Dear affinity, A few days ago I purchased the software "Affinity Photo 2" - windows version, Mainly to edit my macro photos,However, I quickly found that the software struggles greatly with loading only 11 raw images for editing and focus stacking, taking around 30 minutes to load them This is assuming it doesn't crash or close in the middle, all while the software's website boasts about its capabilities and technical strength. For comparison purposes, the Adobe Lightroom software takes a maximum of 2 minutes to load 20 photos, while Affinity takes 3 minutes to load one photo!. According to the required technical specifications for the software on the official website, the computers meet them, yet the software still crashes, freezes, the screen starts glitching, and there are many other issues, making it impossible to work comfortably even on one image

I am very disappointed with the program, and this is not the value I expected to receive for the money I paid. I would like to know if this is only a problem for me or for everyone?, and if you can quickly fix the many issues in your "Affinity Photo 2" Windows version software?

Can you upload one of those images to the forum so other users can check to see how long it takes to open them on their computers

Can you also state the specs of your computer and the OS and (version)

It’s a pity you didn’t discover these problems during a free trial (albeit a woefully short one, lasting only seven calendar days from first launch). If you bought the app from the Affinity Store, you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase.

Where are these RAW images located & how large (in MB) are they? How much RAM is installed on your system?

The raw images are on the computer. One image weighs around 32MB. My computer has 8 RAM

If you mean 8 GB of RAM, that is the minimum system requirement but it will not be enough to run the app very snappily because it will need to constantly page data between memory & disk to work on large documents & still have enough RAM to run the operating system.

8 GB is recommended, but it isn’t specified as a minimum system requirement.

If you go to task manager you can see how much free memory you have while running the app alone and loading photos.

Probably wont help, but since you have so little ram, make sure no other apps are running simultaneously.

Try running the benchmark from setting, post result.

It's in the Help menu, not Settings, isn't it?

Thanks, but the topic is about Windows, not iPad.

Computers / notebooks with 8 GB are sufficient for office, social media, music and video playback and also for simple image editing tasks in Affinity Photo, but less so for extensive tasks such as photostacking.

Notebooks without a dedicated GPU use 128 MB to 2 GB of RAM, depending on the manufacturer.

RAM in a computer is like engine capacity in a car. The more of it there is, the better the machine runs. You can't replace RAM with anything except more RAM.

Can you clarify your workflow a bit?

Are you:

  • Opening 11 raw images for editing using File > Open?
    or
  • Using File > New Focus Stack and selecting 11 raw images?

Buonasera.

Buongiorno allesandra,

Are you talking about Affinity Photo? If so, please open a separate topic for your issue(s), as yours differ from the original posting.

And please describe your problems in detail, so that users can try to reproduce it. Also mention the version of your product and the version of your MacOS.

Regards,
Otto
