DXF would be a major plus and would allow me to ditch inkscape for this step. Quote
stellar Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 This export option would increase my productivity. I hope it gets added. Quote
