willernest Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I've created a text frame from a circle. At that point you can easily change the color of the circle. Convert it to a text frame. Type in some text. Once you're in a text frame, the various options for color are then associated with the text itself. How does one go back and change the background color of the circle? Quote

carl123 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 In Publisher select the Fill Tool and change the 2nd dropdown box in the Context Toolbar from Text to Frame, then change the colour. In Designer you can try a recolour adjustment if your text is pure white, (black and other colours can be problematic) Kabeljauws, Robert Petras, duderonomy and 5 others 1 7 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. No pain at all (Or, if you must switch back to Designer to get, e.g., the Pixel Persona or Export Persona, File > Edit in Designer will get you there without needing to copy data between the two applications. Though I suppose that some users might prefer copy/paste to File > Edit in Publisher, do the work, and File > Edit in Designer again.) @willernest: Another option for you is to put another circle behind your circular text frame, and fill it with the color you want. I did as you say, creating a yellow sticky comment note, and then created an asset out of it so I can now just drag & drop without having to leave Designer. Quote

PhilipJohnston Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I love Affinity Publisher, but this is janky nonsense - has taken me two hours to figure out how to change the background color of a text box. Here's how, for those also losing their sanity over this simplest of tasks: 1) Select text frame with the "Move" tool (Ok. I'm not moving anything, but sure. I know Affinity rolls this way) 2) Select the gradient tool (wait...what??? I don't want a gradient - why would I ever try that? Where is the fill tool?) 3) Change the second "context" setting in the top menu from "text" to "frame" Good grief. To the Affinity team: these steps are not hard to follow, but they are impossible to guess. That's poor design. Quote

To change the background color of a Text Frame, in Publisher, use the Text Frame panel: Window > Text > Text Frame if it isn't already selected to show in your Studio. You see also I said that, this option is hidden so you need to get some instruction and this is not good for users, we work intuitive, so command must be where you acpect it, not hidden, many people will ask this question, simple and intuitive, not complicated and everything must work logicaly Quote
