  1. I love Affinity Publisher, but this is janky nonsense - has taken me two hours to figure out how to change the background color of a text box. Here's how, for those also losing their sanity over this simplest of tasks: 1) Select text frame with the "Move" tool (Ok. I'm not moving anything, but sure. I know Affinity rolls this way) 2) Select the gradient tool (wait...what??? I don't want a gradient - why would I ever try that? Where is the fill tool?) 3) Change the second "context" setting in the top menu from "text" to "frame" Good grief. To the Affinity team: these steps are not hard to follow, but they are impossible to guess. That's poor design.
  2. Mac OS 12.3.1 - still an issue. No way to input color hex values for text or paragraph styles, the field does not accept input.
  3. +1 to this, cannot understand Affinity's thinking in leaving out this core function.
  4. Looked everywhere, hoping someone can help me find Object Styles—closest I can find is the preset collection in the "Styles" tab, can create my own there, but can't then edit what I create, or have those changes flow through to my content. Is it called something different? Or is it missing? (Surely not?)
  5. Many thanks for the replies so far. Point is well taken that any meaningful answer depends on knowing the user's workflow requirements. Which means my question wasn't fair—it effectively asked for sight-unseen reassurance that my future projects would not require Indesign again, were I to switch. (It's too late in any case. I've bought the Affinity suite already. They had me at StudioLink.)
  6. Long time Indesign user here, my first 48 hours with Affinity Publisher. Yet to run into anything in my workflow that Publisher doesn't have an equivalent for. So, before Adobe and I possibly go our separate ways: What can't Publisher do yet, that Indesign can, that might frustrate an Indesign user to a point of saying "not...yet..." to Affinity? Or are we only talking about little-known, rarely used features, that Serif has wisely chosen not to replicate to avoid bloat?
