Hey @loukash, sorry I didn't want to be aggressive. Yes, I feel annoyed and that's what I wanted to signalize as well as that i don't understand what the motivation is not to focus on bug fixing. And by the way thanks again for summarizing the workflow. I've learned the best way for me is to export the channels as PNG and fill them in Publisher with the spot color. But again, all this is quirky and could be done real better.

Yes, I'm aware, but that was on V1 and the thread seems to disappear under all that V2 feedback and since it hasn't been resolved so far this was just a friendly reminder. Can you tell me why it takes so long and does not have high priority? It's not really obvious why tons of kinda cheesy features have been implemented into V2 but bugfixing played a minor role. If I were Serif I would first get my homework done, then do new stuff because I assume the new features aren't bug free as well and this adds up later on, right?

There's a Bug from V1 which made it's way into V2, too. If you try to export PDFs with custom CIE/LAB spot Colors in Publisher V2, the colors export as spot colors but the color space is converted into Device CMYK. detailed description here:

All these new features, but none of the real flaws and bugs addressed that exist inside the suite for years now. The most powerful tool would have the features which people from the industry demand. @Gabe@MattP@Andy SomerfieldV2 is out and one of the first things I tried out is to look, if you took your professional customers serious… and I was disappointed. Why is it so hard to admit that this problem here is a severe bug which prevents people who work in the printing industry from making the switch. At the moment I still cannot rely on your software, because the whole color management and spot color handling is still a big mess. 😢 Cheers Benny

The color management unfortunately is a complete mess. Especially when you think of printing production. It starts with not having device independent color workspace and ends with inability to export spot colors properly to pdf. Not to mention the lack of overprint preview and real 1Bit-support.

Haven't really gone so far, because other issues came along as well, e.g. lack of overprint preview and therefore I stopped using AFpub for serious work. I imagine other problems arise if you want some sort of preview. Logically 1-Bit means »color or nothing«. If you use 1-Bit images you don't need to place the lineart for different spot color channels and multiply them which would then mean some sort of transparency reduction. It's such a mess…

By the way, that same issue has been discussed here for a really long time now, but I wanted to make the point clear with that very short example.

I mean, If you place an 1 Bit image into Publisher, no matter what you do, it will be converted to a 8 Bit greyscale image. All necessary files attached. 1Bit-Indesign.pdf 1Bit-InDesign.idml 1Bit-Affinity.pdf 1Bit-Affinity.afpub 1Bit.tif

but »K Only« here still means the result is an 8 Bit channel, not 1 Bit

I'd love to try an old offline Photoshop with a recent version of macOS. Impossible due to lagging Java 6 support. If it were possible I'd stay with CS5 or CS6 forever. b
