Elvish-like Girl Portrait (AP)

Recommended Posts

To be honest, I've never tried Affinity Photo for digital painting. I usually work in PS or Manga Studio. But today I was testing some brush settings of Photo and came up with this quick portrait. I've always tried to emulate the traditional mediums when painting digital, so I tend to work my digital paintings with that natural a la prima feel... working in one layer and mixing pencils and 'gouache'.

Here's the result:

I think I'll use Photo for more digital painting. It runs pretty smooth and fluid. It is pretty fun to create brushes too, very fewer settings compared with other painting software, but at the same time those boundaries makes you create some nice brushes more quickly.

Hope you all dig it!

Really cool work! I personally seldom make digital painting, and i tried lots of software for this and finally realized that it can be done totally in Affinity Designer's Pixel Persona... Especially with those cool DAUB brushsets.

Great job here!

I share the very same opinion.

Less parameters, but sometimes "less is more".

And the custom ramp thing truly opens a wide range of possibilities.

There are still some features lacking, but I'm sure these will come!

Thanks for all your comments!, I think Affinity Photo has great potential for illustrators, I'm still missing a couple of features as Paolo said above, but all in all, you can do pretty much everything with this power Designer-Photo duo! I'm looking forward for the new update :D

Yes!, I'm playing with those curves and with some happy accidents in between, you can come up with very interesting results!
